Shabu Mania

샤브마니아 양주옥정점 Syabeumania Yangju Okjeong-jeom Shabu Mania pairs 'shabu', for shabu-shabu hot pot, with 'mania' — a hot-pot and Vietnamese rice-paper wrap house with an all-you-can-take self bar; Yangju Okjeong-jeom marks the Okjeong branch in Yangju.

A shabu-shabu and Vietnamese rice-paper wrap house in a single-storey building at 190 Hoecheonnam-ro, Okjeong-dong, Yangju, next to the Yangju post office. Meat comes by the portion; vegetables, mushrooms, noodles, wrap fixings and self-bar dishes such as tteokbokki, fried rice, tortillas and yogurt are unlimited. The weekday lunch beef set, served until 3 p.m., is 13,900 won a head (12,900 won in posts up to December 2025), with a choice of clear, spicy or half-and-half broth. Diners finish with noodles or rice porridge cooked in the leftover broth. We read 28 posts from 20 October 2025 to 7 October 2026; we set aside one about the Dongducheon branch and two that only promote the place, leaving 25 visits.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Five posts went with children. Two mention high chairs, including a Bumbo seat, and three mention raised-platform or floor seating. One family asked at the counter and was told charges start at primary-school age, so their two toddlers ate free; another ordered only extra meat for two primary-school children. Two posts say the owner handed the kids sweets.
  2. Five posts found the spicy broth genuinely hot, one saying hotter than expected. Fifteen ordered the split pot, and posts split on which side they preferred.
  3. Six posts are by repeat visitors, one on a fourth visit, another calling it a regular haunt. Two mention a stamp card that earns free meat.

Posts saying you can park18 of 24 posts

Eighteen posts mention the car park, a surface lot right in front of the door. Three give a size — two say over 50 spaces, one at least 20. One warns that despite its size it fills up fast when the place is busy. Three posts say they drove.

Getting inside

Second flooryes 0 · no 1 (of 24 posts read)
In a basementyes 0 · no 2 (of 24 posts read)
Toilet insideyes 0 · no 2 (of 24 posts read)

It is a one-storey building: two posts describe a green single-storey building and a ground floor in a stand-alone building. No post mentions stairs.

Nobody says whether there is a step at the door or whether they got in with a wheelchair or pushchair. One post says the entrance passage is a little narrow but not uncomfortably so, and another found it fairly easy to move a pushchair around inside. A 'wheelchair accessible' line in one post is copied listing text, so we did not count it either way.

Two posts say the toilet is outside the dining room — one notes this is a nuisance in heat, cold or rain. None places it inside, and nobody mentions whether it is separated by sex or how big it is.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 26 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Prices have gone up. Nine posts up to December 2025 give the weekday lunch beef set at 12,900 won; eight from February 2026 give 13,900 won. The evening and weekend beef set moved from 15,900 won (October 2025) to 16,900 won (April 2026). Seventeen posts call it cheap or good value and none calls it expensive, though one notes that once you add extra meat it costs about the same as a rival chain.
  • Only one post addresses public transport, and it says the place is awkward to reach without a car. No post names a station or bus stop.
  • No post reports waiting. One that arrived around 2 p.m. on a weekday was seated straight away; the noon queue it mentions is hearsay. Several say it was crowded at lunch or filled up quickly. One post shows a waiting area. Two booked ahead — one through Naver, one by phoning the order in so the table was set on arrival.
  • Seventeen visit posts give opening hours, but apart from one that read them off the door (11 a.m. to 9 p.m.) they are copied listings. Fifteen say 11:00–21:00 and two from February 2026 say 11:00–22:00; last orders are 20:00 in eight posts and 21:00 in one. No post mentions a closing day.
  • Most posts that give a phone number list 0507-1340-3205; one gives 031-862-3205 instead. One post booked through Naver and one by phone.
  • We did not count two posts as visits: they repeat promotional phrasing and hashtags rather than saying what was ordered or paid, and one describes the self bar differently from every other post. A further post was about the Dongducheon branch of the same chain and was set aside.
