A gangjeong stand just inside the south entrance of Tongyeong's Jungang Market, on the left (Jungangsijang 1-gil 1, unit 104). The signature is gulgangjeong — fried oysters tossed in a sweet-salty glaze — sold with shrimp and boneless chicken versions. A small box costs 15,000 won (14,000 won up to a September 7, 2026 post), and most people took it back to their lodging or home. What we do not know
- Prices went up. The menu in a September 7, 2026 post showed small oyster gangjeong at 14,000 won, large at 25,000, shrimp and chicken at 14,000, and the beer set at 20,000; from September 23 on, posts show 15,000, 28,000, 15,000 and 21,000. Two posts spent 30,000 won on two boxes. One found the craft beer a little pricey.
- Opening hours are copied listings, not observations. Five posts from August 30, 2026 on give Sunday-Friday 11:00-19:30 and Saturday 11:00-21:00, two adding that it is open every day of the year. One June 30 post alone gave Monday-Saturday 10:00-19:30; we can't tell whether the hours changed.
- TV appearances, the oyster gangjeong patent and the claim that this shop invented the dish are the shop's own statements or hearsay, so we don't rely on them. Five posts plugged the receipt-review event (a free drink) and several share the same hashtag sequence, suggesting promotional copy, though none disclosed sponsorship. One post saw an actor's autograph on the wall.
- Only one post arrived by bus, advising that most town buses pass Jungang Market so you can just ask the driver. No post names the nearest stop.
