Grill house

Gudeuljjang Hwangso Gopchang Yeongtong-jeom

구들짱황소곱창 영통점 The Yeongtong branch of a Suwon offal-grill chain, a minute from Mangpo station, where the staff cook everything for you and the large intestine is stuffed green with scallion.

Compiled from 15 blog posts read in fullSources →

Gudeuljjang Hwangso Gopchang in Yeongtong is a beef-offal grill a minute's walk from exit 6 at Mangpo station, in the eating lane behind the post office. Round tables, a stone plate set into each one, and intestine, large intestine, abomasum, omasum and heart cooked on it — cooked by the staff, not by you. What marks this branch out is two things stuffed with something: intestine packed with chopped scallion, and a large intestine filled with pressed vegetable and fruit that turns its centre green. Four in the afternoon on weekdays, one o'clock at weekends, until one in the morning, every day of the year. The posts we read run from October 2024 to September 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

These hours are counted from the posts we read. Shops change them without notice — check Naver Place before you go. Place — check hours

What sets it apart

  1. Nobody here picks up the tongs. Thirteen writers say the staff do the grilling, and nine of them say they do all of it: laying it out, lighting it, judging each cut, cutting it up with scissors, adding the kimchi and bean sprouts and chives, and turning the fried rice at the end. One explains why that matters — offal is genuinely hard to cook, each cut on its own clock. A regular puts it as advice: don't poke at it, and it will taste better. Four note that the intestine arrives part-cooked and only the heart comes raw. A flame goes up the moment the plate lands; one writer warns it lasts about a second, so have the camera ready, and another singed her fringe on it.
  2. Six o'clock is the line. The eight writers who mention waiting divide cleanly by the clock. The four who came before six sat down: at twenty to six one watched the room fill and go full just after the hour; at five another found it nearly empty; at half six a third found three tables left and thought herself lucky; the fourth simply came early on a weekday. The four who came after work did not — one hit a queue the moment she arrived, one says peak hours on a weekday mean waiting and weekends might too, one photographed a full house on a Monday evening, and one arrived braced for a queue and got the last table. There are only nine or ten round tables, two writers note.
  3. Two things arrive that you did not order. The steamed egg and the bean-paste stew both carry prices on the board, ₩2,000 each, and twelve writers record them turning up anyway. The egg comes in its own pot, and everyone gives it the same job: something hot to eat while the offal cooks. The stew, they say, cuts the fat. A taste of tripe comes free as well, and on weekdays so does raw liver — one writer notes it is a weekday thing, another arrived too late and found it gone.
  4. There are two or three tables outside. Seven writers mention them and all use the same word for it — yajang, the open-air drinking table. Two or three go out when the weather allows; one writer took one of them and remembers the cool air more than the food. Two who came in winter ate inside and promised themselves the outside table next time; one who came in summer warned it would probably kill you. When it is fine, another notes, they simply fold the front of the shop open.

  1. You walk from exit 6 at Mangpo. Seven writers say so, putting it at a minute, at thirty seconds, at ninety metres, or simply across the road. The branch is called Yeongtong but it is outside Mangpo station, and two writers point that out. The landmark is the Yeongtong post office — behind it, beside it, depending who is writing. One says the big red sign makes it easy.
  2. There are signatures on the wall, and eight writers all spotted the same one — a singer whose name means a full house in this country. Four of the eight only noticed on the way out, one of them finding it half-hidden behind something else; one also reports autographs from a baseball manager and from Maradona. On television they disagree: one names one programme, one names another, a third just says it has been on. One writer was told the scallion-stuffed intestine is patented, and nobody has checked.

Parking

Posts saying you cannot4 of 15 posts

Better to leave the car. There is no car park. Two writers mention a space or two in front of the shop and both mention enforcement in the same breath. The one writer who actually drove parked instead at the roadside public car park by the post office, following her satnav to it; she had also looked for the one by Yeongtong station exit 2 and found nothing there in October 2025, possibly building works. The others point to the public car park at Mangpo exit 2, two minutes away. One notes that the marked bays across the road have never once, in her experience, been free.

Getting inside

Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 15 posts read)

Nobody states which floor it is on. The licence records the ground floor, and what the posts do describe — the front folding open in good weather, tables going out onto the pavement, the shop visible as you walk up from the station — fits a place you step into from the street. But not one post says anything about steps either way, so we have not counted it as ground level.

Nobody has looked at the doorway, and nobody has measured the gaps. In fifteen posts the words wheelchair, pushchair, step, threshold and ramp do not appear once, and no writer brought a child. What we know is that there are nine or ten round tables, that one writer calls the room not exactly spacious, and that in good weather the front opens and two or three tables go outside. Whether you can get in, nobody says.

One person wrote that the toilet is outside the shop, in the building. Only two of the fifteen posts mention a toilet at all. The second says only that there are separate men's and women's — but that line sits beside a note about a Naver sign-up coupon, so it reads as copied from the listing rather than seen, and we have not counted it. Whether they are in fact separate, where in the building they are, and whether you step outside to reach them: we do not know.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 16 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • This page is about the Mangpo branch only. The chain has several shops in Suwon — one writer counts eight — and of the twenty-four posts gathered under the name, seven turned out to be about other branches and were removed: five about Gwanggyo, two about the original house in Ingye-dong. The menus differ: Ingye-dong sells pork belly and a cheese topping that this branch does not, and has two sets where this one has five; Gwanggyo prices the stuffed large intestine higher, sells two other cuts this branch does not, validates two hours of parking and closes on the first and third Sundays. Two writers state that the scallion-stuffed cuts exist only here, and one says she chose this branch deliberately after finding the others' version wanting. A third passes on a friend's verdict that this branch beats the original. That is what they wrote, not something we have checked.
  • The scallion-stuffed intestine is not always there. It is made in limited numbers, so late arrivals miss it — one writer went for it and found it gone, another got it but was told it was still being made and would take five minutes. The same happens to the prime intestine: one evening visitor found it sold out. And the scallion version is not sold as a single portion at all, only inside the ₩97,000 set; one writer checked, gave up, and resolved to come back with more people. The raw liver runs out too.
  • No post here declares a sponsorship, and five say outright that they paid — one attaching a May 2026 receipt. Two of the posts we removed, though, were copies of the map listing: one reproduced the tally of what visitors had said about the food, the other pasted review counts and tag lists for ten restaurants in the neighbourhood. Neither records a meal. The numbers on this page are out of fifteen.
