Dalso

달소 A fourth-floor drinking house in Uijeongbu, better known for its fried chicken than for the soju in its name

Data as of · Published ·

Dalso takes the whole fourth floor of a building in the back lanes of Uijeongbu's Sinsigaji, behind the main strip. The name is a contraction the sign spells out for you: 'a sweet glass of soju'. Five in the evening until two in the morning, four on Fridays and Saturdays, and several writers say it never closes for a holiday. It is a drinking house, but the chicken is what people had heard about first — it is listed on the delivery apps as a chicken shop in its own right. Writers repeat that it seats a hundred, and wedding after-parties and end-of-term gatherings come up again and again. There is a dartboard, a claw machine and a big screen. The posts we read run from November 2024 to June 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. It is closer to a games room that serves drinks. There is a dartboard, a claw machine by the door, and a big screen on the wall running dramas and variety shows. Several writers look at that screen and say what a place this would be for the football or the baseball — and not one of them writes about actually watching a match here. They all say it in the conditional. The claw machine is not always on: one asked and was told the thing throws off heat, so they switch it on a while after opening; another simply found it dark. Several write about the graffiti and the drawings on the walls.
  2. Two bottles bring a third, and that is the house's signature. Ten thousand won for three. What is worth noticing is that the offer does not move: it reads identically in a November 2024 post and a June 2026 one, twenty months apart. That is not a promotion, it is how the place prices drink. One couple walked in meaning to have one or two, took the three, and left having drunk four. Another does the arithmetic and gets ₩3,300 a bottle. On top of that, a receipt review on Naver gets you a sherbet — three posts mention it; one writer actually received one.
  3. A free snack lands when you sit, and no two writers call it the same thing. Eight say pretzels, one says puffed rice crackers, one says crushed fried noodles. Whether that is one snack described three ways or a bowl that changes, we cannot tell. What they agree on is the taste: like sweet chilli chicken, salty-sweet, impossible to leave alone. Two meant to ask where it is sold and forgot. One writes it up because her friend told her to put in that the free snack was good. Another liked that the water comes as a sealed bottle.
  4. People come to this bar to talk about the chicken. Several say they came on someone's word that it was good. One got suspicious — a drinking place with a full range of chicken as its main line — went looking on the delivery apps, and found it trading there as a chicken shop. The crust is called thin and crisp across several posts, and three writers measure it against the chains and put it level or above. Three could not finish and took the rest away; one notes the extra sauce packed in with it. Seven delivery reviews clustered in March and April 2025 are left out of our count — nobody in them went to the shop.
  5. The room reads as built for groups. There are rooms partitioned off by curtain or wall, and two writers were told they get dressed up for parties. One gives numbers: eight to fifteen in the room, six to a hundred in the hall. Three think of the wedding halls nearby and the receptions that spill out of them; two came for start-of-term and end-of-year parties. Two say that if you ring with your numbers and time, they set out a wide table for you. It cuts the other way too — one writer was told on arrival that the tables were closer together than usual because of a booking that night, and another found the chicken gone because a group had finished it the evening before.

Parking

Posts saying you can park2 of 20 posts

Many posts say there is parking; almost nobody actually parked. Several of those mentions sit inside the copied facilities list, and one is a line repeated back from a member of staff. Two writers saw it for themselves. One drove, put the car in a small public lot nearby, and photographed the building's own — room for about five, she reckons, and staff told her to move the cone off an empty bay and take it. The other arrived by taxi but looked at the same bays and wrote that it is first come, first served and not roomy. Nobody calls it easy.

Getting inside

Separate restrooms4 of 20 posts

Not at street level — the fourth floor, with a lift. Plenty of writers rode it and said so, and one notes the name marked large inside the lift and on the wall beside it, so there was no hunting. Dalso has the whole floor to itself, which one writer contrasts with the cramped feeling of sharing a landing with other shops. The toilets and the smoking room are up there too, so there is no going back down. From the street, several found it by the outsized sign or the banner on the building. Nobody writes about taking the stairs.

Not one writer looked at the door. Several rode the lift and said so — two of them note that the entrance is on your left as you step out of it. But nobody says whether there is a step at that door, or what the room is like to cross. One post does say the place is wheelchair-accessible; that line sits inside a copied run of Naver's facilities list — takeaway, groups, wi-fi, separate toilets, wheelchair access, local currency — lifted whole. Written down is not the same as seen. If it matters, ring ahead and ask.

The toilets are not inside the room — you go out for them. They are on the same fourth floor and right by the door, though, and one writer says that made no odds at all. Two describe stepping out of the lift to find the toilets on the right and the bar on the left. Four mention that men's and women's are separate, and three of those four had been in: one for the smell of the diffuser, one startled to find a mirror and a dressing shelf in the women's, one amused by a sign that seems to exist because drinkers get the doors wrong. Whether there is an accessible toilet, nobody says.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 9 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2025-03-192 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • You can get there without a car. The writers who walked give their own distances and none of them contradict: near exit 1 of the light-rail station, under five minutes, and one who times it at forty seconds and rounds up to one. The Line 1 station is further — two minutes by one account, six by another. One booked a room nearby and strolled over; one took a taxi. Two note that being behind the main strip keeps the street quiet. But this place runs late, and nobody writes about how they got home — Fridays and Saturdays it goes until four in the morning.
  • Not one writer queued. What they hit instead is things being sold out — four posts. A group the night before had cleared the chicken; the boneless was off, so no chicken at all; one lists the sold-out menu among the evening's downsides; one advises ringing first if you have your heart set on something. The four are spread from July 2025 to June 2026. Three say the food was slow, and two of those were given a chive pancake for it — a dish that is not on the menu. Three who came at five or six had the room to themselves.
  • Read the free things and the paid things apart. Two posts declare a sponsorship: one opens by saying she was picked for a blogger campaign (she ate in the room), and one carries a #sponsored tag at the top (delivery, so it is out of our count anyway). Beyond that, three mention the sherbet you get for a receipt review, and four more record something given without charge — two chive pancakes for a slow kitchen, a cup of ice, a box for the leftovers. And a good many posts carry the same four hashtags in the same order. That can be the mark of commissioned copy, so we note it. But the bodies do not match each other — what was ordered, what it cost, what was sold out that night, whether the claw machine was lit — and there is a record of eating in each, so we counted them.
