howol

스시 호월 Seusi Howol Howol (皓月) means a bright, clear moon; the characters appear on the shop's sign next to the word howol.

Sushi Howol is a sushi omakase counter on the ground floor of the Pyeongchon Xi Ella building in Anyang, next to a GS25. Ten to twelve people sit at the counter for lunch (60,000 won) and dinner (now 140,000 won), each in two seatings. The course runs from chawanmushi and abalone with liver-sauce rice through the nigiri to fried fish, kaisendon, squid-tempura udon, futomaki and tamago. Dinner was 90,000 won in a November 2024 post, 120,000 won from March to August 2025, and 140,000 won from December 2025 on. We read 30 posts from November 2024 to October 2026; 28 of them describe actually eating here.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. This is a reservation place: 16 posts say they booked, through CatchTable, Naver, phone or text. Several mention a confirmation text on the day, when you can list what you don't eat. Two note that everyone at a seating starts together, so arriving early doesn't get you in sooner — doors open about five minutes before the start.
  2. Five posts say every seat is at the counter, and three describe watching the chefs cut and shape the sushi right in front of them. Four call the room small.
  3. Five posts mention a small wooden tray at each seat for your phone; some also note coat hooks behind the seats.
  4. Seven posts say it is a short walk from Pyeongchon Station (one estimates three minutes from Exit 2); one writer came by bus and walked.
3 more
  1. Eight posts call the staff kind; one did not, saying they got a look for ordering a Coke Zero. Many posts mention a candle stuck in the tamago if you tell them it's a special day.
  2. Eleven posts say the price is fair, almost all about the 60,000-won lunch; one dinner post called it the priciest omakase in Anyang yet worth it. Three say the portions are large, and many note you can ask for less rice.
  3. Four posts describe it as quiet and calm; one found it noisy because another guest chatted with the chef the whole time, and said they would not return.

Posts saying you can park7 of 26 posts

Seven posts describe parking in the Xi Ella building; the stated rule is three hours free, then 1,000 won per 30 minutes. Several warn that the garage entrance sits right beside the neighbouring building's (the one with Coffee Bean) and is easy to miss.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 5 (of 26 posts read)
Lift to the floor1 of 26 posts

Five posts say it is on the ground floor. The door faces outside rather than into the building, and one writer wandered the lobby before finding it from the street side.

No one says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in. One post mentions taking the building elevator up from the garage to the ground floor, but nothing about the shop entrance itself.

No one mentions where the restroom is or whether it is separated by gender. We don't know.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 27 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No one describes queuing; everyone came at a booked time, so we don't know what happens if you walk in.
  • Opening hours have shifted. Posts up to January 2025 say Tuesday–Sunday 12:00–21:30, break 15:00–18:00, closed Mondays. Five posts from November 2025 on say daily 12:00–22:00, break 15:00–17:00, open year-round except holidays. But three posts from August–September 2026 say Monday–Saturday, closed Sundays, and we can't tell whether that is a change or a copying error. All of these are copied listings, not observations.
  • Prices have gone up: dinner was 90,000 won (Nov 2024), 120,000 won (Mar–Aug 2025) and 140,000 won from December 2025. One August 2026 post still lists 120,000, which looks copied from an older notice. Corkage is 20,000 won a bottle in three posts and 30,000 in one. Lunch has stayed at 60,000 won.
  • Seven posts give the phone number 0507-1364-4131; one lists 010-3315-3474 for reservations. One writer notes the phone is hard to get through while the chefs are serving, which may be why most book on CatchTable.
  • One August 2025 post says the writer first came before the name changed, and an April 2025 post says the place merged with nearby Sushi Kaisen; neither gives the old name. A September 2025 post heard the chef was changing, which we treat as hearsay.
