Namchon Makguksu Bunjeom

A buckwheat-noodle house on the main road in Sinbuk-eup, Chuncheon, on the way to Soyang Dam. It is the branch of Namchon Makguksu, whose original shop sits in Geunhwa-dong; posts describe the original as an old-style place and this one as a new, roomy building with its own car park. The core dishes are mixed noodles topped with minced pork in a mild soy-based sauce and noodles in radish-kimchi broth, with potato, mung-bean and buckwheat-crepe sides; young-radish kimchi and dongchimi come free. Noodles were 9,000 won regular and 11,000 large in posts up to June 2026, and 10,000 and 12,000 from July. We read 30 posts from June 2025 to October 2026; 14 were about the original shop or another restaurant and were set aside, leaving 12 first-hand visits.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Seating splits in two: a shoes-on table hall on one side and a shoes-off room on the other. Three posts mention taking shoes off and three mention floor-level tables; the room mixes floor tables with regular ones, so one writer sat at a raised table after removing shoes. A family with a baby chose the floor seating.
  2. Five posts say the portions are large. A regular bowl holds two bundles of noodles and a large three; one writer was stuffed without ordering the large, another regretted the large the moment it arrived. Two posts say staff brought an extra empty bowl for sharing.
  3. The seasoning is on the mild side; three posts say it is not salty, one finding it blander than the original shop. A writer who likes strong flavours said the noodles were too plain for them. Another ordered extra chili paste to add.
  4. Three posts came with children. A May 2026 post ordered the kids' rice, plain rice with seaweed flakes, sesame oil and sesame, unsalted. Two posts fed children the non-spicy dongchimi noodles.

Parking

7 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park7 of 11 posts

Parking is the easy part: seven of the twelve visits mention parking, usually with words like 'a fairly big lot'. One writer came here after the original shop specifically because they had heard the branch was easier to park at. One post, at lunch on a holiday weekend in October 2026, found the lot full and cars lining the roadside.

Where it is

Map showing where Namchon Makguksu Bunjeom is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

We do not know about floors: nobody described a basement or upstairs area. The '1st floor' in the address is copied text, not something a visitor reported.

We do not know whether wheelchairs or strollers get in or whether there is a step at the door. Two posts carry a 'wheelchair accessible' line, but it is copied from the listing, so we did not count it. All we know is that one dining room is shoes-off.

We do not know where the toilets are or whether they are separated by gender; that appears only in copied listing text.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 15 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Waiting varies. One post, at lunch on an October 2026 holiday weekend, queued; two others (July 2025, a Saturday in July 2026) walked straight in. The one that queued says you must give your party size at the desk first, nothing says so, and the order got mixed up among customers since only head counts are written down.
  • Prices went up. Posts from June 2025 to June 2026 give 9,000 won regular and 11,000 large, with dongchimi noodles at 9,000; from a 4 July 2026 visit on it is 10,000 and 12,000, and an October 2026 post lists dongchimi noodles and the buckwheat crepe at 10,000 each. The platter noodles appear as 21,000 won (small) in one 2025 post and 27,000 in another.
  • Six visit posts give the hours as 10:00-20:00. Five say it closes on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month; one October 2026 post says second and fifth. Last order at 19:30 appears in one post. Much of this is copied from the listing. The Tuesday closure and 10:30 opening belong to the original shop, not this branch.
  • No visit post describes getting here by bus or train; one drove and one took a taxi. Posts about walking from Chuncheon Station or the Soyang River statue were about the original shop in Geunhwa-dong, and we set them aside.
  • Few posts came with friends: four went with family, one with friends and one alone.
  • Two posts give the phone number as 033-241-6003. Nobody reports booking a table; 'reservations' appears only in copied listing text. The original shop has different numbers.
  • Four posts were kept but not counted as visits: a promotional-sounding August 2026 post whose crepe filling contradicts others, a July 2025 post that closely copies an earlier post's menu and wording and cites other blogs as sources, and two multi-restaurant lists. A sponsored post about a same-named noodle shop in Bongpyeong, Pyeongchang, was tagged to this branch by mistake and set aside.
