Yukmyeon

육면 The name is just two words: beef and noodles.

Compiled from 24 blog posts read in fullSources →

Yukmyeon stands alone on a rise among rice fields outside the county town of Hapcheon, serving cold buckwheat noodles and rib soup. The registered name carries a company prefix; the sign and the customers just say Yukmyeon — beef and noodles, which is exactly what it is. All three cold-noodle dishes arrive under sliced beef pancake, the Jinju style, and the house signature is the hybrid of the broth version and the sauced one. Two writers report tables around them ordering nothing but the rib soup. Eleven in the morning until evening with a long afternoon break, closed Thursdays. The posts we read run from October 2024 to September 2026.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

These hours are counted from the posts we read. Shops change them without notice — check Naver Place before you go. Place — check hours

What sets it apart

  1. This is a place you drive to. Four writers say public transport will not do it; one measures eighteen minutes on foot from the county sports ground. Six describe the same moment: the navigation app turns them onto a narrow farm lane, the fields go on, and they start asking whether this can possibly be right — then a three-storey building appears on its own, with no large sign, easy to drive past.
  2. People queue here. Nine posts describe waiting; three report walking straight in, and all three had dodged the hour — after lunch, at eleven when the doors open, early on a weekday. One writer arrived for opening and still found a crowd. You write your name on a list, and two posts warn that if they call it twice and you are not there, they move on. It moves quickly, though: one party with five tables ahead of them was seated inside fifteen minutes.
  3. The shop has built room for the queue: a container outside, a bench inside the door, and the terrace. Seven posts mention one or another. One calls the waiting area endless, and two say it was the size of it — not the reviews — that told them how busy this place gets.
  4. People linger after eating. There is a coffee machine by the door — milk or black — and six writers took a cup out to the front terrace to look over the fields. Two noticed that nobody seemed to leave straight after paying. One is careful to say the terrace is for sitting afterwards rather than for eating.
1 more
  1. The table comes nearly bare and the rest is self-serve. Thirteen posts describe the counter: cabbage kimchi, radish kimchi, pickled radish, garlic, green chilli, soybean paste. Two note that only the pickled radish arrives on its own, and three kept going back for the kimchi. One adds that there is no chilli paste at the counter — a thing worth knowing if you wanted your soup hotter.

Parking

Posts saying you can park14 of 24 posts

Fourteen posts mention parking and none of them counts the spaces. It comes in parts: a flat area below the building, an open lot behind it up the slope, and the roadside. Four call it roomy; one who came on a weekend lunchtime found the yard so tight that cars were playing Tetris and advises parking on the road instead. Two describe a line of cars down the lane as they left. It seems to depend entirely on when you come — but how many cars fit, nobody says.

Getting inside

Ramp at the door1 of 24 posts
Step at the entrance2 of 24 posts
Toilet inside2 of 24 posts

No post says which floor you eat on. One describes a free-standing building three storeys tall, and two mention parking split between a lower and an upper level — but that word is about where the cars go, and nothing connects it to the dining room. Two writers describe the inside as a maze, with annexe-like rooms opening behind the main hall, and two guess the place has been extended more than once as it got busier. Whether there are stairs inside, nobody says.

Nobody writes about getting in with a wheelchair or a pushchair. What we do know is the approach: the shop sits up a rise, with stone steps on the left and a slope on the right. One writer took her father, whose legs are bad, up the steps because she did not know about the slope — he said he would rather not eat at all — and she ends the post telling others to take the right-hand slope instead. The parking sits at the top of that slope. How steep or how wide it is, whether there is a lip at the door, whether the floor inside is level: no post says.

Only two writers describe the toilet from their own visit, and both simply say it is inside and easy to use. A third line about separate men's and women's rooms is word for word the phrase on the shop's map listing, so we have not counted it — copying is not seeing. How many stalls, how tight, whether there is a changing table: nobody says.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 27 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Writers do not agree on how big it is. Three call it roomy — good for a group, mostly four-tops plus a long table, plenty of seats. One says it is not what you would call large. One splits the difference precisely: a great many tables, but not much room between them. Five mention partitions or room-like alcoves, which may be why the whole and the part read so differently. A party of seventeen ate in one of those separated spaces.
  • No post declares a sponsorship. Eight state plainly that they paid; the rest say nothing about money either way. Five, though, came through the county's half-price travel scheme, which refunds trip spending in local vouchers — so those five may have arrived on an itinerary rather than because they were looking for this place. One paid by the local QR scheme.
  • Some get the scorched-rice tea and some do not. Three writers describe a hot bowl of it arriving before the food. One in April 2025 writes that she had read about it, never got any, and could not tell whether it is brought to you or fetched yourself. Whether you have to ask, or whether it simply goes missing when they are busy, no post says.
