Namdareun Tteokbokki

남다른 떡볶이 Namdareun means 'set apart from others' or 'out of the ordinary', so the name reads as 'tteokbokki unlike the rest'.

Compiled from 5 blog posts read in fullSources →

A neighborhood snack shop in Okjeong-dong, Yangju, in unit 113 of Dasan Plaza across from Mart King. It serves wheat-cake tteokbokki, oversized fritters and gimbap, to eat in or take away. An April 2026 post paid 4,000 won for a serving of tteokbokki; the menu board copied in a June post shows 4,500 won. We read 8 posts dated April to October 2026. Three were about other businesses with similar names (two Namdareun Daegu Makchang branches and a rice-cake shop in Myeonmok-dong) and were set aside, which leaves 5 posts by people who went.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. What the posts bring up first here is the fritters, not the tteokbokki. Four of the five posts by visitors said the fritters were crisp. All three posts that ordered the stuffed chili fritter said it was packed full, and one described a meat filling like a pan-fried patty inside the pepper. Another said it was not greasy.
  2. All five posts by visitors were written by people who went back. One was a second visit, one returned for a late lunch the very next day, and one said they had been eating here since their pregnancy.
  3. Two posts described the seating: one said about three tables, the other two four-person tables plus a side table. It is a small room, and two posts mentioned students from the nearby elementary and high schools eating there. The owner runs it alone, but one post said a phone order was ready in about ten minutes.

Parking

Posts saying you can park2 of 5 posts

Two posts mention the building's underground car park. One found it almost empty on a weekday afternoon, and the other said the ramp in is narrow. A third post only said people tend to park on the street out front. We did not count a claim that street parking is tolerated at lunchtime, because the writer was passing on what someone told them.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 1 (of 5 posts read)
Step-free access1 of 5 posts

Only one post mentioned the floor, saying the shop is on the ground floor of the building across from Mart King.

Only one post described getting in: the writer brought a stroller inside without much trouble. No one mentioned a step at the entrance or wheelchair access. That does not mean there is none; we simply do not know.

None of the five visitors mentioned a restroom. We do not know whether there is one inside or whether it is separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Prices rose between April and June 2026. The April post paid 4,000 won per serving of tteokbokki, 2,000 won for the chili fritter and 1,000 won for the seaweed roll; the June post's menu board shows 4,500, 2,500 and 1,500 won. The squid fritter was 1,500 won in both. No later post gives prices, so we do not know what they are now.
  • On opening hours, one post copied a listing (weekdays 11:00-19:00, Saturday 08:30-14:00, closed Sunday, closing early if food runs out), and another writer's own account agrees: it closes at 7 on weekdays and 2 on Saturday and is shut on Sunday. No visitor stated the opening time themselves. One writer said they often miss it because it closes early.
  • The phone number 0507-1477-7763 appears only in one post's copied listing. One post mentions ordering by phone for pickup; the note that advance orders are accepted came from a sign in the shop, so we did not count it.
  • No one described getting there by subway or bus. The posts only place it across from Mart King, right next to Okjeong High School. Two writers walked from home and one drove.
  • No post mentions waiting in line. That does not mean there is never a line; nobody wrote about it.
  • Only two posts said who they went with: one writer bought food alone and ate in the car, and another brought a baby in a stroller and took food home for the family. No post describes going with friends or a group.
