Raw fishKorean

Hoega

회가 Hoe is Korean for sliced raw fish, which is what the house sells, mostly packed to take away.

A raw-fish takeaway shop in a residential corner of Gyo-dong, Sokcho. We read two posts, from September to October 2026; both ordered ahead by phone, picked up at the shop and ate back at their lodging. Both got the small mixed platter (43,000 won) and the cold raw-fish soup (17,000 won). There is a small dining room too, about five tables by both accounts. The two posts follow nearly the same script — same order, prices and route — so they may be commissioned, though neither discloses sponsorship.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. This is a place to take food away. Both posts collected their order, having phoned ahead — one an hour before. The soup broth comes in a plastic bottle; one writer said that when she mentioned eating it in the evening, they gave her a frozen-solid one.
  2. Both posts said the portions were large. One found each vinegared rice ball the size of two and two bundles of noodles in the soup; the other said two people would be very full and suggested the set for up to three. One post said the fish was cut thick.

Parking

1 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park1 of 2 posts

One post parked free at the K-Mart next door; the other also mentions the supermarket in front as handy for picking up drinks. Neither mentions parking of the shop's own.

Where it is

Map showing where Hoega is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

Beyond the '1st floor' in the address, no one wrote about the floor.

No one said whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in. That means we don't know, not that it's impossible.

No one mentioned the toilets.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Both posts note a dining room, but neither ate in it. One relays the shop's word that the room normally closes at 9 pm and may close early on busy takeaway days.
  • Both posts give hours of 11:00-22:30, closed Wednesdays, but both look copied from a listing block rather than observed.
  • Both posts called it good value (43,000 won for the small platter, 17,000 for the soup), but with only two near-identical posts it is too early to say much about prices.
  • Neither post gives the phone number, though both booked by phone and one says Naver booking also works.
  • No one described getting there by bus or on foot; the posts only say it is a two- to five-minute drive from Jungang Market.
  • We don't know about waits. Both posts ordered ahead and picked up straight away; one saw the dining room full on a Thursday evening but mentions no queue.
  • Only one post said who came along (a married couple), not enough to say what kind of outing it suits.
