호맥 대흥점 Homaek Daeheung-jeom Hotteok-and-beer house in Daejeon's Daeheung-dong

정종/대포집/소주방 · Jung-gu, Daeheung-dong

Compiled from 25 blog posts read in fullSources →

Homac Daeheung is a beer house in the lane behind the Chonnomdeul crossing, at the top of the eating quarter in Daeheung-dong, Jung-gu, Daejeon. The snack that goes with the beer is hotteok — not the street-stall pancake but a layered pastry version that arrives the size of a small pizza, with a cutter to quarter it. They run sweet and savoury side by side: red-bean and dark sugar, apple and cinnamon, chilli pepperoni, bacon and cheese — alongside lighter things like udon, instant fire-noodles and dried fish, and their own draft and dark beers. Six in the evening until two in the morning, one on Sundays. It is one branch of a chain. The posts we read run from September 2024 to September 2026.

Rows without a count: 9 of 14 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

These hours are counted from the posts we read. Shops change them without notice — check Naver Place before you go. Place — check hours

What sets it apart

  1. There are two ways the ice cream comes free. Five writers, between December 2025 and June 2026, say you tell a member of staff, leave a Naver receipt review, and a cup arrives. Separately, a November 2024 writer found the dark-sugar one taken off her bill because she had come in before eight — she had ordered it not knowing, and was told at the table. Which flavour turns up varies between accounts. Two writers say to spoon it onto the hot hotteok. One, in August 2026, simply did not like it.
  2. A hotteok runs ₩13,500 to ₩16,500, and the posts argue about it. Two writers think it dear for what is, after all, a hotteok — one wondered aloud whether a pizza would have been better value. Two others think it fair once it arrives: it is the size of a small pizza and comes with nachos, whipped cream, salsa and a macaroni salad. A December 2025 writer reckoned the price had gone up about ₩2,000 from her last visit. Draft beer is ₩5,000–6,000; the dark beers ₩6,500–7,000.
  3. Almost everyone arrives on foot, and as a second stop. Sixteen of the twenty-nine had already eaten somewhere else in Daeheung-dong and walked over. Only one writer describes the journey in her own words: out of exit 4 at Jungangno station, past the cinema, left along the road and two blocks in. Another walked from the Hanwha Life Ballpark after a game; a third came downstairs from the guesthouse in the building above. Nobody else says how they got there.
  4. Whether this is a quiet place depends entirely on when you go. One writer found plenty of free tables at eleven on a Friday night; another was the first customer through the door at twenty past six on a Saturday; a third chose the place because the back looked calm. Against that: one found it already loud on a weekday evening, one had a company dinner at the next table and could barely hear herself, and one liked the racket. Three mention the big screen they put the baseball and football on, which suggests match nights are not the quiet ones. On size, three agree independently that it is roomier inside than it looks.

Where it is

From the station

Almost everyone arrives on foot, and as a second stop. Sixteen of the twenty-nine had already eaten somewhere else in Daeheung-dong and walked over. Only one writer describes the journey in her own words: out of exit 4 at Jungangno station, past the cinema, left along the road and two blocks in. Another walked from the Hanwha Life Ballpark after a game; a third came downstairs from the guesthouse in the building above. Nobody else says how they got there.

Getting inside

Toilet inside2 of 25 posts
Separate restrooms1 of 25 posts

No one mentions floors or stairs either. The licence register lists the shop on the ground floor, but not a single writer says which floor they were on, or whether they went up or down to get there. The closest anyone comes is a guest from the building above, who calls it "the Homac right below our room." Two describe rope and oak casks hung from a high ceiling, which is a different matter.

Nobody writes about getting in. Across all twenty-nine posts the words wheelchair, pushchair, ramp, step and threshold do not appear once. That is not the same as saying there is no step — we simply do not know. These writers photograph the hotteok, the beer and the room; the only thing they say about the entrance is that it looks handsome from the street. If it matters to you, you will have to ask the shop.

Only three writers mention the toilet. One chose the place partly because it looked as though the toilet was inside rather than out in the building. One posted a photograph of it on her way back from a beer. The third reports that the men's and women's are separate and well kept, but that the washbasin sits outside the toilet door — worth knowing before you go looking for it. Three out of twenty-nine is not confirmation. No one mentions an accessible toilet.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 26 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • The hours were different in 2024. Fourteen posts give opening times. All thirteen from 2025 onward say six in the evening — nine of them adding that it runs to two in the morning except on Sundays, when it is one; three say simply "two every night." But a single post from September 2024 has 5.30pm, closing at one Sunday to Thursday and at two on Friday and Saturday — half an hour earlier, and split across the week differently. One post is not a disagreement so much as a trace of a change. Nobody writes about a weekly closing day, and nobody says it never closes. Since it runs late, ring ahead if you are counting on a last train.
  • Not one post declares a sponsorship. Five of the twenty-nine state plainly that they paid; the other twenty-four say nothing either way. One is worth a second look: an April 2026 post that opens with the statutory drinking warning and, in the middle of the text, reproduces in full an Instagram post marked "#ad" — put out by the chain together with a food-supply company — then orders the pairing a television chef recommends in it. She never says she was given anything, so we have not counted it as sponsored, but it is worth knowing what you are reading. Two posts give the phone number, 0507-1412-7039, and say you can book.
