Wori Memil Dakgangjeong
월이 메밀 닭강정 Memil dakgangjeong means buckwheat sweet-glazed fried chicken: the batter has buckwheat flour in it. Wol-i reads as a personal name, which none of the posts explain.

A fried-chicken shop inside Bongpyeong market at 33 Gipung 3-gil, Bongpyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang. It sells three things: boneless dakgangjeong in a batter made with buckwheat flour (21,000 won a box), a glazed dried-pollack version (24,000 won), and plain buckwheat-batter fried chicken (20,000 won). Most people take the box back to their lodging, car or campsite. We read 30 posts dated 18 August to 18 October 2026 and counted the 24 by people who actually bought and ate the food. We left out two golf-course listings, two posts that only pass on someone else's recommendation, and two reposts of the same visit by the same author. Nineteen posts say they took it away.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.
What sets it apart
- Here the wait comes after you order. Three posts say you pay, get a number written on your receipt and are told when to come back. Ten posts say they waited: 20 minutes, 20 minutes, about 20 minutes, and 20 to 30 minutes on a weekend. One market-day visitor had to come back two hours after ordering. Another says around lunchtime the pickup times slip by 30 minutes to an hour. One person arrived 10 minutes before opening and ended up first in line. Four posts got their box right away, on a weekday or after the lunch rush. One writer remembers no wait at all in 2022, and numbers in the hundreds some time after that.
- Posts disagree on whether you can phone ahead. Two say they called ahead and picked up without waiting, and one of them says the chicken was still piping hot after calling 15 minutes before. Another says phone and app orders are not taken, in person only. One more could not get through on the phone and just went in.
- No post calls the staff friendly. Three say they were curt: a take-it-or-leave-it feel, a male worker who snapped and ignored questions, and plain not very friendly. All three still buy for the taste.
- Eleven posts found it spicy, mostly the regular version: slightly hot, about as hot as instant ramen. Two say even the mild version has a quiet kick. Three say the regular was not hot at all. Of the five posts with children, the kids who eat kimchi and ramen managed fine. The posts warn that children who avoid spice may find even the mild version too hot.
3 more
- Seven posts say the batter is crisp, crisp even cold, with a crust that shatters. One called it somewhere between crisp and soggy. Two posts pass on that the ready boxes are fried ahead and cooled, so a warm batch takes extra time.
- Eating in splits four posts to two. Four saw tables inside, about two of them. Two say no eating in, takeout only. Two posts describe the shop as small, and several mention stacks of chicken boxes.
- Four posts saw a Korean-cuisine master award and plaques on the wall by the counter, and three saw celebrity photos and autographs. These are what the shop puts on display, not a measure of the food.

Parking
3 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

One post says the lane out front is narrow and fits only a car or two briefly. Three parked at the free Bongpyeong market public lot and walked 3 to 5 minutes. Three found the front impossible and parked on the roadside or elsewhere. One says cars cannot get in on market days.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
Getting inside
No post says what floor the shop is on. One mentions that the bakery next door is in the basement, but that is not this shop. We don't know.
No post says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller fits through. One only notes that the main entrance is around the corner to the right of the door people usually photograph. That doesn't mean there is no access, just that nobody has written about it.
No post says whether there is a toilet inside the shop. One mentions toilets at the public car park, which are not the shop's. We don't know.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 30 posts we gathered, 6 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
| 2026-10-12 | 2 posts in one day |
|---|
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Opening hours: every post agrees on 10:30 opening, but closing time varies. Seven posts give 19:00 with last orders at 18:30, and three give 20:00 with last orders at 19:00. One notes that Naver and the sign on the door disagree. Several say it closes on Wednesdays but opens on market days, those ending in 2 or 7. All of these are copied listings, so check before you go.
- Price: a box of buckwheat dakgangjeong is 21,000 won in every post from August to October 2026. One post says a box fed two adults over two days, and another that it was plenty for a family. One mentions a 100-won charge for a plastic bag. One paid with the Pyeongchang local currency voucher.
- Phone: four posts list 0507-1378-1289 and three list 033-335-1289. One post says the line is hard to reach when busy and another could not get through, so phoning ahead to order or book is not a sure thing.
- No post arrived by bus or train. Everyone drove or walked over from a nearby restaurant or the market. We don't know how practical public transport is.
- Nine posts went with family and two with a partner. None went alone or with a group of friends.
- Two posts share almost identical wording, from the high-rutin bitter buckwheat to the 30 minutes for a warm batch and milder than Shin Ramyun, and list the menu in the same order. They look like write-ups drawn from the same source. We counted what the writers said they experienced but did not rely on the shared phrasing.
