어반플립 신부점 Eoban Peullip A dim, black-toned dessert café up one flight in Cheonan's Sinbu-dong, baking its own cakes and finansiers
Compiled from 27 blog posts read in fullSources →
Urban Flip is a café on the first floor up at 9 Meokgeori 5-gil, in the eating alley across from Cheonan's express bus terminal. Black-toned and deliberately dim, so that even at noon it reads as evening; the regulars have a word for that. The bread and the pastry are baked on the premises — a basque cheesecake the shop treats as its signature, four kinds of finansier, a rice cake baked like a madeleine, and in summer shaved ice with fresh peach, fresh mango or red bean. On the drinks side: a matcha latte the shop makes with 100% Jeju matcha, an einspänner under house-made vanilla-bean cream, and a vanilla latte the owner names as her own pick. Closed Mondays; dogs welcome. The place opened at the end of 2025, so the posts we read cover only two months, July to September 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart
- You can get here without a car, which is rarer than it should be. Five writers place it within walking distance of the express bus terminal — five minutes on two accounts, about 250 metres past the bank on a third. One says outright that she took the bus, because the terminal area is too congested for a driver as new as she is. Another lists public transport ahead of the car parks when telling people how to arrive. It is also directly across from the department store.
- Something extra turns up with the order, on some days. Seven writers were given one, and no two got the same thing: delimanjoo twice, a glazed doughnut, churros, a waffle, a finansier, a fig-topped frozen yoghurt. The one who got the doughnut had walked into a "service day" — the owner going table to table — and only worked that out from the shop's Instagram afterwards. The one who got the fig yoghurt could not find it on the menu and hopes it graduates, which suggests the giveaway doubles as the kitchen testing things on the room. Seven visits out of twenty-seven: most days there is nothing. Do not go expecting it.
- It is built for staying. Ten writers call it quiet; several opened a laptop, read a book, or came alone to work. There is a coat rack and a pile of blankets by the door — two writers found the air conditioning cold — a cushion on every chair, sockets under the seats and wi-fi. One stayed two and a half hours, another an hour and a half. At the till sit a cup of fortune slips the owner wrote out by hand and a guest book; four writers copy the line they drew into their posts.

There is no car park. Twelve writers say so, and one adds — she is one of the two who declare a comped visit — that the café does not validate anywhere else either. Those who drove used the fourth or fifth municipal car park nearby and walked three to five minutes, which they report as cheap. One writer's workaround: park at the department store and claim the free voucher through its app. Three mention leaving a car in the alley or at the kerb, which in an eating street on a Friday evening is not advice so much as a confession.

Getting inside
| Second floor | 14 of 27 posts |

| Toilet inside | 6 of 27 posts |
It is up a flight of stairs, on the first floor above the street. Fourteen writers say so. The building has an estate agent and a restaurant at ground level; you go in off the alley between a tteokbokki chain and a gamjatang place, opposite a long-standing cutlet shop by two accounts. The sign is small enough to walk past — two writers say so, and one went into the wrong café entirely before someone redirected her. What does catch the eye, by four accounts, is the sandwich board at the foot of the stairs; in summer it advertised fresh peach ice and, in capitals, the strength of the air conditioning. Posters line the stairwell.
We do not know whether you can get up here with a wheelchair or a pushchair — and here that is the question. The café is a floor up and fourteen writers describe climbing the stairs, yet not one of twenty-seven posts mentions a lift. How many steps, whether there is a lip at the door, how wide the aisles run: nobody looked. That is an absence of evidence, not evidence of absence — but with fourteen people describing stairs and nobody describing a lift, the silence leans one way. Ring ahead.
The toilets are inside the café. Six writers looked and said so, and three of them explain why that was worth saying: in a building like this the toilet is usually out in the shared corridor, and here it is through a door beside the mirror. Two say it is kept clean; one liked the room enough to photograph it. Whether it is separated by sex, nobody wrote down.
No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 29 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- It is a small room, and it fills. The one writer who addresses the size calls it not large, and credits the unhurried feel to the owner leaving the middle empty instead of adding tables. She left on a weekday between three and four with every seat taken. Another arrived at three, watched the room fill within ten minutes, and reckons a few minutes later would have meant waiting. A regular says she has turned around at the door on weekends. Nobody, though, records actually queuing, and one post fills in its booking-and-wait line with a pair of crosses. Early on a weekday is the safe bet.
- The chairs divide the writers. One says they are not the soft kind, that she wondered on sitting down whether two and a half hours would tell, and that the cushion on each seat saw her through — then lists, in her own summary of drawbacks, that anyone who needs a properly padded chair may find this one awkward. She is one of the two who declare a comped visit. Another sat an hour and a half and was not uncomfortable at all, and credits the same cushions. Both of them reach for the cushion to explain it, which suggests the chair underneath is hard. Worth knowing before you plan a whole day with a laptop.
- All thirty posts fall inside two months — the rush that follows a new opening. The earliest is 24 July 2026, the latest 27 September, and nine of them went up between 24 and 31 July, nine more between 5 and 8 August. Exactly two declare that the visit was arranged or paid for by the shop; one states she paid her own way. We counted them anyway, because each names different things at different prices and several say something unflattering — the shaved ice fell short of expectations, the finansier was softer than the writer likes, the chair is not padded, the location is a bit rubbish. Even so, the honest assumption is that more of these were comped than say so. This is a place worth reading again in a year, once posts from a quieter stretch have accumulated.
- The signature cake carries three different prices inside two months. The basque cheesecake is ₩5,000 in four posts from late July and early August, ₩6,000 in another post from one of those same days, and ₩7,000 on 27 September. Two writers on one day disagreeing means the slice or the menu may have split; it may equally have simply gone up. We cannot tell. If the board says something else when you get there, the most recent figure is the safer guess.
- The closing time looks to have moved earlier in September. Seventeen posts from July and August give eleven at night, last orders at ten. A post from 8 September and another from 27 September each give ten past ten instead. Two different people three weeks apart writing the same figure is hard to put down to a slip — but neither says they saw the shop announce it, so we are not calling it settled. That it closes Mondays, eighteen posts agree on; one writer advises checking the shop's Instagram for one-off closures before setting out.
- The only number we have is a 0507 relay number, printed identically in twelve posts; not one gives a direct line. Relay numbers stop working when a shop drops the service, so this one may one day go dead. It is also the only way to ask about those stairs.
- There are matchmaking events at weekends — worth knowing before you walk into one. Two writers report weekend singles parties and rotating blind dates, with a pamphlet on the counter and a QR code to sign up; a third took a pamphlet away with her; a fourth recommends the room for a blind date on the grounds that it is dim without being dark. When these run, and whether they take over the whole room, nobody wrote down.
