Kkotso

꽃소 The name puts together kkot, flower, and so, beef.

Korean · Hwaseong-si Dongtan-gu, Bansong-dong

Data as of · Published ·

Kkotso is a charcoal-grill beef house on the ground floor of a building on the south square in Dongtan, Hwaseong. A brazier of white charcoal sits at one side of the table, and instead of choosing cuts you order the assortment — whatever came in well that day, a few kinds on one plate (₩47,000 for 150g a head). Rooms and partitioned booths make it a company-dinner and family place. Two in the afternoon until eleven at night. The posts we read run from November 2025 to September 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. A member of staff stands at the table, grills the meat, and names each cut as it goes on. Sixteen posts address this and fifteen confirm it. Six single out the explanation — you would otherwise eat an assortment without knowing what you were eating. There is even a running order: brisket point first, thick brisket last, as four of them describe. Two note that finished pieces are moved to the cool edge of the grill and the staff then leave you alone until the next round. It does not always happen. One writer, there on a Friday evening, was told they grill for you when it is not busy — it was busy, and she grilled her own. Another reports the owner searing a single piece and withdrawing, and counts that a virtue: if being waited on over a grill makes you uncomfortable, this is the version you want.
  2. Seventeen posts mention the private rooms — the single most consistent thing written about this place. There is a large room and a four-seat room, plus semi-rooms you can close off with a hanging blind, and booths with partitions. One counts three rooms; one says you can state your preference when booking; two were put in a semi-room because they had booked. Which is why it works as a company-dinner room — two writers found the rooms already full of office parties, or a party going in the room next door. Two were glad of somewhere to hang a coat. It is not a big restaurant. Of the seventeen who describe the space, four call it small or 'not especially large', and only one calls it roomy. The sense of space comes from the partitions, not the floor area.

Parking

17 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park17 of 18 posts

This is a place people drive to. Eleven of eighteen say so outright, and seventeen say where they actually parked — not a copied 'parking available' line. There are two options: the building's own basement garage and the public car park on the square, directly in front. The public one gets used more, and the writing shows it — a stone's throw, a space opening up right at the door. Do not trust the free-parking figure. Eight posts say ninety minutes free; one says an hour and a half, which is the same thing; but one writer asked the owner and was told one hour, for both the basement and the square. Another adds that you still have to settle at the machine on the way out, free time or not. Against all that: not one of the eighteen mentions arriving by public transport.

Map showing where Kkotso is

Naver Map has a full English mode — Settings → Language → English. In Korea it gives better walking and transit directions than Google Maps.

Getting inside

Second floor1 of 18 posts
Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1

Not one of the thirty posts mentions a step, a ramp, a wheelchair, a pushchair or a lift. Some do say it is at street level — one photographed the brick sign 'here on the ground floor', and the address agrees. But one post says the restaurant 'is on the small side, and there's an upstairs too', and we could not settle whether there is seating above. Whether the route up from the basement garage involves stairs or a threshold, nobody looked. The same goes for the toilets. Three posts state they are separated by sex, but all three are copying a facilities list. One writer put it in her own words, and what she wrote was 'separate men's and women's (building)' — which we read as meaning you use the building's shared toilets rather than one inside the restaurant.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 12 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Twelve of the thirty posts have been taken out of the count, leaving eighteen posts by eighteen people. Please read why — it is the most important thing on this page. Between 5 and 19 September 2026, eleven posts appeared in fifteen days. The one before them was dated 21 June, leaving a gap of two and a half months, and before that this restaurant attracted one or two posts a month. Three of the eleven end by declaring that the writer was paid a fee by the business. The reason for removing the other eight is that the things that define this restaurant appear in none of the eleven. Set against the nineteen non-September posts: the free plate of raw beef that comes to every table — nineteen out of nineteen, versus zero out of eleven. The seasoned raw crab, fifteen versus zero. The charcoal brazier, fourteen versus zero. The gingko, garlic and peppers grilled alongside, fifteen versus zero. The public car park on the square, fourteen versus zero. The house assortment itself, fourteen versus zero. Nobody sits down here and fails to notice the free raw beef. Eleven consecutive posts that never mention it were written by people who did not sit down. On top of which, not one of the eleven contains a price — the others give ₩47,000, ₩39,000, ₩30,000, ₩8,000, ₩7,000 — the closing hashtag block is identical across them, and three share one storyline. Two of the eleven do name cuts, and both were still removed: one gives no price and omits all six markers above, and the other claims to have ordered a cut this restaurant does not serve. The twelfth is an April post that transcribes the restaurant's Naver listing under headings — About / Visitor Ratings / Top Keywords / Recent Reviews in Detail. The three reviews quoted in it were written by other people, and it closes with a paragraph of national economic news. Had they stayed, every 'N out of thirty' on this page would have been diluted by almost half.
  • Sunday opening changed in the spring of 2026, and the posts split cleanly on the date. The eight written between November 2025 and 18 March 2026 all say the same: Monday to Saturday 14:00–23:00, Sundays from 16:00. The six written between 11 April and 19 June 2026 all say something else: 14:00–23:00, closed every Sunday. The change appears to fall between those two dates, but what we read are posts, not the restaurant. One December 2025 post stands alone in saying Tuesday to Saturday, matching neither. If you are planning a Sunday, ring first — 031-613-9898. One post states there is no afternoon break.
  • Not one of the eighteen says they came by bus or train. No route number, no walk from a stop. The word "walk" turns up twice: once for the few steps from the public car park, and once about hanging a coat on the wall. Every set of directions is anchored to something you can see — right in front of the public car park on the south square, next door to the dakdoritang place, the old tuna restaurant's unit, the brick sign. Eleven writers came by car and seventeen say where they parked: the people who write about this restaurant are people who drive to it. If you are coming without a car, this page cannot help you. The coordinates on the map are right; route yourself from those.
  • Nobody reports queueing. Five do report a full house: a Friday evening busy enough that the staff could not grill for them; rooms already taken by office parties; a party in the room next door; the place filling up as evening came on; arriving late to find one sitting had just cleared. None of them waited — but all five had either booked or come early. Five posts mention booking, two of them 'just in case'. What happens if you turn up at dinner time without a reservation, nobody wrote down.
  • Only six of the eighteen give any price at all. So the figures on this page stop at the house assortment (₩47,000 for 150g), the thick brisket (₩39,000 for 200g), the raw beef (₩30,000 for 180g) and a few rice and noodle dishes. The individual cuts — chuck flap, hanging tender, brisket point — have no price here: people ordered them and nobody wrote down what they cost. The posts we removed carried more prices, and we did not use them. The one transcribing the Naver listing gives ₩56,000 for chuck flap, ₩67,000 for hanging tender, ₩9,000 for the spicy beef soup — none of it written by anyone who ordered it, so none of it is here. Three writers call the place expensive: one puts it at ₩40,000–60,000 a head, one warns against it for a tightly budgeted office dinner, and one says it costs what it costs and is worth it.
