Hambat Sikdang

함밭식당 Sikdang simply means restaurant; none of the posts explain Hambat, whose second syllable bat means a field.

Compiled from 18 blog posts read in fullSources →

A hanwoo butcher-restaurant at Seomgang-ro 88 in Hoengseong town, next to the Seomgang riverbank. You pick packaged cuts from the butcher's showcase and grill them over charcoal at your table, paying a per-person table charge (5,000 won in six of the visit posts). Four posts skipped the grill and had only set meals: raw-beef bibimbap at 13,000 won, raw-beef cold noodles at 12,000 won, spicy beef soup at 12,000 won, or a pork stir-braise set. Several mention a self-serve coffee and tea corner by the exit. We read 30 posts dated 21 July to 25 October 2026; 18 record an actual meal, the other 12 are entries in listicles, festival guides or travel-subsidy guides.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Extra side dishes come from a self-serve corner, as five posts note; one found the selection limited, another was pleased to see salted squid.
  2. No post says it waited itself, and the two that mention a queue split: one arriving around 5:50 pm saw people queuing 10-20 minutes later, another went at an off-peak hour and walked straight in. One post mentions a ticket-number system.

Parking

Posts saying you can park13 of 18 posts

Parking is right in front. Thirteen of the 18 visit posts parked there; two gave a size, 'at least 15 cars' and 'easily about 10'. Posts from a Sunday lunch and the Chuseok holiday noted the lot was fairly full.

Getting inside

Second floor6 of 18 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 5 (of 18 posts read)
Toilet inside1 of 18 posts
Separate restrooms1 of 18 posts

There are two floors. Six posts mention upstairs seating, one was sent up because the ground floor was full, and one notes the upstairs is reached by stairs. Three posts mention outdoor or terrace tables; one said smokers at the adjacent smoking spot meant they kept shutting the door.

There is no basement level as far as posts go: the five that describe seating mention only ground and upper floors.

No post says whether there is a step at the entrance, whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in, or whether there is a lift. That means unknown, not absent. One post notes the upper floor is reached by stairs.

Only one post describes the toilets as being inside from experience; none mention an accessible toilet.

Toilets are split by floor: one post says the men's is on the ground floor and the women's is upstairs, up the stairs. Only that one post describes it first-hand; two other posts carry the same line in a copied info block, which we did not count.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 12 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-10-252 posts in one day
2026-09-222 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No post describes getting there by bus or train. Drivers note it is about five minutes from Hoengseong IC, and one post says it is about a ten-minute walk from the Seomgang riverbank festival ground. Unknown, not impossible.
  • Company varies: three posts went as a group (two of them four friends), one with a partner, one with family, one with a child. None went alone.
  • Opening hours appear only as copied info blocks and disagree. All say 11:00 opening and 14 say closed Tuesdays. Closing is 21:00 in 10 posts and 21:30 in 6, five of which share the same template. Seven list a 14:30-16:30 break; last order is 20:00 in three and 20:20 in two. Call ahead.
  • Grill prices vary pack by pack with cut, grade and weight, so a per-meal figure is hard to give. One post lists per-100 g prices: ribeye 22,000 won, striploin 25,000 won. A party of three paid 133,700 won for three packs plus 15,000 won in table charges. One post calls it expensive, one cheap, and one says prices were high that day because of top grades. The table charge is 5,000 won in six posts and 4,000 won in one.
  • Accounts of payment differ: three posts paid for everything on the way out, two paid for the meat at the counter first.
  • More than ten posts give the phone number as 033-343-2549; one heritage-shop list gives 343-8900. Reservations and takeaway are mentioned only in copied info blocks, never from experience.
  • Six of the visit posts follow nearly the same template and wording, ending in the same hours block, and only one of them discloses being paid. All six posts calling the meat thick-cut belong to that group. The heritage-shop and Blue Ribbon awards are copied from signs at the entrance and we did not treat them as evidence.
