Data as of · Published ·
Punghyang Jjokgalbi's Guwol flagship occupies the second floor and the roof of a brick building across from Moraenae market in Namdong-gu, Incheon. There is a café on the ground floor; you go up the stairs on the left. Noon until eleven at night, last orders at ten. It sells one thing in three dressings — plain with salt, soy-marinated, and hot — all 400g for ₩17,000, with a thin-cut rib fillet called bakpo galbi as its companion. Of the chain's three branches, this is the original. The posts we read run from February to September 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- The meat arrives already cooked, and everything about this place follows from that. All twenty-two posts say so: the ribs come out grilled, on a plate, ready to eat. Two writers go further and say where — one that they are grilled upstairs and brought down, one who could hear them being turned in a grill room on the roof as soon as she ordered. There is a grill at each table, but its job is warming, not cooking, and the shop's card says to keep the flame low. Two find that a second pass crisps the outside; one that it caramelises the sauce. The cost is time — six put it at about ten minutes, which is why the shop tells you to order seconds early. Twelve count not having to cook as the point, and five of those came with a child and name exactly that: nothing to wait in front of, so nobody gets bored. The one exception is the bakpo galbi, which comes raw and, being thin and marinated, catches easily — two writers burned theirs.
- The third floor is the roof. Nineteen posts mention it, and the same words keep coming back: like camping, like grilling meat in the middle of the city, the whole point of an outdoor table. One describes tents, one notes there is air conditioning up there too, and two that the roof has its own self-serve counter. Four agree on the way up: the stairs beside the toilets at the back of the second floor. One adds that roof tables fetch their own drinks from the fridge. It is not always open, though. A February writer was kept down by the cold; one on 22 April found it closed for building work. One arrived in the evening to find it full and sat downstairs instead, while four chose it deliberately. Only one writer counted the tables: six.
- Side dishes refill without limit from a self-serve counter. All twenty-two mention it and five say they went back — twice for the kimchi, repeatedly for the sweetcorn and dried radish, again for the pickled wraps and the sauces. Four things come as standard: dried radish, sweetcorn, cabbage kimchi and pickled onion. The three sauces are what these posts talk about most — salt, a red sweet-hot one, and a white one whose name nobody quite knows: it is called chilli mayo, cream wasabi, garlic mayo and wasabi mayo in different posts, and three writers say they took it for plain mayonnaise until it turned out to be hot. Six name it the best thing on the table. The counter also holds gloves, aprons, scissors, tongs and children's spoons.
- The second-floor windows open right up. Seven writers mention it — folding panes, a glass wall — and four say that with them open the room feels like the outdoors; two of those got the effect from a window table without going up to the roof. One notices the smell of ribs reaching the street, another that the air clears well. Seven call the second floor small, counting between five and eight tables, and the smallness and the windows usually turn up in the same post — a little room that spends its way out through the glass.
- You order from a tablet at the table. Eight posts say so. There was a day it was not there, though — a July 2026 writer, who had used one on an earlier visit, notes it was gone. One post says the shop takes no cash, card or bank transfer only; only that one writer says it, so we have not confirmed it.
- Write a receipt review and you get a soft drink. Eight relay the offer, two naming the choices. One says she took one. And exactly one of the twenty-two declares a sponsorship — see the caveat below.

Parking
5 posts say you can park; 9 say you cannot. We leave the disagreement standing rather than picking a side.

Parking is where these posts flatly contradict each other, and it is the one thing about this shop we could not settle. Ten say you cannot park out front. Three of those parked elsewhere themselves — one found a space in a side lane, one took a quiet lane nearby, and one used a named public car park and walked three hundred metres and a crossing. The other seven give the line "no parking in front, use the public lot or the lanes," and one lists the parking as the single drawback of her visit. Five say you can park out front. One of them did — "there's no car park as such, but you can pull up in front, and that's what I did." Three more simply state there is space there, and one, alone among all twenty-two, says there is a proper car park behind the building. People have parked both ways, so neither account can be called false. It reads as though there are one or two spaces out front, free or not depending on the hour, but nobody writes that and we will not put our inference in their mouths. If you are driving, come having planned for a public car park — three writers did, and one of them names the one she used.

