Golmok-anchae

골목안채 A two-dish house that moved out from Guri: octopus stir-fried in cooked-down onion, and clam noodles whose noodles you lift into the sauce.

Korean · Namyangju-si, Dasan-dong

Data as of · Published ·

Golmok-anchae is a stir-fried octopus house on the ground floor of a residential block behind Dasan's Jeong Yak-yong Library. It sells two things: nakji-bokkeum — octopus in a thick chilli sauce, ₩25,900 / ₩30,900 / ₩36,900 by size — and clam kalguksu at ₩10,900. It used to stand in a lane in Guri, and moved out to Dasan a few years ago; seventeen of the twenty-seven posts we read open with that fact. Three mention a television appearance, and seven the wall of signed photographs. Open Tuesday to Sunday, closed Mondays, with a break from 15:30 to 17:00. The posts we read run from May to September 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

These hours are counted from the posts we read. Shops change them without notice — check Naver Place before you go. Place — check hours

What sets it apart

  1. Ask anyone here what makes the octopus different and they all arrive at the same place: the onion is cooked down until it disappears, and that is the sweetness in the sauce. Four writers call it caramelised, four describe the onion as melted; what follows is that this is not the chilli-paste heat you expect from the dish — one likens it to a black-bean sauce. It clings rather than pools, which is why everything ends up stirred through it. It is still hot, though. Of the twenty-two posts that address the heat, twenty-one say hot, and two who ordered it mild found it beat instant ramyeon anyway.
  2. This place moved out from Guri, and that single fact explains who is in the room. Seventeen of the twenty-seven posts mention the move, and many of those writers were customers before it happened — two of ten years' standing, one of fifteen, one on her twentieth-odd visit, one since her twenties. Twelve posts are return visits. Three writers ask themselves whether the food survived the move and all three say it did. Three are pleased the room is cleaner now; one almost walked past it because it looked too smart.

Parking

20 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park20 of 27 posts

Twenty posts write about parking and they all say the same thing: there are spaces in front, and there are not many of them. Seventeen put a number on it, and the numbers do not agree — two or three (three writers), three or four (two), four or five (three), five or six (two), six (one), and six more who just say it is tight. From the posts we cannot tell which is right. Eight say you will not get in at peak times; three send you to a nearby public lot or the surrounding lanes; two saw cars double-parked; one spent thirty minutes between finding a space and getting a table. Two say it is free.

Getting inside

Toilet insideyes 0 · no 2 (of 27 posts read)

The register puts it on the ground floor, and writers describe it that way — a shop unit under a residential block. But not one of them says whether there is a step up to the door, or whether it is level with the street. Nobody says there is an upstairs or a basement, and nobody says there isn't.

Not one post mentions a step at the door. Wheelchair, ramp, threshold — none of those words appears across twenty-seven posts. A pushchair comes up exactly once, when a father says it might be awkward to bring one in — but he means the room was busy, not that there is a step. Whether you can get in without one, we do not know. Given that the toilet is outside the restaurant as well, it is worth calling 031-569-2665 first if it matters.

The toilet is outside the restaurant and you take a key with you. Only two of the twenty-seven posts say so — one tells you to pick up the key and captions her photo "toilet (outside)"; another lists the key beside the waiting chairs and the coat rack at the door. Where in the building it is, whether it is shared between men and women, how far you walk — nobody writes it down.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 28 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Nobody writes about getting here without a car. Across twenty-seven posts there is no station name and no bus number; when people place it, they place it by the public library or by the residential block it sits under. One writer puts it plainly in her summary: hard to reach without a car. Which station is nearest, and how far it is on foot, we cannot say.
  • This used to be a place you queued for, and more writers now say you don't. Two describe waiting — one briefly, with tables turning fast; one for thirty minutes on a public holiday evening, counting the hunt for a parking space. Eleven say they walked straight in, including on a Saturday lunchtime and a Sunday at six. Two long-standing regulars name the change themselves: one says it is simply not as busy as it was, the other that the television queues have eased and she is half relieved, half sorry about it. Four note the chairs inside the door for anyone who does have to wait.
  • Sixteen posts give the hours and they very nearly all agree — fourteen say 11:00 to 20:50, one says 20:30. Fourteen record a break from 15:30 to 17:00 with not a single dissenting figure, which makes it the best-confirmed fact about this place. All twelve who note last orders put them at 20:20. Fifteen say it closes on Mondays. Five write the week as Tuesday-to-Sunday, which our hours field has no slot for, so the times are stored without a day label and the Monday closure separately.
  • Twenty-nine posts, twenty-nine people — no blogger wrote twice. Not one declares a sponsorship, and nine state they paid their own way. Two posts are excluded from the count: a "ten best old-school restaurants" roundup that gets our street number wrong and closes by admitting its restaurant photographs are AI-generated, and a post about a takeaway a sister brought home, whose author says she has not been herself. Not everything is praise: one writer's companion could not see what the trip was for, and another found it fell short of his memory and is unsure about returning, between the parking and the wait.
