Sokcho Saengdaegu is a fresh-cod specialist on a side street near Dongmyeong Port in Yeongnang-dong, Sokcho. The menu is essentially two dishes: a clear cod stew without chili (26,000 won a portion) and egg-battered cod fillets (34,000 won); eight posts note the stew comes in a two-portion minimum. The pot arrives piled with water dropwort and simmers at the table, and post after post mentions wrapping the side dish of salted herring roe in laver with rice. It opens at 8:30 on weekends, and many diners came for a hangover breakfast. We read 30 posts dated June to October 2026; 23 describe a visit. - Expect to wait. Seven posts say they queued; four walked straight in. Recorded waits: about 40 minutes behind 14 groups at an August lunch, about an hour behind 17 groups around 1 p.m., and 20-30 minutes on a holiday morning; one post found three groups ahead at 9 a.m. on a weekend. The four who got in at once came early, on a weekday morning, on a weekday evening, or got lucky at lunch. There is a dedicated lot next to the restaurant. Eight posts say they parked there, sized at five to seven or seven to eight cars. Some call it roomy, but one describes cars packed bumper to bumper with an attendant directing, and another found it full, with diners spilling into a neighboring villa's lot, and suggests the street parking outside instead.

Seating is on two floors. Four posts mention the second floor; one was sent upstairs at 10:50 on a Saturday because the ground floor was full and found only four-person tables there. One post says there are restrooms on both floors.
No one wrote about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller, nor whether the second floor is reached by stairs or a lift. That does not mean there is a problem — only that nobody recorded it.

What we do not know
- Prices have risen. One diner who ate in July 2025 paid 23,000 won a portion; every post from a visit in August 2026 or later says 26,000 won. That 2025 diner is the only one who did not find it expensive. One introduction post lists 20,000 and 30,000 won, but shows no sign of a visit, so we did not rely on it.
- Fourteen visit posts give opening hours; all but one copied them from the listing, while one transcribed the sign on the door. They mostly agree: weekdays except Tuesday 10:00-20:00, weekends 08:30-20:00, break 14:30-17:00, last order 19:00, closed Tuesdays. One post gives the break as 15:00-17:00 and one has weekends opening at 8:00. The door sign adds a 14:30 lunch last order, and that diner found it open early on a weekday during the holiday.
- The cod fritters can sell out. One post says orders closed around 12:30 on an August day; another heard staff tell later arrivals on an October morning that the fritters would take a long time.
- Two posts went with children. The one with a 25-month-old found no high chair, though staff brought child-size utensils, and was told the clear-looking broth has chili heat, so the child got only fish picked out of the pot.
- No post describes getting there by bus or train; diners either drove or walked from nearby lodging.
- Many posts give the same phone number, 033-636-9774. None mentions booking a table; everyone joined the waiting list at the door.
