Deokgogae 2-hojeom

덕고개 2호점 Deokgogae is a place name — gogae means a hill pass — and 2-hojeom means 'second branch': this is the second shop of the Deokgogae butcher-restaurant, whose main shop is on Buheung-ro in Yangju.

Compiled from 17 blog posts read in fullSources →

Deokgogae 2 is a butcher-style charcoal barbecue restaurant that opened in spring 2025 on Hoecheonnam-ro in Deokgye-dong, Yangju, beside an apartment complex south of Deokgye Station. You pick packs of Korean pork or beef from the meat fridge at the entrance and pay first, or order from the menu, then grill over charcoal at the table. A menu copied in October 2025 lists premium pork belly at 14,000 won, premium neck at 17,000 won and a 900 g platter at 74,000 won; at lunch there is a grilled-pork ssambap set for 15,000 won. Posts from April 2025 through October 2026 all describe the same table ritual: grinding sesame in a small mortar over the scallion salad. We read 30 posts dated 19 April 2025 to 7 October 2026; we set aside 8 that were about the main branch on Buheung-ro or about Deokgogae the hill pass. Of the remaining 22, 20 describe an actual meal.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Extra side dishes come from a self-serve bar — ten posts say so. Two posts (September 2025, July 2026) add that kimchi, pickles, salad and scallion salad aren't on the bar and you ask staff for them; one of them got kimchi refilled twice.
  2. There are private rooms. Six posts mention them; an August 2026 post says one room takes 8 to 24 people. In October 2026 a party of six adults and two babies booked by phone and found the room already set for their numbers, baby chairs included.
  3. Five posts mention a receipt-review offer, and four of them say it gets you both steamed egg and a drink (April 2025 – January 2026); two note that most places give only one.
  4. Three posts describe free drinks by the entrance: buckwheat tea, green tea, plum tea and a pomegranate drink plus vending-machine coffee in April 2025, much the same in August 2026. Ice cream costs 500 won.
2 more
  1. Five posts say the meat had no off-smell — one of belly, neck and shoulder-top alike (August 2026), another that it was tender enough to feed a toddler (July 2025).
  2. Five posts brought children; two of them got a high chair or watched staff set one up, and one was brought child-sized tableware.

Parking

Posts saying you can park7 of 17 posts

Parking is behind the building. Seven posts parked there or saw the lot and called it ample. You drive up a slope through the middle of the building to a dedicated lot, and the entrance is on that side too — one post admits standing on the street wondering where the door was.

Getting inside

No post describes which floor it is on from experience; there is only the '1st floor' in the address, and nobody mentions stairs or a basement. That means nobody said, not that there are none.

No post says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller got in. Two posts say the entrance is at the back by the car park, not on the street, and the shop's own directions say to come up the slope through the building.

No post clearly says the toilet is inside. An October 2025 post places it just left of the entrance door, and two posts found it clean (July 2025, with hair ties and floss; October 2026). Separate men's and women's toilets appear only in copied listing text.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 19 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Eight posts came with family and five as a couple; only one came with friends (another family from the same apartment block).
  • One post waited: around 7 pm in July 2025 there were three groups ahead and it took about ten minutes. Others call the place busy without saying they queued. Whether there is a waiting area is unclear — one post only guessed at one.
  • Getting there without a car is split: a September 2025 family came by bus and walked in, while an April 2025 post said it's a short drive from Deokgye Station and not well placed. The '613 m from exit 2' and 'about ten minutes on foot' figures are copied from the listing.
  • Ten posts give opening hours of 11:00–22:00, six a last order at 21:30, and eleven say it closes on the first Tuesday of each month. One October 2026 post says it opens at 11:30 and one August 2026 post says it closes at 20:00. Most of this is copied from the listing. One post says the lunch set is only served 11:00–15:00.
  • Prices vary by date and by how you order. Premium pork belly was 14,000 won (180 g) on the October 2025 menu and 9,900 won as an April 2025 opening offer. Fridge packs were 6,200 won per 100 g for belly and neck in July 2026 and 4,900 won per 100 g for premium fresh belly in August 2026, and one post says the fridge is a little cheaper than the menu. Two posts call it good value; one found the beef too expensive. No post mentions a table-setting charge at this branch.
  • Portions are split: two posts found them generous (pork belly in April 2025, cold noodles in July 2025) and one found them small — in January 2026 the meat looked meagre on the grill and they ordered two more servings.
  • A July 2026 post says ordering 'changed' so that pork belly, too, is picked in packs from the butcher counter — and that the wall menu still showed the old prices that day. A February 2026 post said pork was ordered from staff, and a January 2026 post found the counter mostly beef. Posts from July 2025 and January 2026 also mention picking pork, so what changed seems to be belly and neck appearing in priced-per-100 g packs.
  • Local currency is unclear: a January 2026 post was told the Yangju Love card isn't accepted, while a September 2025 post noted that the government relief voucher was.
  • Eight posts copy the phone number 031-867-9997; only the Yangju City Council feature gives 031-861-6001. One post booked ahead by phone.
  • Some posts were not counted: the Yangju City Council feature (October 2026) shows a meal but is promotional, so we didn't tally it; a summary-style post (June 2025) and a 'top 10 meat restaurants' list (April 2026) weren't counted as visits. Claims like in-house ageing or the ice-cream money going to charity are the shop's own words, passed on.
