Dongpirang Jjugul

동피랑쭈굴 Dongpirang is the hillside mural village right behind the shop, and jjugul blends jjukkumi (webfoot octopus) and gul (oyster), the two things stir-fried together in its signature dish.

Compiled from 19 blog posts read in fullSources →

A webfoot-octopus-and-oyster restaurant on the main road at Tongyeonghaean-ro 363-1, below Jungang Market and the Dongpirang mural village. You order a set built around jjugul-bokkeum — octopus and oysters stir-fried together — with seaweed soup, seafood pancake, a salad and banchan, then pick one meal dish: mulhoe, sea-squirt bibimbap, raw-fish rice or oyster bibimbap. Among visit posts, nine ordered the B-set (adds fried oysters and grilled fish) and nine the basic one-dish set. The B-set was listed at 26,000 or 27,000 won per person and the basic sets at 20,000–22,000 won. We read 30 posts dated 5 January to 26 October 2026; 20 describe actually eating here, the other 10 mention it in round-ups or trip plans.

Rows without a count: 2 of 19 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Portions come up again and again: twelve of the twenty visit posts called them generous — one couple felt their two-person order arrived as three, another said the mulhoe and bibimbap inside the set were full-size. A family of four ordered two sets and two single dishes and found it just right. One post, though, found only two oysters in the stir-fry, asked, and was brought extra.
  2. Ten posts called the stir-fry spicy and two said it wasn't. Even the 'spicy' posts often hedged — mildly hot, easy enough for a mother who can't handle heat. The two dissenters said it wasn't hot at all and tasted more nutty than spicy. Two posts also noted sweetness in the sauce.
  3. Nine posts mention the receipt-review event: write a review and choose either a mug with the octopus mascot or 1,000 won off. Some drew the mug from a lucky-draw box, and others noted a 1,000-won coupon for following the shop on Naver Place. One diner wanted the discount but ended up 'pushed into' the mug when the staff member fumbled.
  4. Six posts called the fried dishes crisp — the fried oysters thin-battered and crunchy, the seafood pancake crisp outside and moist inside. One July visitor said the oysters were small because they were out of season.

Parking

5 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Posts saying you cannot5 of 19 posts

There is no lot of its own: five posts said so and parked in nearby public lots, and seven say they came by car. The Dpirang public lots are a two-to-five-minute walk; the 50% parking voucher handed out at checkout mostly appears in pasted info blocks (one notes 1,100 won an hour and that vouchers can run out). Two posts struggled to park at lunch on a holiday or weekend; one weekend-lunch visitor had no trouble.

Getting inside

Toilet inside3 of 19 posts

No post described the floor or any stairs from experience; '1st floor' only appears in pasted addresses. That means nobody wrote about it, not that it isn't at street level.

Nobody wrote about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. Three posts came with a baby or child, but none mentioned a stroller.

Three posts said from experience that the restroom is inside, toward the back. Separate men's and women's rooms (one stall each) appear only in pasted info blocks, so we didn't count them.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 10 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Expect a wait at peak lunch. One post got in at noon and saw a queue form by 12:30, with staff telling phone callers there are no reservations; another waited a long time even well past lunch. One found seats at 11:30 but a nearly full room by 12:30, and one said a weekday lunch was quiet. No post gave a wait in minutes.
  • Opinions on space differ: five posts called it roomy (four-tops pushed together for eight or more, group tables), one said it was a bit cramped, and one said neither large nor small.
  • No post described arriving by bus. Visitors either drove or didn't say how they came; one simply said to walk along the honey-bread street from Jungang Market until you see the blue sign.
  • Staff get one vote each way: one Sunday visitor found them very kind, another found them a little curt.
  • Prices and set names vary by post. The B-set is listed at 26,000 won per person (March and October 2026) and 27,000 won (June–July). One October post said the old mulhoe and bibimbap sets had become A/B/C sets at higher prices, yet August–September posts still called them the mulhoe set at 22,000 and raw-fish rice set at 20,000 won. Four posts thought the price fair; one found the sets a bit pricey. The A-set with raw and steamed oysters (31,000 won per person) is winter-only.
  • All opening hours come from pasted info blocks. Most agree on 10:30–20:40 on weekdays with a 16:00–17:00 weekday break, and 10:40–21:00 on Saturdays. Sunday closing is given as 20:40, 21:00 or 21:40, and last order is usually 19:30 on weekdays though some say 19:45 or 19:50. No visit post listed a closing day.
  • Most posts give the phone number as 0507-1424-3697. One post heard staff tell lunchtime callers that reservations weren't taken and they should come and wait, while another post's info block lists reservations as an amenity — so whether you can book is unclear.
  • Six visit posts say they paid themselves, with receipt verification; the other fourteen don't say either way. One repeats the same hashtags and links to the shop's own blog with an invitation to visit, so it reads like promotion.
