Chamnamu Sutbul Dakgalbi
참나무숯불닭갈비 Chamnamu means oak and sutbul means charcoal fire — the chicken is grilled over oak charcoal, here on a bed of heated maekbanseok stones laid over the coals.

A charcoal dakgalbi house on the chicken-rib strip below Soyang Dam in Sinbuk-eup, Chuncheon. Each table gets a layer of round maekbanseok stones over oak charcoal, and you grill the chicken on the stones yourself. Eight posts put all four flavours — salt, red marinade, spicy and soy — at 17,000 won a portion, usually with 9,000-won buckwheat noodles or the big tray version. The building was rebuilt on the same site after a fire, and every post we read comes from after that. We read 28 posts dated 20 May to 17 October 2026; 24 describe an actual visit.

Rows without a count: 12 of 16 posts.
Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- You grill it yourself: two posts say so outright, and a third says staff started the cooking and then left it to them. Several posts warn that the meat sticks to the stones, so you turn it often, and when marinade burns on you flip the stones or swap in fresh ones from the edge, since the grill can't be changed. Two posts said small pieces fall between the stones.
- This is a drive-to place: sixteen visit posts mention parking, and thirteen say the lot is large. One post notes the car park is behind the building, with its own entrance.
- Six posts say you order on a kiosk or tablet at the table. Basic side dishes come out first and the self-serve bar has more; four posts singled out a sweet corn-and-red-bean mash there, three liking it and one not.
- Three posts brought or saw dogs inside. One couple with two large dogs had to show rabies vaccination records, were seated in the dog section — about three four-person tables by the back windows — and waited 40 minutes on a separate dog queue. Another was placed at the innermost table because of their dog. Two posts mention the restaurant's own dogs in the yard.
3 more
- Waits vary. Three posts waited — the dog owners were told over an hour and waited 40 minutes, and another waited because tables weren't cleared fast enough. Four didn't wait: weekday noon, Saturday around 2:30 pm, Sunday evening and a weekday daytime. Three posts mention waiting seats outside the entrance.
- Even the medium tray of noodles is huge — all three posts that ordered it say so, one likening the bowl to a washbasin. On the other hand, one post felt the chicken portion was small for 17,000 won.
- Three posts came with children and three mention high chairs. Posts mention a children's rice plate, a kids' soybean stew and unseasoned chicken for a toddler; one warned that the hot stone grill needs care around small children.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
Getting inside
| Toilet inside | 2 of 24 posts |
|---|---|
| Separate restrooms | 2 of 24 posts |
No post describes the floor level or stairs from experience — that means nobody wrote about it, not that there are none.
No post says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in. One couple brought a dog stroller but didn't describe the entry.
Two posts say the toilets are inside, next to the counter, and two say they are separate for men and women.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 27 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Smoke and heat split the posts. One said the room was full of smoke, ventilation was poor and the heat drove them out — they won't return. Three others said the smoke extraction worked well.
- On staff it's one for, one against: a family post praised how kindly staff treated their child, another found them unfriendly.
- It didn't move: the building was rebuilt on the same site after a fire. A September 2026 revisit noticed the remodel; posts disagree on whether the fire was last year or early this year. We read nothing from before the rebuild.
- Seventeen posts list opening hours, nearly all copied into an info block. Fourteen say closed Tuesdays, and most agree on 10:00–18:00 Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (last order 16:30) and 10:00–21:00 Friday to Sunday (last order 19:30). One post alone gives 20:00 and 20:30 closings. One visitor arrived around 4 pm on a weekday and confirmed it closes at 6.
- Prices come only from posts between May and August 2026: 17,000 won per portion of chicken, 9,000 won for buckwheat noodles. Two meal totals were given: 62,000 won for three portions, noodles and a drink, and 82,000 won for four portions, rice, noodles and a drink. One post found it pricey.
- Nine posts give the phone number as 0507-1332-0388 and two as 033-242-0388. No one actually made a booking; reservations appear only in copied info blocks.
- No post describes reaching the restaurant by bus or train. One says it is about 15 minutes by car from Chuncheon Station; a visitor who came to Chuncheon by train didn't say how they got to the restaurant. We don't know how it works by public transport.
