Itaery Budae Jjigae's Gwacheon Jijeongta branch is a franchise army-stew house on the first basement level of the Smart K office complex in Gwacheon's knowledge-information district. Being inside an office building decides its customers and its reviews alike: almost every post is about lunch. It opens at eleven, shuts from three until five, and closes on Sundays. The menu climbs a thousand won at a time — stew, hotpot, then the ham-heavy hotpot — and one dish per head buys unlimited multigrain rice and instant noodle. A pat of butter comes to the table with instructions to stir it through the rice. Parking in the building is free. The posts we read run from July 2025 to September 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart
- Half of what is written about this place is about the refill counter. Seven writers name it as the reason to come: it stands in the middle of the room with multigrain rice, instant noodle, vegetable stock and the side dishes, taken as often as you like. One post gives the condition — one dish per person and then the rice and noodle are unlimited. Three uses recur: more noodle when the pan looks short (two writers), stock poured in when the broth turns salty (two), side dishes fetched when they run out (four). Not everyone uses it, mind — one writer never went back to the counter at all and was full on what arrived.
- There is a queue at lunch, and by ten to one the room is empty. Sitting in an office basement sets the timetable exactly. One writer who came at noon found every table full — and all of them cleared by 12:50. Another puts it the same way: heaving at lunch, easy once lunch is over. The two who came at 11:40 and at the tail end of the hour both walked straight in. For those who do wait, one post notes a sign-up sheet and chairs at the door, with the menu posted where you can read it while you stand. Two writers remark on how fast the tables turn.
- One person came away unimpressed, and one person ordered something different. Nine writers had the stew or the hotpot and five of them say they will be back. The tenth, dragged along by her team leaders on a late shift, had the dry stir-fried version at ₩16,000 a head and summed it up: the photo looks bad, and yes, it was — just fine, nothing more. That line is the only low mark this kitchen gets, and she is also the only writer who names a price. With one diner on that dish, we cannot tell the dish from the evening. What we can count is that of the nine who ordered it with broth, none wrote badly of it.
- They take money off if you carry it out — four writers mention it and one has the figures: ₩2,000 on a two-person order, ₩3,000 on three. The odd thing is that two writers independently arrive at the same idea: this is what you take camping. One would eat it there with grilled pork belly. Nobody, though, has actually done it — all four ate in and noticed the sign on the way past. Two also record a bottle of fabric spray set by the door, and both pass on the same advice: army stew gets into your clothes, so use it before you leave.

Parking
5 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Parking is free, because it is the office block's car park. Five writers mention it and none of them contradicts another: register at the till when you pay, and one puts the allowance at three hours. Here that is more than a convenience — one writer chose the place on a wet day precisely because he could drive down into the basement and never step outside. In from below, eat below, out again, dry throughout. Not one post complains about finding a space — a tower car park is a different proposition from the four or five kerbside places most restaurants fight over.

It is not easy to find: one floor down, and then further in. The two writers who give directions both say the same thing — go deeper. One: hard to spot, being in the basement, but find the steps down and keep walking inward. The other: A tower, first basement, a little way in — face the gimbap shop and carry straight on. A third, though, found it easy enough from the arcade, so the posts disagree. The restaurant runs across two units, 116 and 117, and once you are inside five writers call it roomy. Nobody found it cramped.
One person saw a pushchair come in, and that is everything we have. A writer here for a weekend family lunch noticed one arriving and took it as a sign that families come often. If a pushchair got in, the door cannot be impossible — but not one post mentions a step, a ramp or a lift. This is one floor below ground, and the only person who described the way in described stairs: find the steps down, go down, head inside. Nobody looked for another route — an office building probably has a lift, but that is our assumption, not an observation. If you are coming in a wheelchair, ring and ask.
Not one post mentions the toilet. We searched all ten by machine and checked by hand; the word never appears. In a basement arcade inside an office building, we cannot even say whether it is inside the restaurant or shared with the floor — shared is the common arrangement, but that is our guess and not anybody's account. This is not "there isn't one": it is that nobody wrote it down.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know
- Thirty posts came back matched, and only ten of them were about this restaurant. A basement unit inside a large office complex means the neighbours' reviews arrive under the same address — a sushi bar, a sundae-gukbap house, a pork grill, a burger shop, a hangover-soup place and a beef restaurant all sit at the same street number. One of them needed real care: another army-stew house, also at number 20, in a different tower of the same development. Its set side dishes are listed exactly as ours — bean sprouts, kimchi, stir-fried fish cake — and its noodle refill too. Counted by address, its numbers would have become ours. So the figures on this page rest on ten posts, not thirty.
- Not one writer describes getting here without a car. Across ten posts there is no station name, no bus stop, no count of minutes on foot — one title carries a station as a search term and the body never mentions it. The driving, by contrast, is specific: one writer picked this place precisely because he could stay dry, taking the car down into the building's own underground park. For a lunch spot in an office basement, most customers must simply walk down — and nobody has written that down. So we cannot tell you how to reach it on public transport.
- The opening hours do not agree. Three posts (October and November 2025, March 2026) close at 20:30 on weekdays; one (July 2025) says 21:00. Last orders split between 20:00 and 20:30 as well. Saturday is the real problem: a March 2026 post separates it out — weekdays 11:00–20:30, Saturday 11:00–15:00 — while an October 2025 post folds Saturday in with the rest at 11:00–20:30. If you are thinking of a Saturday evening, ring first. Only one thing is unanimous: it shuts between three and five in the afternoon. Two posts note the Sunday closing. A fifth post gave hours but flagged them as its own guess, so we did not count it.
