Sigol Makguksu Jincheon

시골막국수 진천점 Buckwheat noodles pulled to order, in the county town of Jincheon

Data as of · Published ·

A buckwheat-noodle house on the road across from the Jincheon sports complex, in the county town. The noodles are pulled after you order, and the two cold bowls — one in broth, one tossed in sauce — are what the place is for, with boiled pork and buckwheat dumplings alongside. The restaurant has the ground floor; a café has the one above. A separate winter menu appears in the cold months. Four posts note that the county named it a model restaurant in 2025. The posts we read run from October 2025 to September 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

These hours are counted from the posts we read. Shops change them without notice — check Naver Place before you go. Place — check hours

What sets it apart

  1. Nothing is boiled in advance here, so the food is slow. Seven writers time it: one at ten minutes, one at twenty, one at twenty-five, three at thirty, one at forty — the last logging each moment separately, from sitting down to the pork arriving. The one person who found it quick came on a day with no queue. Two were told at the table that fresh noodles are made to order. Only one writer is annoyed by the wait; the rest think it was repaid. One of the thirty-minute crowd writes that even that was forgivable.
  2. What decides the queue is the hour, not the day. Everyone who waited — weekday or weekend — arrived between half past eleven and half past one: one drew ticket eighteen at a weekday lunch, one found five parties ahead at gone one o'clock, one met a line both outside the door and inside it. Those who walked straight in came at opening, or at five when the afternoon break ends, or in the evening. Two writers say they deliberately came at opening to dodge it. One notes that when the car park fills, the cars left on the road outside block it.
  3. A good many posts talk you out of the large bowl. The standard one is already generous, they say — one warns to think twice, another that the regular size did fine, a third that it took two days to finish. You can ask for a smaller portion when you order; one writer took that option for a diet-conscious quirk, did not use it, and regretted it. Two thousand won more for the large. Two writers left food behind.
  4. Buckwheat tea comes free, from a self-serve counter — you fill a small kettle from an urn by the door and carry it to the table. Several note that it is served hot. The only side dish is white kimchi, refillable at the same counter: one writer went back three times, another says you have to ask a server, so the arrangement may have changed. Two mention that spoons are not in the table caddy but by the entrance.
  5. The shop moved here to get more room. A March 2026 post says the writer came because he had heard it had expanded into a bigger space; an April post relays a father's account that it used to trade up by the school. A December 2025 post says this address was a barley-rice house before the noodles arrived. No post gives a date for the move.
  6. There are retrievers on the premises. Two writers count three of them in a corner of the car park; a third found one asleep outside the door. One reports that they butt the wire to be petted. They are not indoor dogs, and no post says whether you may bring your own.

The restaurant is on the ground floor; the café is the one upstairs. Two posts give its name, and three say the noodle receipt takes twenty per cent off an americano up there. One writer meant to go up after lunch and gave it up on finding no decaf. Two mention a lizard vivarium. Not one post says whether the two are under the same ownership — all we can count is that three people were given the discount.

Not one writer says whether you can get in with a wheelchair or a pushchair. Across twenty-eight posts the words for ramp, threshold, step and wheelchair do not appear once. That it is on the ground floor with a wide room is said often, but that is not a statement about the door. One post records a high chair and three came with children, yet none describes bringing a pushchair inside. We are not saying it cannot be done — we are saying nobody looked and wrote it down.

One writer, and only one, looked at the lavatory and wrote it down: out through the glass door, on the left, men's and women's separate. It is not inside the dining room. Two other posts contain the phrase "separate men's and women's", but strung together with takeaway, wi-fi, group bookings, high chairs, contactless and parking — a transcription of the listing page, so we did not count it. Whether there is an accessible lavatory, or how far it is, nobody says.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 28 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Not one writer says how to get here without a car. The three posts that give a distance all measure it in driving minutes — three or four from the county offices, five from the town centre, twenty from the forest resort. No bus, no terminal, no train appears anywhere. The single account of walking is of walking six minutes from the sports-complex car park, having driven there. Several place it near the county offices, in the town itself. Whether a bus will get you here we do not know.
  • The posts disagree about whether there is anywhere to wait. An April 2026 writer found a waiting area set aside; a September one describes a ticket machine at the door. But an August writer says there is nowhere to wait, which is why everyone was standing at the entrance. All three went. How many seats, and whether they are inside or out in the August heat, no post says.
  • The closing day is written down differently from post to post. Six posts between January and August 2026 give the third Wednesday of the month, always with the rider "until August". But one March 2026 writer read the second and fourth Wednesdays off a notice at the door, and added that it changes and you should ring first. If the rule really did expire in August, it may have changed again since, and we have not checked. On hours, a single post puts closing at ten at night against everyone else's eight — and that same post gives the usual afternoon break. Ring before you go.
  • There are two phone numbers. Nine posts give one that is a Naver proxy line, which can expire; the number on the business register is a different one. A third appears in one post, but that post is a directory listing rather than a visit, so it is out of our count. Which line is answered today can only be learned by ringing, and we did not ring. The page gives the registered number, because a proxy line dies the day the shop drops the service. If one does not answer, try the other.
  • Four of our twenty-eight posts come from the county's own blog. They return roughly every four months, and all four lead with the county's "model restaurant" designation and mention the local payment card. None claims to be sponsored, and all four plainly record real meals — different dishes each time, in a different order. Still, twenty-eight posts are not twenty-eight people, and four of them are local-government promotion. Beyond those, not one post discloses sponsorship or payment; seven insist they paid their own way, and one was treated.
