Dongseong Susan

동성수산 Susan (수산) means marine products or fishery, a common word in the names of Korean fish shops; Dongseong is a proper name.

Compiled from 13 blog posts read in fullSources →

Dongseong Susan is a raw-fish restaurant facing Moseulpo harbor in Daejeong, Seogwipo. Order the assorted platter, yellowtail or mackerel and a long run of sides follows — abalone porridge, cold soup, fritters, grilled fish — ending with fish stew or clear soup and sugared rice cake. Two posts note that even a single 10,000-won raw-fish rice bowl or a 17,000-won squid cold soup came with a spread of side dishes. We read 30 posts dated January 19 to October 28, 2026; 13 of them record an actual meal.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Six posts say the portions are large: a small assorted platter for two left food over, one rice bowl was called absurdly generous with fish, and one group was full on sides before the yellowtail arrived.
  2. Three posts mention floor seating, including a shoes-off room; one diner was stuck on the floor tables because group bookings filled the rest. Two posts mention private rooms and four call the hall spacious.
  3. Four posts were group meals (coworkers, a party of five), three were family dinners, two with friends, one a couple.

The prices here are what bloggers wrote down in their posts, and they may have changed since. Check Naver Place for the current menu and prices. This list is not a menu board — it counts what bloggers actually ordered and ate. Check on Naver Place

Where it is

Map showing where Dongseong Susan is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

No post describes which floor the restaurant is on. We don't know.

No post says whether the entrance has a step or is wheelchair or stroller accessible; one only notes that the floor-seating room is shoes-off.

No post mentions the restroom — where it is or whether it is separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 17 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Opinions on price split: one post (April 2026, 130,000 won for a medium platter) found it a bit pricey, three called it good value (10,000-won rice bowl, damselfish set). Fish is priced at market rate, and an August menu listing the medium at 100,000 won does not match the April figure.
  • Thirteen posts from October 22–28, 2026 end with the identical eight hashtags, give no prices, and repeat the same phrases about the yellowtail and mackerel in the same order. We treated them as commissioned copy and did not count them, nor three introductions lacking any concrete order and one top-10 list.
  • Nine posts list the hours as daily 11:30–21:00, but every one copied it from an info block. No one mentions a break, last order or closing day.
  • Many posts copy the phone number 064-794-7034, but none says whether it takes reservations.
  • No one wrote about waiting. One post saw it fill up at lunchtime, another found two local tables at 2 p.m. That means no one reported a wait, not that there never is one.
  • No one arrived by bus; six of the visits came by car. We don't know how practical public transit is.
