Ami Chobap is a sushi shop on the ground floor of the Lotte Plaza arcade by Mangpo station in Suwon. Thirteen of the twenty-two writers ordered the same thing: the couple set — twenty pieces, prawn tempura and a half-bowl of noodles for ₩31,000, a price that has not moved in two years. At weekday lunch, ten pieces and a small udon come to ₩9,900. Four writers remark on the long tails of fish hanging off the rice; four more on a salmon roll about the size of a fist. A self-service counter in the middle of the room holds cabbage salad, miso soup and pickles, as much as you want (fourteen posts). Twelve say it is bigger inside than it looks from the street. Open until ten every night. The posts we read run from September 2024 to September 2026. Twenty-two, not twenty-four — we set aside one post that copies the Naver listing wholesale, and one template post that calls the shop by the wrong name.

What sets it apart
- The self-service counter is the character of the place. Cabbage salad, miso soup, pickled radish and ginger in the middle of the room, as much as you like — fourteen posts mention it, six of them went back for more, and three single out the sesame dressing. One writer puts her finger on why it matters: you do not have to keep asking a server. Another's husband, dieting, kept returning for salad. The first setting comes to the table; refills are yours to fetch, and seven posts note that the miso soup is self-service from the start.
- Two years and the prices have not moved. The couple set is ₩31,000 in nine posts from November 2024 to April 2026; the weekday lunch has been ₩9,900 since February 2025. Eight writers call it good value and none calls it dear — two of them remark how rare ten pieces under ten thousand won has become. Local vouchers are taken: three posts name the Onnuri scheme (card and QR), one the Suwon city card, and one works out that the top-up subsidy makes it feel like earning money. A February 2026 post says the Onnuri scheme has become usable, so it seems to have arrived in between.
- Bigger inside than out — twelve posts say so. It looked like a small sushi bar from the street and opened up; it runs long and narrow; the ceiling is high and the tables are fewer than the room would allow. One writer notices that nothing is placed in the walking line, so a busy hour should still be comfortable. Four think it would suit a family or a group; three that it suits eating alone — and one of those did exactly that at weekday lunch, among enough other solo diners not to feel watched. One post disagrees outright: December 2025 calls it small and homely.

Three writers actually arrived by car: one notes free parking in the building, one found the underground car park easy on a collection run, and one lists parking among the shop's merits. Two mention the large underground car park of the Lotte Plaza arcade, but their sentences read as the shop's own blurb, so we have not counted them. Nobody says how long the free parking lasts. Four posts that merely contain the word are reproducing the Naver facilities list.

Getting inside
Ground floor. The licence gives unit 136, ground floor, 16 Deokyeong-daero 1555beon-gil, and one post repeats that exactly. Two more simply place it on the ground floor of the arcade. No post mentions stairs or a lift. The street number, though, is written differently from post to post — five carry a check-in line reading number 20, and one gives an entirely different street. Searching the name will find it, but if you are navigating by number, check the map first.
No post says whether you can get in with a wheelchair or a pram — no threshold, no door width, no ramp. What can be read out of the posts is only that it is on the ground floor of an arcade, right at the front (two posts) and that the ceiling is high and nothing blocks the walking line (two) — which is not the same as saying you can get in. Nor did anyone bring a child; one writer mentions a son who loves sushi, but not that he came.
Nobody has written about the toilet from having seen it. One post lists separate men's and women's — but that post copies the Naver listing wholesale, and we set it aside; the same block runs on through wi-fi and group bookings. Whether it is inside the shop or out in the arcade, and whether it is separate, we do not know.

Of the 24 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- On how fast the food comes, the posts split. Two found it quick — made as it was ordered. Four found it slow: one notes that the owner makes everything himself while his wife serves; one's half-udon arrived as the sushi ran out; one's buckwheat came late; and for a collection, allow ten to fifteen minutes and ring ahead. One post counts two people running the place, so at a busy hour it is worth expecting a wait.
- Nobody reports queueing. Three say the opposite: straight in at three on a Saturday; a weekday lunch that never got crowded; and an opening-time visit where the tables filled up gradually afterwards. Two found a fair number of people at weekday lunch, but no one describes a wait. Whether you can book, nobody says in their own words — the two posts that list booking are copying the Naver listing.
- No post declares a sponsorship. Nine say they paid their own way; the other thirteen do not say — and silence is not the same as paying. Worth setting beside that: three writers found the food unremarkable. The owner was very kind but the food was just food, says one (July 2026, who took photographs and decided not to post them); nothing particularly distinctive, 3.8 out of 5 (May 2026); and, under a heading of faults to be scraped together, I can't say it was especially good (November 2024). All three still praise the welcome, the room and the value. There is a range of sake and beer by the bottle, but a writer who wanted draught in September 2026 was told not that day.
