Silbi Makguksu

실비막국수 Silbi means 'at cost' — the founder is said to have sold his makguksu (buckwheat noodles) at a bare-cost price, and the name stuck.

Compiled from 15 blog posts read in fullSources →

A makguksu house running since 1967, at 25 Soyanggogae-gil in Chuncheon's Soyang-ro 2-ga, in the lane behind Seobu Market. The plain bowl (2dae) is 9,000 won, the one topped with boiled pork (1dae) 13,000 won, the double portion (adeul) 11,000 won. Noodles arrive under a dollop of sauce; you mix them dry, then pour in dongchimi broth from the steel pot on the table. Many tables add boiled pork (18,000/25,000 won) and a mung-bean pancake (9,000 won). We read 30 posts from 11 August to 23 October 2026: 18 written after a visit, 10 introductions or lists that only repeat listing details, and 2 set aside as being about other places.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Expect a wait at lunch and on weekends. Six posts say they queued: under 10 minutes, 10 minutes at 1:30 on a Saturday, about 10 minutes, and 20 minutes at 12:40. One arrived at 11:10, before opening, and was second in line. You sign in at the door — one post says an estimated wait was shown; another registered on a tablet and waited outside on chairs the restaurant put out, next to a fan. One post that came after lunch did not wait at all.
  2. The front room has tables and chairs, with a room further in. A family of five was shown to that inner room, which they describe as having low floor tables on both sides, a baby chair and air conditioning. One post based on 2024 information says all seating is at regular tables, so the floor-seating question is one post against one. Table counts also differ: about ten four-seat tables in one post, about five eight-seat tables in another.
  3. The walls are covered in autographs; five posts mention seeing them, naming Huh Young-man, boxer Hong Soo-hwan, Dindin and Zico among others. The claim that former presidents ate here is hearsay and not counted.
  4. The boiled pork divides opinion: two posts found no off smell, one found it noticeably porky when eaten on its own. Another thought it tasted pre-cooked and reheated — fine, but better wrapped in the noodles.

  1. Two posts mention the receipt-review offer: a free drink or a size-up on the pork. One of them got the medium pork upgraded to large.

Parking

5 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park5 of 15 posts

There is a small private lot right beside the building; five posts parked there. One says it takes only about four cars, so at peak times people end up on the lane's shoulder; another, visiting in the afternoon, guessed it fills at lunch. Two posts point to the free public lot beside building 101 of Yoseon-dong Hanshin Huplus as the overflow.

Where it is

Map showing where Silbi Makguksu is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

No post says which floor the dining room is on or whether there are steps. That is not a no; nobody wrote about it.

Nobody mentions an entrance step or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in. One post says the inner room has floor seating.

No post describes the toilet from experience. One post's info block lists it as indoors, but that is a copied label and we did not count it.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 25 posts we gathered, 10 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-09-242 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No visitor describes getting there by bus or on foot. Directions like 15–18 minutes' walk from Chuncheon Station or bus 300 to Soyang-ro Post Office come from copied listing text.
  • Two posts went with friends, two with family, five drove. No visitor says they went alone; one introduction calls it good for solo diners, but it is not a visit and we did not count it.
  • Opening hours: six visiting posts agree on 11:30–19:00, closed Tuesdays. Three give last orders at 18:30; two give a weekday break from 15:30 to 16:30, one adding that there is none on weekends. A post based on 2024 information says there was no break, so it seems to have been added since. One introduction lists Wed–Sun 10:00–20:00, which matches nothing else.
  • Prices are the same across posts from August to October 2026 (9,000 / 13,000 / 11,000 won). One post says makguksu rose 1,000 won to 9,000 since the 2024 TV feature. A family of five paid 99,000 won for five 1dae bowls, a large pork and a pancake. Nobody called it expensive; one post said the price was fair.
  • Two phone numbers circulate: 0507-1359-2472 in six posts and 033-254-2472 in five. No post says whether bookings are taken.
  • Ten of the posts are itineraries, lists or festival round-ups that copy the address, hours and price table in the same order with no record of eating; one discloses AI-generated images. We did not count them. One blogger wrote up the same August visit in two posts, which we counted separately.
