Joseonok Silbi Sikdang
조선옥실비식당 Joseon-ok is a house name meaning 'Joseon house'; silbi means 'actual cost' — the Taebaek name for beef restaurants that sell meat near butcher-shop prices and grill it over briquettes.
Compiled from 6 blog posts read in fullSources →
A briquette-grill hanwoo place inside Taebaek's Hwangji Jayu Market, in front of the market office. The owner also runs the butcher shop next door; you grill the rib-finger cuts and marinated jumulleok yourself over coal briquettes and finish with doenjang stew and rice. The only price we have, from one blogger's info block, is 34,000 won a portion. We read 13 posts from August 2025 to August 2026; six record an actual meal, one was about another restaurant, and the rest are TV recaps or listings.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- With so few tables, booking matters. Four visitors wrote about reservations. One who came at 2 p.m. on a Sunday in August 2025 found no other diners but tables already reserved; one on a Tuesday evening in August 2026 saw many walk-ins turned away. A February 2026 post says Saturdays are first come, first served, and to book for other busy times.
- The room is small: three posts say so, and two counted five tables. A February 2026 post even suggests another silbi restaurant if you want space.
- One August 2026 visitor came by city bus No. 7 from Danggol Square to the market for dinner, then walked to Taebaek Station.

Parking
3 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Three posts parked at the market's public lot. An August 2025 visitor says the restaurant is just left of the market entrance once you step out of the lot; two February 2026 posts say parking was free at the weekend and that the owner handed over a one-hour free ticket. Nobody mentions parking at the door.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
From the station
1 posts say it is walkable from the station.
Getting inside
No post says which floor it is on or mentions stairs — only that it sits near a market entrance.
We don't know about steps at the door or wheelchair and stroller access; no one wrote about it either way.
No post says whether the toilet is inside the restaurant or a shared market one.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 12 posts we gathered, 6 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Seasoning is split: one post found the stew fairly salty, two found the marinade and side dishes not salty — though they were talking about different dishes.
- No one wrote about queuing. One 2 p.m. visitor walked straight in; another saw walk-ins leave rather than wait. Talk of long peak-time lines appears only in a TV-recap post, which we do not count.
- Company is barely recorded: one family of four adults; the other posts don't say who they came with.
- Four visitor posts list opening hours: three say 10:00–21:00, one February 2026 post says 11:00–21:00 daily. All come from copied info blocks, and none gives a closing day.
- Prices come from just one blogger (34,000 won a portion for the rib-finger mix or jumulleok, 2026); the other visitors give none. One May 2026 visitor reckons the same quality would cost far more in Seoul.
- Five posts give the owner's mobile, 010-3355-8836, for bookings; two list a landline, 033-553-1911.
- Four posts from 22 August 2025 recycle the same KBS TV-segment copy and are not counted as visits. Claims like 'century-old store', 'second generation' and 'slaughters its own cattle' are hearsay and not used.
