Umi Dakgalbi Bonjeom
우미닭갈비 본점 Dakgalbi is chicken stir-fried in a spicy sauce on an iron griddle, and bonjeom means the original (main) branch; the posts give no meaning for 'Umi'.
Compiled from 21 blog posts read in fullSources →
A dakgalbi house at the mouth of Chuncheon's Myeongdong dakgalbi alley (4 Geumgang-ro 62beon-gil), where chicken is stir-fried on big iron griddles. Four 2026 posts put the original dakgalbi at 16,000 won a portion; staff cook it at the table, diners add udon or cheese, and finish with fried rice (3,500 won). There is a separate non-spicy soy-sauce dakgalbi for children, and seven posts came with kids. We read 30 posts from May 2025 to October 2026; 21 are records of actually eating here. Eight were list or never-visited itinerary posts and weren't counted, and one about the same-name Ingongpokpo branch was set aside.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.
What sets it apart
- Expect to queue at mealtimes. Six posts say they waited, and the times they give are 10, 15, 20, 30 and 30 minutes; the sixth just noted a line around 7 pm on a Saturday. A November 2025 post said it was the only place in the alley with a queue. Three posts didn't wait: one around 4 pm, one at 1 pm on a Sunday, one that went between mealtimes. The 7 pm cut-off for the queue appears only in copied info blocks.
- Staff cook the dakgalbi at your table — 14 posts say so. But two of them add it was because the place was quiet that day, saying diners usually turn it themselves. A November 2025 visitor had to turn it at first, with staff coming over to cut and finish it once it was partly cooked. When it's busy, the first few minutes may be yours.
- Seven posts came with children. They describe a separate soy-sauce dakgalbi for kids (16,000 won) cooked apart from the spicy one; two posts mention high chairs ('there are lots of them'), and one mentions floor seating alongside regular tables.
- Side dishes are basic — lettuce, garlic, radish water kimchi — and you top up at a self-serve bar; eight posts mention it. One refilled lettuce three or four times; another missed having hot green chillies at the bar.
1 more
- Nine posts found the portions generous. Two say a portion is 300 g, and a solo diner found a single portion surprisingly filling. One post felt it was plenty for two but short for four, and advised ordering one portion per person.

Parking

There's no dedicated car park. The four posts that drove used the underground-arcade lot or the Jungang Market lot, one noting the market lot was free at the weekend. That the arcade lot is paid with no validation from the restaurant comes from copied info blocks.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| Toilet inside | 1 of 21 posts |
|---|
No post says which floor the dining room is on or whether there are stairs.
Nobody mentions a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or pushchair — even among the seven posts with children. That isn't a no; it's simply unrecorded.
Only one post notes the toilet is inside; nobody says whether it is separated by gender or how big it is.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 29 posts we gathered, 8 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
| 2026-10-05 | 4 posts in one day |

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Minimum order is unclear: an August 2026 solo diner ordered a single portion, while a March 2026 post said orders started at three portions. Worth checking before you go.
- Posts lean towards mild: three say it isn't very spicy (one wished it were hotter), four say the seasoning isn't strong — balanced or even bland. One found it sweet.
- Walking from the station: one post said about ten minutes from Chuncheon Station; another said 21 minutes and called it fairly far.
- An August 2025 post says the restaurant used to sit mid-alley and moved to the first spot at the alley entrance. A May 2025 post already places it at the entrance, so the move predates everything we read; all our posts describe the current site. The '55th-anniversary expansion' story is hearsay.
- On price, three posts call it expensive (one was startled by 2,000 won for rice) and one called it good value — 63,300 won for three portions plus corn makgeolli and cheese. All dakgalbi prices we have are from 2026; we don't know 2025 prices. One post got 1,000 won off per review (2,000 won for two); another couldn't pay with Gangwon gift vouchers.
- One post found the staff unfriendly — tired, 'like a war zone'. No post specifically praised their friendliness.
- Opening hours vary slightly between posts, and all are copied rather than observed. May 2025 and July 2026-onward posts give a 9:30 opening; two posts from January and March 2026 give 10:00. Closing is 20:00 daily in four posts and 20:30 in two; one says only Saturdays run to 20:30, another says both weekend days. Four posts list last orders at 19:20. Several also copy a notice that it closes early when ingredients run out.
- The phone number 033-253-2428 is copied in many posts, but nobody reports booking by phone or whether reservations are taken.
- Eight of the 30 posts are promotional lists or itineraries — templated 'top 10' roundups, travel guides illustrated with AI images, an armchair-travel post written without visiting — and we didn't use them as evidence.
