Gogirang

고기랑 A two-storey charcoal grill house in Ingye-dong built for company dinners — you grill your own, and you can park out front.

Data as of · Published ·

Gogirang is a two-storey stand-alone grill house at the far end of the Na Hye-seok street in Ingye-dong, seven or eight minutes on foot from exit 9 at Suwon City Hall station. Pork belly, collar and house-marinated ribs sit on the same menu as black-cattle short rib and Suwon's king ribs, and you grill it yourself over hardwood charcoal. The ground floor is the dining room; the whole of the first floor is given over to company dinners, partitioned into rooms for eight, fifteen, thirty, forty, seventy and a hundred and fifty — 340 seats in all, the shop says. Eleven in the morning to eleven at night (ten on Sundays), closed between three and half past four on weekdays. It is one of the few places in Ingye-dong where you can park out front, and at lunch it runs a separate set menu around ₩10,000. The posts we read run from December 2024 to September 2026.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

These hours are counted from the posts we read. Shops change them without notice — check Naver Place before you go. Place — check hours

What sets it apart

  1. Nobody grills it for you. Five writers say so, and one gives the reason: "the prices are low, so you cook your own." With so many grill houses now doing it for you, this is worth knowing before you go. One writer at a wedding-invitation dinner found herself with "a phone in one hand and tongs and scissors in the other — I barely touched a side dish"; another had a friend who took over. Not everyone minds: one was glad of the chance to show off skills she had not used in a while. The marinated ribs catch easily, so watch those. The charcoal is hot, the meat cooks fast, and one writer notes the extraction is strong enough that the smell does not follow you home.
  2. The entire first floor is for company dinners. Rooms for eight, fifteen, thirty, forty, seventy and a hundred and fifty, joined or divided with sliding doors and partitions; with the ground floor that comes to 340 seats. What the people who went upstairs keep noting is the name cards on each room door — booked out even on a weekday. One writer simply asked to see it and was shown round. Booking is through Naver, and five or more is automatically put in a room; four or fewer can walk in. One writer's company held its eighty-person end-of-year dinner here and the bill came to over four million won.
  3. A steamed egg arrives that is not on the menu. Twelve writers mention it; it comes out while the meat is still cooking and that is what it is for. The side dishes are worth naming too: wild-garlic leaves in soy and aged kimchi from Haenam come up most often, and one writer had never before seen shredded dried squid laid over the dressed spring onion. Beyond the usual soybean paste there are three more condiments — salt and pepper, wasabi, salted hairtail gut — with a card on the wall telling you how to use them. One says the sides taste like home cooking; another that the leaves are heaped high enough that she never had to ask for more.
  4. The signatures are the first thing you see. Eight writers mention them — a wall of them behind the till and by the door — and more than ten posts repeat that the eating YouTuber Tzuyang filmed a Suwon king-rib episode here with a professional sports team. Others note a television appearance and a 2024 Blue Ribbon listing. Not everyone is swayed: "I'd heard Tzuyang raved about it. It's a good room for a company dinner, but the food isn't obviously better than anywhere else."
  5. The cuts are thick — nine writers say so, one putting the belly at close to three centimetres. The shop advertises 200 hours of ageing at one degree (it appears in seven posts) and no added seasoning. Two writers note the ageing fridge on the way to the toilet, where you can see the meat hanging. One explains the belly is five-layer pork with the rind removed, which makes it chewier, and five posts repeat the shop's line about using nothing but hardwood charcoal — no briquettes.
  6. There is a smoking room — two writers mention it, one adding that hardly anywhere has one any more, the other placing it off to one side on the first floor where it is handy during a company dinner. The toilets are to the right of the ground-floor entrance, halfway up the stairs, and separated by sex. By the till there are sweets and coffee, and two writers note floss and hair ties as well; one was grateful, having spent evenings with chilli flakes in her teeth.
  7. Most call it good value; one does not. Seven make the case — "300g of house-marinated pork ribs for ₩19,000 is cheap"; "cheap for the amount, and well above the price"; "my old office was in Ingye-dong and we ate out constantly, and this was the best value of any of them" — while one writes simply "the prices aren't exactly low, are they?" The split seems to follow what people ordered: pork ribs and belly are ₩19,000 and ₩16,000, but the king ribs are ₩43,000 and the sirloin ₩41,000. A receipt review takes ₩2,000 off the table, which three writers note.
  8. Three writers brought children and three mention the high chairs. The one who came with two children was given separate small plates and cutlery, and put together a children's plate of ribs, cold noodles and steamed egg. Two note their children went for the free steamed egg, and one describes a room full of families over the lunar new year. What recurs is that the marinade is mild enough for children.

