Gyeongju Sillabansang Surimoe

경주신라반상 수리뫼 Silla bansang means a table laid in the manner of the old Silla kingdom; moe is an old Korean word for mountain — the posts do not explain the name Surimoe itself.

Compiled from 19 blog posts read in fullSources →

A hanok restaurant on Poseok-ro in Naenam-myeon, at the foot of Namsan in Gyeongju, serving one set: red snow crab soft tofu stew at 15,000 won a head. The stew is made with crab paste rather than doenjang, and comes with rice, about ten namul side dishes, japchae and crab meat in the shell; most tables add soy-braised short ribs (10,000 won a serving, two minimum). A small dessert tray of candied carrot, turmeric sikhye and rice cake follows. We read 30 posts dated 20 July to 27 October 2026; 19 describe an actual meal. Nine were written by the owner on the restaurant's own blog and are not counted.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Waiting is what posts talk about most. Ten describe a queue: arriving 10:40 and getting in at 13:12, two hours, registering at 12:10 and sitting down at 15:30, an 80-minute app estimate, 30 minutes in the waiting room, 10 to 20 minutes as seventh in line. One saw '39 teams, 180+ minutes' on the app around 11:00. One post went on a weekday before 11:30 and walked straight in. Two say the on-site tablet opens at 10:30 and the CatchTable app at 11:00; one reckoned only about ten parties are seated per turn. One post says there are no reservations, and three used the app's 'push back my turn' option to time their arrival.
  2. Twelve posts mention a separate waiting building with chairs and a menu; three say it was air-conditioned and one found a fan running in July. The restaurant is out of town, though: one couple spent two hours in their car because there was nowhere else to go, and another waited at a café nearby.
  3. Nine posts say the seasoning is light — 'bland', 'mild', 'not overdone' — and several warn that anyone used to punchy food may find it flat. One post singled out the pickled laver as very salty. Three say the pickled melon side dish divides people.
  4. Four posts say the short-rib portion is small — five pieces for two servings, two or three pieces each. On value, two posts found it pricey and three found it easy on the wallet. One post says the first bowl of rice was about half full and the extra they asked for was charged.

  1. Five posts came with children. Two found high chairs, and two note it is table seating with shoes on, not floor seating. One family's six-year-old was given dessert without ordering a set; another post says school-age children must order their own set. Three posts describe the dining room as quiet.

Parking

6 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park6 of 19 posts

Six posts parked in the restaurant's own lot, a one- to two-minute walk (about 100 m) from the hanok. Opinions on its size differ: one called it roomy, one said the large lot was full by lunchtime, one said it is not big. The owner's figure of 20 to 30 cars is the shop's own claim and not counted.

Where it is

Map showing where Gyeongju Sillabansang Surimoe is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

No post says anything about floors or levels. One describes walking up a path from the parking lot to the main hanok, but we do not know whether there are steps.

Nobody wrote about a threshold or about getting in with a wheelchair or stroller — this means unknown, not absent. Posts describe a dirt path uphill from the lot, so wheelchair users should call ahead.

Two posts mention using the toilet, but none says whether it is inside the main building or separate, or whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 11 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-10-272 posts in one day
2026-10-265 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No post arrived by bus or train. Nine came by car; one says it is 10 to 15 minutes' drive from Hwangridan-gil, and one post's info box recommends driving over public transport. We do not know how practical public transport is.
  • Ten posts list opening hours; eight agree on 11:00-18:00, closed Mondays, but nearly all copy an info box. One July post gives an 11:30 opening. Seven list last orders at 17:00. The owner points to the Naver Place listing for current notices.
  • Five posts give the phone number 0507-1487-2508; one Chuseok post lists 054-748-2507 and says booking is required. Every other post, and the owner, say there are no table reservations and you queue through CatchTable — that one post is the outlier.
  • Prices are the same in every post from July to October 2026: 15,000 won for the set, 10,000 won per serving of short ribs. One August post mentions a separate 25,000-won weekday set, but later posts say the menu is down to the crab tofu set alone. Two sets plus two servings of ribs come to 50,000 won.
  • Three posts thought the stew tasted doenjang-based, while the owner and other posts say it contains no doenjang, only crab paste. One post passes on hearsay that the food differs when the owner is not in the kitchen; we did not count it.