Nobody writes about getting up here with a wheelchair or a pushchair. Across twenty-two posts the words for wheelchair, pushchair, ramp, step and step-free access do not appear once. What we know is that the only way to the second floor is the stairs, and two writers call those stairs steep and a little narrow. No post says whether there is a lift. Five writers came with children, and all five used or saw a high chair — not one says what they did with the pushchair. This is not a no; it is that we do not know. But since nineteen posts agree that the shop is the second floor and the roof and the stairs are the only way in, anyone who cannot manage them would do better to ring first.
No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know
- This is an easy place to reach by subway. Sixteen posts say so and all of them mean exit 2 of Moraenae Market station on Incheon line 2. The distance is given as one minute, two minutes, fifty metres, sixty-seven metres and 340 metres — the disagreement is a minute, not a direction. One gives the turn precisely: out of exit 2, round the building on the left, and there it is. Two put it behind the same clinic. Five note that Moraenae market is directly across the road. Nobody mentions a bus.
- It is on the second floor, up stairs, and only up stairs. Twenty posts say so. The ground floor is a café — six mention it — and the way up is a stairwell on the left of the building; one writer admits to standing in the café wondering if she had the right place. The two who describe the stairs agree: steep, and narrow enough to warn you about. One noticed a chandelier over them, another liked the low light. No post mentions a lift — whether there is one, we do not know. The tables are on the second floor and the roof, and the roof is stairs again.
- The toilets are inside, on the second floor. Four writers say so and place them identically: through to the back, where the corridor gives the toilets on one side and the stairs to the roof on the other. Two of them looked and report separate men's and women's, one adding a bidet seat and that it was clean. Two further posts list "separate men's and women's" in a run with the wi-fi, the takeaway and the high chairs; that looks lifted from the listing page and we did not count it. Whether there is an accessible toilet, and whether roof diners have to come down a floor, no post says.
- Nobody says they queued, but one writer watched people give up and leave. An April 2026 post: six tables, all full, and customers who would not wait walking out — so she ate quickly and went. Two more saw the room fill: one arrived early in the evening and watched it go, one found the roof already full at dinner time, sat on the second floor, and saw that fill too. Only one writer booked — seven on a Thursday evening — and she concludes that with so few tables booking is more or less required. Whether there is anywhere to wait, or how long, no post says.
- Exactly one of the twenty-two declares a sponsorship, at the very top of the post; one other tags hers as paid for out of pocket. The remaining twenty say nothing. And the dates cluster. Sixteen of the twenty-two went up in the fortnight from 15 to 28 April 2026, and four of those end with the same ten hashtags in the same order. We did not drop those four. Their bodies do not overlap, each ordered something different, and each noticed something different: one went into the toilets and came back reporting a bidet seat, one the air conditioning on the roof, one the shelf under the chairs, one the spicy noodles. What separates a real visit from a placed one is the record of eating, not the hashtags. And there is an irony worth stating. The one writer who declared a sponsorship is also the least flattering: the second floor was cramped enough to bother her, the sauce on the marinated ribs tasted shop-bought, and her verdict runs — "ordinary in taste, extraordinary in quantity." Nothing of the kind appears in the twenty that declared nothing.
- One price moves. Three posts from 22–23 April 2026 put the bakpo galbi at ₩15,000 for 200g; one from 2 May puts it at ₩17,000. Ten days apart — whether it rose, or that writer copied the ribs' price across, we could not settle. The ribs themselves do not move: all three dressings are ₩17,000 for 400g, from February through September. Which also means the price tells you nothing about what was ordered — with all three at the same figure, a receipt cannot say whether it was the plain or the hot.