These are raw counts, not percentages. Someone who did not mention something is not someone who disagreed.

The most ordered dish is gibon-chan (기본찬 (명이나물·해남산 묵은지·파채)) — 15 of 22 posts.

The prices here are what bloggers wrote down in their posts, and they may have changed since. Check Naver Place for the current menu and prices. This list is not a menu board — it counts what bloggers actually ordered and ate. Check on Naver Place

Parking

17 posts say you can park; 1 say you cannot. We leave the disagreement standing rather than picking a side.

Posts saying you cannot1 of 22 posts

Being able to park outside is why people come here. Seventeen writers bring it up and most are describing their own car: "in Ingye-dong, a restaurant with a car park is power"; "free for as long as you're eating"; "if you've ever burned half your energy hunting a space around here you'll know what this is worth." One writer asked the owner directly and reports the forecourt, the metered street bay next door, and two hours validated at the arts-centre car park five minutes' walk away. How many cars fit is where the accounts diverge: one says ten, one says a few, one says it is wide — and one arrived to find it full and parked up the road. Two advise phoning ahead if your group is bringing several cars.

Getting inside

Second floor15 of 22 posts
Toilet inside3 of 22 posts
Separate restrooms2 of 22 posts

The two floors work almost as separate restaurants. The ground floor is a room of four- and six-tops; the first floor is given over entirely to company dinners. Fifteen writers mention the layout, but only seven actually went upstairs — others write "I didn't bother going up" or "couldn't see the first floor, but it looked like group seating." So about half of what we know about upstairs is hearsay. One writer reckons the ground floor is the more popular of the two; another, sent upstairs because the ground floor was fully booked, found it quieter, away from the cinema side of the building.

Nobody wrote about the doorway, a ramp, or the width of the aisles. This is a two-storey building and not one post says whether there is a lift — four describe walking up the stairs. Since all the private rooms are upstairs, that is not a small gap, and yet none of the twenty-two writers records how you get up there. The ground floor appears to open straight off the street, but whether there is a step at the door, nobody says. One detail does surface: a writer notes the ground-floor room is split by a level change, which made it look bigger. This is not a yes and not a no; we do not know.

The toilet is inside the building, halfway up the stairs to the right of the ground-floor entrance. Three writers place it, two of them noting separate men's and women's. One calls it clean, another clean and roomy, and one was glad of the hair ties left in there. How many stalls, and how many steps you climb to reach it, nobody says — and being halfway up a staircase means it is not on the level, which is as far as we can take it.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 25 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • We cut eight of the thirty, and the name is the reason. "Gogirang" also just means "with meat," so other restaurants' reviews come in attached to the phrase. Two of the five rejected posts are about a shabu-shabu buffet ("with meat and vegetables alone it can feel thin"), one about a different grill house (its title reads "…and the fried rice and the meat had clearly divided the work between them"), and two are listicles covering ten and five restaurants. On top of that we dropped three that are not visits: two are wholesale copies of the Naver listing from blogs run by the same operator — square brackets and all: "options: ['reservation', 'groups welcome', …]" — and one carries the subheading "a review so vivid it's as if I'd tasted it myself." Of the twenty-two we kept, four disclose sponsorship and two state they paid.
  • Nobody queued. Four writers describe a full room in the evening — "packed on a weekday," "we arrived right at dinner time and every table was taken," "the whole ground floor was booked for company dinners so we went upstairs" — and all four had either booked or come early. This reads less like a place you queue for than a place you reserve: every room door carries a name card, and parties of five or more are automatically assigned a room when they book through Naver. What happens if you turn up at dinner time without one, we do not know.
  • Sunday closes an hour earlier, and last orders come long before closing. Monday to Saturday the doors stay open until eleven at night, but the kitchen stops at twenty to ten (seven posts). Sunday closes at ten with last orders at twenty to nine (three posts). On weekdays there is a break from three until half past four; at weekends and on public holidays there is none. Five posts give only "daily 11:00–23:00" and miss the Sunday difference, and three others give last orders as 21:20, 21:30 and 22:30. If you are going late, phone and ask about last orders — there is well over an hour when the door is open and the kitchen is not. No regular closing day; the shop says it shuts only on the main holidays themselves.
  • Nobody has eaten lunch here. Eight posts call the weekday lunch good value — a king-rib set at ₩18,000, stir-fried pork at ₩8,000, rib soup at ₩12,000, soybean stew at ₩6,000 — and not one of the twenty-two ordered any of it. Even those who came at midday grilled meat. The prices themselves come from a post that copied the shop's Naver listing, so whether they still hold, we do not know. One writer remarks that you could come alone at lunch; she did not. If that is your plan, it is worth a phone call.
