계통령 Chicken President — chicken cuts grilled on hot quartz stones
Compiled from 23 blog posts read in fullSources →
Gyetongnyeong grills the odd cuts of chicken — neck, cartilage, the inner skirt — a few minutes' walk from exit 7 at Indeogwon, on the ground floor inside the eating lane. The name welds 계 (chicken) onto 대통령 (president); one writer reports that the owner wanted to be president when he was small. There is no charcoal. The chicken goes onto black quartz pebbles brought to the table already glowing, and the burner is split so that bean sprouts fry on a plate alongside. Salt-grilled and marinated chicken and the soy-marinated neck carry the menu, with cartilage, skirt and boneless feet sold separately. The set menus climb through political office: city councillor, provincial councillor, prime minister, and the president of the sign. The owner ran a well-known grill on Jeju and moved the business back to his home city in the autumn of 2024. Three in the afternoon until eleven at night. The posts we read run from October 2024 to September 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
These hours are counted from the posts we read. Shops change them without notice — check Naver Place before you go. Place — check hours
What sets it apart
- You do not grill your own meat here. The owner comes to the table, turns it, cuts it with scissors and leaves. Two posts give the same reason: the marinated chicken catches easily, and the stones are unforgiving. One writer says flatly that she would have burned the lot. It is not absolute, though — one post notes he does it "when it's quiet", and another, on a full night with no staff on, says the food came slowly. A post written weeks after the place opened in November 2024 carries a piece of advice: ask him not to cut it first. Cut small, the meat and skin stuck to the stone. No later post mentions sticking.
- A lot arrives without being ordered. Gizzard goes on first while the stone heats, near enough to standard; beyond that, writers report pork skin, a kimchi pancake, rice cake, pineapple, tortillas, instant noodles, soy-braised egg. Four say that ordering drink brings a hangover-cure sachet per head. This shapes how the posts read. Several praise the service before they praise the food. That is as far as we can count — and it is worth knowing that these are posts written by people who were given a great deal.
- The business moved here from Jeju. Seven posts tell the same story: the owner ran a grill called Tamna Maekdak on the island and came back to the city he grew up in, opening in the autumn of 2024. One customer who ate there most months for three years came by while on the mainland and noticed a change — there were no bean sprouts on Jeju. The sets were named after the island then, she adds; the political titles are new. Two posts mention the sandwich board outside announcing the Jeju arrival.
- This is a place you take the subway to. Nine posts walk from exit 7 at Indeogwon, though they disagree on how far: two say three minutes, two say five, three just say a short walk, and one measures it at 200 metres straight. Two give the same landmark — into the lane beside the Twosome Place. One warns that she went through the back lanes and the main road is easier. Three say the yellow sign is loud enough that finding it is no trouble.

- You can book through Naver, and booking gets you something. Three posts say you pick one of a soju, a beer, or the big steamed egg. One writer found half-hour slots across the whole opening span and raises an eyebrow at it — the last slot is eleven, which is closing time. One says a party of ten is possible; one booked a work dinner. Several others simply walked in and sat down.
- There is a help-yourself bar. Seven posts say the leaf wraps, pickled radish, perilla and onion pickle can be fetched as often as you want, and two say they did. Beyond that: one reports free refills of the bean sprouts, and two that the stew broth is topped up — both of them after adding instant noodles and watching it boil down.

Where it is

From the station
This is a place you take the subway to. Nine posts walk from exit 7 at Indeogwon, though they disagree on how far: two say three minutes, two say five, three just say a short walk, and one measures it at 200 metres straight. Getting inside
| Toilet inside | 4 of 23 posts |

No post discusses the floor. Nobody mentions stairs; nobody says the ground floor made it easy. The registered address reads "31 Indeogwon-ro, 1st floor" and the check-in widget prints the same. Whether there is a second floor or a basement, and which unit of the building this is, the posts cannot tell us. One writer notes that the unit was a grill house before and the interior is much as it was, only the tables changed to suit the burners — useful only to someone who knew the old place.
Nobody writes about getting in with a wheelchair or a pram. In twenty-four posts there is no step, no ramp, no threshold, no door width. That is not "you cannot" — it is "no one checked". What sits next to the question: the registered address is the ground floor, the shop is inside a lane, and three writers describe the tables as roomy with easy gaps between them. One counts about eleven tables of four; one notes cylindrical stools. One writer saw a customer arrive with a pram — which is not the same as watching that pram come through the door. And every table has a burner built into it.
The toilet is inside. Four writers looked and said so. One of them counts it: a single shared cubicle indoors, not separated by sex. Two call it clean; one says the toilet is the thing she quietly worries about in a grill house. Nobody writes about its size, or about a step at its door.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 26 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Nobody writes about waiting. In twenty-four posts there is no queue, no wait list, no turning back for want of a table. Busy, yes. One writer hit a full house with no staff on and found the food slow; another says the same on a crowded night; a third found the tables near full on both her visits. A fourth went early on purpose and watched the room fill after her. Waiting for a table and waiting for food are not the same thing, and we have not merged them.
- Not one post declares a sponsorship. Thirteen state outright that they paid; the other eleven say nothing about money. Two things are worth naming, though. · The July 2026 post is a Coupang affiliate post. It opens with the disclosure that the writer earns commission and closes with links to camping chicken products. The money comes from the products at the end, not from the shop, so we count the visit and note it here. · The August 2025 post was written by someone who knew the owner on Jeju. She raises the objection herself — that people will say it is a friend's shop, that it is an advert — and describes sitting with the owner and his mother until midnight, which is why there are so few photographs. She was also given a free portion of the skirt cut. She never says she did not pay, so we have not counted it as sponsored. Three posts we did not count as visits: a case study by the company that builds the table burners, a post that is nothing but Naver's own review-keyword tallies, and one built entirely of emoji rating rows. That last one names "chicken" as what was ordered and nothing else — and never mentions the steamed egg, the bean sprouts, or the owner grilling for you, which all twenty-four of the others do.
- There are prices we do not have. The singles have not moved in two years, but only two posts price a set, and they disagree: the city-councillor set is ₩39,900 in November 2024 and ₩39,000 in March 2026. Nine hundred won apart — a cut or a typo, we cannot tell, so we carry both. Of the other three sets only the biggest has a price on record, ₩89,000; neither the provincial-councillor nor the prime-minister set is priced anywhere in the twenty-four. The steamed egg and the Jeju sausage have no price either, because both come inside the sets and few order them alone. A scraped post prices the egg at ₩4,000 — but that post is not a visit, so we have not used it.
- We do not know the closing days. Fifteen posts give the hours and all fifteen agree on three until eleven, but only one says anything about days off: a September 2025 post that reads "every day — open all year — no break". The other fourteen are silent. One post we excluded from the count says the shop closes the fourth Sunday of every month (May 2026). We did not load it, because we did not count that post as a visit — but it is worth one person checking. If it is true, someone will walk to a locked door.
