Boyeong Sikdang

보영식당 Sikdang simply means eatery; Boyeong is a given name the founder got from a name-maker in 1978, and by a notice at the entrance she later gave the same name to her youngest son.

A two-storey place in a side lane of Uijeongbu's budae-jjigae street (26 Taepyeong-ro 133beon-gil) serving a single dish, Uijeongbu-style budae-jjigae. It is 12,000 won a head; you add a 7,000-won mixed topping or 1,000-won noodles and boil the pot yourself on a burner at the table. Seven posts mention a bottle or jug of broth at every table for topping up, and six mention honey rice cakes among the side dishes. We read 30 posts dated 28 May to 26 October 2026; 15 describe an actual meal there. Four were about other restaurants and set aside, and eleven were lists, festival guides or a takeout eaten at home, which we did not count. Posts cluster after the place appeared on the TV show Jeon Hyun-moo Plan 4 on 14 August 2026.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Expect to wait at mealtimes. The four posts that waited give 10 minutes (13:30 on a public holiday, four groups ahead), 20 minutes (10:30 in the morning, five groups ahead), 30 minutes, and 'a little' at 12:30 on a weekend. The 30-minute post says names go on an A4 sheet in arrival order, not an app, and if you are not there when called you lose your turn. One post arrived at 19:30 on a holiday just after the broadcast to find the ingredients had run out. One noted takeout skips the queue.
  2. Eight posts found the portion generous; one felt the ham and sausage were scant compared with chain restaurants and said the pot is clearly smaller without the mixed topping. Another, three people, paid 48,000 won for three portions plus two toppings and still had ham left over.
  3. Six posts describe the broth as sharp and spicy, led by kimchi, gochujang and minced garlic with no cheese by default. One found it saltier than expected, and another said it is punchier than Odeng Sikdang next door. The claim that 10,000 heads of cabbage are pickled and cold-aged each year comes from the shop's own notice, which posts copied.
  4. Four posts came with children. One found high chairs and a microwave for warming baby food; another says the child finished the honey rice cakes before the stew arrived.

Parking

10 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park10 of 14 posts

There is a restaurant car park: ten posts parked or saw parking, most of them mentioning attendants directing cars. Its size is disputed — one post says the spots in front hold 'four or five' cars, fill fast at mealtimes, and it was given a one-hour public car park voucher; two others call the parking ample. One post found it full on a weekend and parked elsewhere.

Getting inside

Second floor4 of 14 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 2 (of 14 posts read)

Seating is on two floors. Four posts mention the upstairs room — one was sent up when the ground floor was full, and a party of nine including children split across two tables there. One post saw comedian Kwak Beom's May 2026 autograph on the way down. Nobody mentioned a basement.

No visit post says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller got in. 'Wheelchair access' appears only in one post's copied listing block, which we did not count. That means unknown, not absent.

Nobody wrote about the toilet — whether it is inside or separated by sex.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 25 posts we gathered, 11 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-10-262 posts in one day
2026-10-232 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Opening hours appear to have changed in mid-August 2026. The two posts from May and 17 August give 08:00–21:00 (last order 20:30) with no afternoon break; all seven posts from 23 August list a 15:00–17:00 break, six with a 20:30 close and one with 20:00. Most of these are copied from listing blocks. One post found plenty of diners at 3 pm on a weekend, so we do not know whether the break applies on weekends. Two posts say it is open every day.
  • Every post gives 12,000 won per portion of stew. Seven posts put the mixed topping at 7,000 won; one wrote 5,000 won (29,000 won total for two portions plus topping). One post says extra broth for takeout costs 3,000 won.
  • Four posts give the phone number as 031-842-1129 and two give 0507-1479-1136. One post saw reserved tables, but none explains how to book.
  • One visit post repeats the same metaphor more than ten times and carries a pasted listing block; we counted only what it describes experiencing. Several post-broadcast 'best restaurants' lists appeared, and we did not count their waiting, parking or hours claims.
