Junsui Geomdan-Ara
준스이 검단아라점 A small Japanese counter shop by Ara station where the udon is the billing and the palm-sized chicken rice bowl is what everyone actually orders.
Compiled from 16 blog posts read in fullSources →
Junsui's Geomdan-Ara branch is a Japanese home-cooking shop on the ground floor of a commercial block about 400 metres from exit 1 at Ara station in Incheon. White with red accents outside, Japanese posters and figures inside. What it sells is udon and rice bowls — broth from bonito, kelp and anchovy, and a jumbo chicken don with a palm-sized piece of fried thigh over the rice. The plain udon is 4,500 won and most things stay under ten thousand. You pay at a kiosk by the door, carry your own tray from the counter and clear it yourself. A long bar counter runs down one side, with a few tables behind. No alcohol. The first branch is in Bucheon; this one opened in March 2026. The posts we read run from March to September 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart
- You pay at a kiosk as you walk in — nine writers say so. When the food is ready you fetch it yourself, and clear your own tray afterwards. One writer got a KakaoTalk message when the order was taken and again when it was ready; another notes the kiosk lets you ask for less rice. One who ordered a lot found a staff member carrying part of it over. Two say the self-service is why tables turn over quickly.
- At lunch and dinner you wait. Eight writers say so. There are four clear chairs outside the door and a waiting list. The one who timed it puts the wait at five to ten minutes, and two note that self-service empties tables fast. The clock matters: one arrived at half past eleven to a quiet room and watched it fill after noon; another sat down early and found every table taken ten minutes later. Two took bar seats because the tables at the back had gone first.
- A receipt review gets you one thing, say five writers, and you choose: a piece of boneless chicken, a rolled inari, or a canned drink. Two say they took it — one a cider, one the inari. The one who took the inari, having then tasted the chicken, wished she had chosen the chicken.
- Ten per cent off under the armed-forces scheme, say three writers: serving conscripts, alternative-service workers, reservists who have done their annual training, and people working in the conscription service — for the person themselves only, one adds, with documents to prove it. One mentions ministry staff too. All three posts are from March and April 2026, so whether it still runs we do not know.

- Ten stamps earn a secret dish, say three writers. Nobody knows what it is: one reports hearing that as of 25 April two people had had it, another only says she means to become a regular. One notes that public holidays do not count towards the stamps. None of our sixteen writers ever got there.
- There is a basket under the seat for coats and bags — four writers mention it, one approvingly. Disposable aprons sit by the till to help yourself to, and two writers note the floss and single-use mouthwash on the way out.
- It is small. Three writers call it cramped, snug, not a wide room. The seating is a long bar counter of about eight places with a few tables behind — two writers count three two-tops, one describes tables that seat two to six. Which is why eating alone here is unremarkable: three writers noticed other solo diners. A party of four or more looks harder to seat.
- People walk from Ara station — six writers say so, putting it 400 metres from exit 1, three to five minutes. Two place it opposite the front gate of a named apartment complex, which makes it easy to find. One notes bus stops nearby. You do not need a car.

An hour free in the building's underground car park, say twelve writers, several of them specifying the hour. One recorded the entrance clearance at 2.3 metres — tall vehicles will not fit. It is the block's car park, not the restaurant's own.

Getting inside
| Second floor | yes 0 · no 3 (of 16 posts read) |

| Toilet inside | yes 0 · no 1 (of 16 posts read) |
Nobody looked at the threshold or a ramp. Across all sixteen first-hand posts the words wheelchair, pushchair, ramp, step and threshold never appear. Three writers note the ground floor and four came with children, and not one describes the way in. We know the room is narrow and mostly counter, that you come up from an underground car park, and that the toilet is out in the corridor — whether any of that works on wheels, we do not know.
The toilet is not inside the restaurant but along the building's corridor — and the back door that used to lead straight to it has been closed. A September 2026 writer read the notice: people passing in the corridor kept colliding with the swinging door, so the shop shut it. 'The toilet was right there through that back door,' she writes; 'nothing to be done, but a shame.' You now go out the front and round. Whether it is split by sex, and how far it is, nobody records — one post does say 'separate men's and women's', but that line is copied from the listing and we did not count it.
No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 29 posts we gathered, 13 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- We read thirty posts and built this page on sixteen. Thirteen went up in twelve days, between 16 and 27 September 2026, and we set them aside. Their five closing hashtags are identical in wording and order, and the bodies recycle the same phrases: natural stock, no MSG, noodles boiled to order, close to the bus stop. Not one of the thirteen names a dish or a price. And what they describe is not what is here. All thirteen say you watch the food being cooked in front of you at the counter; the sixteen who actually went say you order at a kiosk by the door and carry your own tray from the pickup shelf. All thirteen say the room is spacious and good for families; three of the sixteen call it cramped, small, not a wide room. These are not accounts of a visit. One further post was about a different restaurant on the same street, and we removed it.
- This place opened in March 2026, and what we read is its first six months. All four March posts call it new; one explains that the original is by Sangdong station in Bucheon and that only ten branches are planned. Two things changed in that half-year. 1. The closing day moved twice. The four March posts say it opens every day; two April posts say closed Sundays; eight posts from July to September all say closed Mondays. Laid out by date they do not overlap — they follow one another. 2. The mid-afternoon break appears to have gone. Four posts give it as 14:00–15:30, and all four are from March. None of the eleven later posts mentions it, and one writer ate here at half past two on 26 August. So check before you go. What we loaded is what the posts said, and this shop has not yet been through a full summer and winter under our reading.
- What people ordered clusters hard. Of the sixteen first-hand writers, fourteen ordered some version of the jumbo chicken don. For a shop that bills itself as an udon house, only three ordered the plain udon — and two of those ordered it for a child. The chikuwa udon and the cod-roe rice were each eaten once, and the 14,900-won 'super' chicken don on the menu was eaten by nobody. So the tasting notes on this page lean towards the chicken. The udon is what the shop calls itself; the chicken bowl is what people came for.
- Three posts declare that they were treated. Two say so in their opening line — a meal provided by the restaurant — and one tags the post as sponsored at the end. We counted all three, because they said so; one of them also got a free ice cream on the way out. Four writers state that they paid, and the remaining nine say nothing either way.
