Ugly Patty is a burger shop on the second floor of a building right in front of Bongpo beach in Goseong, above a Kingkong Budae-jjigae. There is no sign on the steel door, only a photograph of a burger, and first-timers walk past it. One person cooks and serves. The burgers are American-style: a potato bun made with Gangwon potatoes, an all-beef patty, American cheese — and no salad vegetables unless you pay ₩1,000 for romaine and tomato. Three standard burgers (classic cheese, fried onion in the Oklahoma style, house bacon), each available doubled, plus a burger sold only in the month it belongs to. You order and pay at a tablet on your table and fetch cutlery, water, ketchup and pickles from a self-service bar. The posts we read run from December 2025 to September 2026.

What sets it apart

Nearly everyone who writes about this place starts with the window. One wall is glass and behind it is the Bongpo sand and breakwater; post after post describes seeing the sea the moment the door opens. But the seats that face it are a fixed few — four tables of four along the glass and one larger table beside them. One writer who arrived last shared a six-top with another party, partitioned by an acrylic screen the owner set up, and adds that even there the view was not blocked. On a bright day one writer ate in sunglasses because the sea was too dazzling; another went in the rain and says she missed the whole point of the room.
The room is small. Several writers counted, and they all land in the same range: four tables of four plus one bigger one, or five to six tables in total. The consequence is that a short queue is not a short wait — one writer had only a few parties ahead of her and still waited an hour and a half, and blames people who had finished eating and stayed in their seats.
How you queue differs from post to post. Some sign in on a machine inside the shop, some put their name in through the Tabling app, one saw a CatchTable terminal in the room. One writer says CatchTable bookings open at ten in the morning; another says booking ahead got her a table assigned at the window. Two writers found people already waiting before the eleven o'clock opening — one arrived half an hour early and was second. Against that, one walked in on a weekday and took whichever seat she liked, and another arrived at 18:14 on a Friday to no wait at all.
You can carry it out to the beach. Four writers ate on the sand or on a rented platform right outside. One used the shop's picnic set: the food comes with a basket and a mat lent at no charge, reserved through Naver takeout for a time between eleven and two, three parties a day, three hours maximum. The loan stops at the mat, she notes — bring your own chairs and table if you want them. Another writer took her food out because the shop does not seat people in wet swimwear, which is worth knowing at a beach.
The kitchen is open to the room and one person works it. Three writers watched their burger being made after they ordered; one notes the owner cooks and serves on his own. Because the day's ingredients are made in a fixed quantity, the shop closes early when they run out — six writers say so. Two give the summer number as 150 burgers a day, one splits it into a hundred at lunch and fifty in the evening, and one records a limit of four sets per person on takeaway. In practice: one writer arrived at 12:40 to find it already finished, one got in at half past five and watched it sell out behind her, and one found a single patty left and ordered one burger.
Write a receipt or photo review and a side comes out. Several writers saw the offer posted in the room; cheese sticks are the usual prize, with chicken tenders and a salad also recorded. Those who got one disagree about it — one tastes the freezer aisle, another says nothing arrived cold and it had clearly just been fried.
It is up a flight of stairs. Six writers navigate by the Kingkong Budae-jjigae on the ground floor. One says the opening hours are posted on the stairwell; two say there is no shop sign at all, just a photograph of a burger on a steel door. Two of them describe the building as one you would not guess held a restaurant.

There is no parking at the building. Three writers say so, and point instead to the Bongpo harbour lot (the fish-market lot) one or two minutes' walk away, free. Five writers parked there themselves; two could see it from the window and call it roomy. Note that it is also the beach's car park — no post describes what it is like at the height of summer.

What we do not know

Not one post mentions a toilet. Across twenty-seven posts nobody says whether there is one inside, whether it is shared with the building, or whether it is divided by sex. That is not a statement that there isn't one — it is a statement that nobody wrote it down.
We know almost nothing about getting in. Exactly one post touches the stairs: a mother who came with a pushchair found no lift and carried both the baby and the chair up. The same post reports a high chair inside. No post mentions a wheelchair, a ramp, a doorstep, or how many steps there are. Beyond "second floor, stairs", nothing is established.
Two different timetables are on record. Twelve posts give a 19:30 close, four give 18:00 — and all four of the 18:00 posts were written in August 2026, with a different break as well (14:30–17:00 in the first group, 15:00–16:00 in the second). It reads like a separate summer schedule, but no post says the shop said so. Eleven posts give Thursday as the closing day, yet two August posts record "open every day from 17 July to 23 August" and "Thursdays lunch only". Check before you go — one writer found the board outside the shop and the listing on Naver disagreed about the closing day.
We do not have the prices after the rise. A writer who visited on 15 July 2026 was told they would go up on the 17th, and no post since gives a price. Everything we hold is from before: ₩12,500 for a single-patty set, ₩13,500 with bacon, ₩16,500 for a double, ₩8,500 for the burger alone, ₩1,000 to add vegetables. One January 2026 post prices the set at ₩12,900 instead.
No post declares a sponsorship. We read the bodies and the hashtag blocks at the end; nine say outright that they paid. But six received a free side for writing a review, which is not quite the same as paying for everything. One multi-stop travel post carries #협찬 tags — they belong to a guesthouse and a beef restaurant in the same post, not to Ugly Patty.
Not one post explains how to get here without a car. Across twenty-seven posts there is no bus, no taxi, no terminal — everyone either drove and parked, or walked three to ten minutes from a hotel or guesthouse around Bongpo beach. How you would reach it on public transport is something we do not know. What is established is only that you cannot park at the building itself.
Whether you can bring a dog is unsettled. One writer did bring hers in — and pins it to November 2025, adding that she does not know if it still holds and that you should call first. Two posts copy "pets allowed" from the Naver listing and one photographs an in-shop notice saying the same; copied lines are not observations, so we did not count them. No post explains how to get here without a car — everyone drove or walked three to ten minutes from a nearby hotel or guesthouse.
