Bulnan Makchang Deokgye-jeom

불난막창 덕계점 Bulnan means 'caught fire' and makchang is grilled intestine — fire-grilled tripe; Deokgye-jeom marks this as the Deokgye branch of the chain.

Compiled from 11 blog posts read in fullSources →

A branch of a makchang and gopchang chain in a small shopping strip between apartment blocks near Deokgye Station. People come for grilled pork makchang (15,000 won a portion), stir-fried vegetable gopchang (13,000 won) and pork-intestine hot pot; fish-cake soup and side dishes come free, and refills are self-serve from a bar in the middle of the room. We read 19 posts dated October 2024 to July 2026; 11 of them, from October 2024 to December 2025, describe a visit here. We set aside five that were about the Pyeongtaek branches or another restaurant in the same building, and did not count three that were delivery reviews or copied listings. One March 2025 post says the owner has changed.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Eight of the 11 visit posts mention the self bar: lettuce and perilla leaves, sauces and side dishes are free to top up, and two posts note disposable aprons beside it. The first round of sides arrives on a cafeteria-style tray.
  2. Seven visit posts say the portions are large. Two people ordered for three; a couple who added glass noodles to two portions of vegetable gopchang left food behind; a pair sharing the small hot pot wrote that a medium would have been too much.
  3. Five posts call the food spicy and two were noncommittal. Even the spicy reports put it at a level that people who avoid heat could handle, and one parent says a seven-year-old found it only slightly hot.
  4. Five posts went with family, three of them with children, who were usually given the roe rice ball and steamed egg. One post went with friends and one with a group of four adults.
2 more
  1. One post notes that single portions are accepted here. Several posts add that the free steamed egg only comes when you order two portions of the same dish — one family switched from one sauced and one salted portion to two sauced for that reason.
  2. The grilled dishes are cooked in the kitchen. One post that had beef gopchang says it takes a little longer but nothing spatters at the table; another says the makchang arrives pre-grilled, and a third had two portions of makchang within five to ten minutes.

Posts saying you can park6 of 11 posts

Six posts parked or say parking is possible, always in the spaces in front of the shop or on the street. One says it fits about one or two cars, one recommends walking because space is limited, and one found the last free spot on a Saturday evening.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

2 posts say it is walkable from the station.

Getting inside

No post describes the floor or any stairs; only the address says ground floor. That is unconfirmed rather than known.

We don't know about the entrance step or wheelchair and stroller access; three posts went with children but none mentions a stroller.

We don't know where the toilet is. Separate men's and women's toilets appear only in copied listing options, not in anyone's own account.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 14 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • One March 2025 post, by a longtime takeout regular, says the owner has changed and the food is if anything better. That post and an April 2025 post say a self-serve ramen machine is new; the November 2024 posts mention only the self bar.
  • The posted hours don't fully agree. All give 15:30 to midnight on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, but Friday to Sunday opening is 15:30 in two posts (Nov 2024, Oct 2025) and 15:00 in two others (Mar and Apr 2025). Four posts say it closes on Tuesdays, one says Mondays. Most of this is copied listing data, so check before you go.
  • The price of the small pork hot pot varies: in November 2024 one post lists 25,000 won and another paid 30,000 won, and an October 2025 post gives 25,000 won again. We could not tell whether this is a price change or a sizing mix-up.
  • Two posts say the shop is five to ten minutes from Deokgye Station exit 1, but neither describes walking it; one local resident walked from home.
  • No post reports waiting for a table. One found it full at dinnertime and another says weekends are usually packed but it was quiet in the rain. That means nobody wrote about a queue, not that there is none.
  • Only one post went with friends and one with a group of four adults; several say it would suit a group dinner, but that is the only group account. Nobody went alone.
  • Seven posts give the same phone number, 031-865-9792. Reservations appear only in copied listing options; nobody wrote about booking.
