Taebaeksan Hanuchon
태백산한우촌 Taebaeksan is the mountain that gives the town of Taebaek its name, hanu is Korean native beef and chon means village — roughly 'Taebaek Mountain Hanwoo Village'.

Taebaeksan Hanuchon is a Korean-beef barbecue house in a standalone building at 911 Taebaek-ro, next to the Taebaek public health centre. You grill hanwoo yourself over charcoal at the table, and there is a separate briquette-grill room upstairs. We read 30 posts from December 2024 to October 2026, 25 of them from people who actually went. Rib-finger and sirloin now cost 35,000 won for 180g (posts from late August 2026); earlier posts gave 34,000 won for 200g. The mixed plate is chuck flap, rib-finger and sirloin; doenjang stew is 2,000 won, cold noodles 5,000 won, and lunch specials such as beef-tartare bibimbap (13,000 won) run until 2 p.m. Eight posts went with family and three with a spouse. Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- There are a lot of private rooms — twenty posts mention them. Rooms line both sides of the entrance with the main hall in between. One writer says each room holds two four-person tables and the walls between rooms fold back, and saw a family of more than ten using two rooms joined together. The room counts of 'over 10' or '12' that recur across posts are copied from the restaurant's own description.
- Eleven posts mention walls covered in celebrity autographs.
- Eleven posts found the portions generous. An August 2025 post noted that nearby places served 180g for the same price while this one served 200g, and three diners who added outside skirt to a three-portion mixed plate said it felt like eating for six.
- No post calls it expensive; nine say the prices are fair. One family of three paid 113,000 won for three portions of rib-finger plus cold noodles, stew and three bowls of rice (July 2026).
2 more
- Six posts mention reservations; four booked ahead by phone and were taken straight to a room. In August 2026 one writer arriving in the early evening was told the rooms were already fully booked and ate in the hall.
- One post came by train and walked: about 1 km from Taebaek Station, roughly 15 minutes on foot or under five by taxi.

Parking
19 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

The whole front yard is a car park. Nineteen posts found parking easy, and one says it is big enough for several tour buses. The figure of 25 spaces that appears in almost every post is the restaurant's own number, so we did not count it.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| Second floor | 4 of 25 posts |
|---|---|
| In a basement | yes 0 · no 2 (of 25 posts read) |
Four posts describe the upper floor: charcoal grills downstairs, a briquette-grill room upstairs. One writer was sent upstairs on a busy weekday and grilled over briquettes, with food sent up by a dumbwaiter; another says the upstairs room looks out at the mountain through floor-to-ceiling glass. Two posts say they ate on the ground floor.
The restaurant occupies the ground and first floors; two posts ate on the ground floor and none mention a basement. One says you reach the upstairs briquette room by stairs.
Nobody says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or pushchair can get in — that means unknown, not absent. Two posts note that you keep your shoes on and sit at tables.
No post says whether the toilet is inside or whether it is separated by gender; one only says it is clearly signposted.
No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 30 posts we gathered, 5 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Prices depend on when the post was written. Up to August 6, 2026 posts give 34,000 won for 200g and 38,000 won for the mixed plate; an August 16 post paid 80,000 won for two mixed portions; from August 27 it is 35,000 won for 180g. A December 2024 post gave 34,000 won for 180g. Check the date before relying on any meal price.
- Sixteen posts give the same opening hours, 10:00–21:30 daily, though most copy them from a standard info block. Closing days are disputed: four posts say open every day of the year, two say closed on the first and third Monday of each month. One December 2024 post gave a 22:00 close.
- Only one post discloses sponsorship, but many posts from May to September 2026 repeat the same phrases in the same order — 'over 30 years', '25 parking spaces', 'more than 10 rooms', the same search keyword. They may be commissioned, so we counted checkable details such as menu, prices and seating rather than praise for the taste.
- No post reports waiting. Two arrived around 11 a.m. and at noon on a Sunday and were seated at once. Whether there is a queue in the evening or on holidays we don't know, though several posts describe a full house.
