Geolliber Makchang Gyodong-jeom

걸리버막창 교동점 Gulliver, as in Gulliver's Travels, and makchang, grilled pork intestine; this is the chain's Gyodong branch.

Compiled from 8 blog posts read in fullSources →

The Gyodong branch of Gulliver Makchang, on a side street off Gyodong 2-gil in central Daegu. Pork intestine comes out part-grilled from the kitchen and you finish it on the table grill, then dip it in makjang sauce. A portion is 140 g for 13,000 won and the first order must be three portions, so the makchang alone starts at 39,000 won; one diner paid 49,000 won for three portions plus drinks. We read 19 posts dated March to October 2026. Eight are visits to this branch, from April to October 2026. The other eleven were about the main branch in Buk-gu, the Dongseongno or Jongno branches, or other restaurants, and we set them aside.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Seven of the eight visit posts say the makchang arrives already part-grilled. One diner asked the staff and was told to grill it for about three more minutes; two warned that the flame is strong and it burns fast if you don't keep turning it.
  2. Six posts note that the first order is three portions minimum. One couple ordered three portions for the two of them; a party of three started with three and added two more.
  3. Five posts mention jjondigi, a chewy old-school snack served with the side dishes and toasted on the grill before or after the makchang; one found it tucked under the tongs. The other sides are cabbage, perilla leaves, shredded scallion, onion, bean-sprout soup, pickled radish, and chopped scallion and chili to mix into the dipping sauce.
  4. Four posts describe walls covered in celebrity autographs, one saying they run from the front window all the way to the drinks fridge door.

  1. Three posts found the mushroom soybean stew (3,000 won) spicier than expected, one likening it to Cheongyang chili. That's about the stew, not the makchang.

Getting inside

Toilet inside1 of 8 posts

No post describes which floor it's on from experience; only the address says ground floor.

Nobody mentioned a step at the door or wheelchair or stroller access. That means we don't know, not that it's fine.

One post says the toilet is inside the restaurant. Nobody said whether there are separate men's and women's rooms.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Waits vary. Two posts waited: 20 to 30 minutes behind 13 groups around 6 pm on a Sunday, and 15 minutes behind one group around 9 pm. Two others walked straight in, one by arriving at opening time, one on a weekday evening. One post says the list is handwritten, you're skipped if you're not there when called, and there are chairs outside to wait on.
  • Opinions on space split one to one: one post found the tables well spaced, another said the room isn't big. Two agree it runs long and deep with many tables, though one of them felt the tables were packed close and found it very loud.
  • No post describes actually getting there by subway or bus. 'Five minutes from Jungangno Station exit 3' comes from a copied info block. One post took a taxi from the Shinsegae department store, about 15 minutes.
  • Opening hours come only from copied info blocks. Five posts give daily 2 pm to 12:30 am; one says 2 pm to 1 am, open every day of the year.
  • Two posts give different phone numbers (053-219-7772 and 053-421-9292). One saw 'reserved' signs on tables, but no one wrote about booking by phone.
