STANDARD BUN
스탠다드번 해운대 해리단길점 Standard Bun Haeundae Haeridan-gil A black-and-white bakery cafe on Haeridan-gil where the buns — mocha, maple butter, Shanghai butter tteok — are the reason to come.
Other · Haeundae-gu, U-dong
Data as of · Published ·
Standard Bun's Haeridan-gil branch is a ground-floor bakery cafe in a lane near Haeundae station, in a converted house with a black cat painted on the wall. Inside is black and white and nothing else, with cats — paintings, dolls, merchandise — everywhere. What it sells is buns: the plain mocha bun under its coffee-flavoured crust, and the Shanghai butter tteok, crisp outside and chewy in, which outsells everything. The shop's own signature is the maple butter bun, served with maple-cured butter on the side. Three writers note it as a new branch of a Seoul shop from Yongsan and Yeouido; one mentions Daegu too. Open ten to nine, every day. The posts we read run from December 2025 to September 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart
- The seats that matter here face the lane. Several writers took them when the inside was full; one sat out in the rain and listened to it over coffee, another found the shade better than the room in summer. In midwinter, though, one writer went inside and found the door propped open anyway — she calls it a semi-outdoor experience.
- For this lane, people keep saying, it has a lot of seats. One writer measures it against the street: most Haeridan-gil cafes are cramped, this one is not. Another expected few seats from the outside and was surprised; another found more room further in and sat down without trouble. It still fills up — one writer got the last corner stool, another found every one of those ample seats taken.
- Three writers mention that a receipt review earns you a free original mocha bun. Not one of them says they collected it. One skipped it deliberately, saving room for dinner; the other two only recommend it. What the shop offers and what people actually do are two different things.
- The window wall and the seats along it come up more than any other spot. One writer stared out through the glass at nothing in particular; another found the sunlit seats already taken; a third was happy to be at the window in winter because of the Christmas decals on it. One notes a queue of people photographing themselves in front of the painted cat.
- In winter a large tree goes up outside and the whole counter changes. Tree, snowman, strawberry and mont-blanc buns appeared then, and one first-time visitor says the tree is how she found the place. The snowman's head was a marshmallow. Our posts cover only one of these winters — whether the same buns come back, we do not know.
- Two writers say in their own words that you can bring a dog. One looked at the outdoor seats and resolved to bring hers next time; the other suggests calling ahead before going inside. Nobody writes about actually having a dog with them — the flat line 'pets allowed' elsewhere is copied from the listing.

Parking
6 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

There is nowhere to park at the shop. Three writers say where they actually left the car: two at the Haeridan-gil public lot behind the old station, one at a private lot two minutes' walk away. One of them prices the choice: the old station lot, she writes, is not being polite about its rates, while the public lot behind the technical high school is genuinely cheap and genuinely steep. The bare line 'no parking, use the public lot' in the other posts is copied from the listing, and we did not count it.

Getting there

Getting inside
| Toilet inside | 2 of 25 posts |
|---|---|
| Separate restrooms | yes 0 · no 2 (of 25 posts read) |
No one records the floor from their own eyes. The '1F' in the address line is what the check-in widget prints; beyond it, not one post mentions steps, a second storey, or moving between levels inside. One writer says the building is a converted house, but says nothing about its floors.
Nobody looked at the threshold or the ramp. Across twenty-seven posts the words wheelchair, pushchair, ramp, step and threshold do not appear once. Two of the writers came with small children, and neither describes the way in. This is not a yes and not a no. It is that we do not know.
Three writers looked at the toilet themselves. Two place it inside; one of them itemises it — unisex, but indoors and very clean. The third found a single stall that smelled a little. The same room is called clean by one and smelly by another, four months apart. Whether there is an accessible toilet, nobody says. One writer went in because she urgently needed it, and never tells us what it was like.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 27 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Ten writers found the shelves short. Weekend afternoon, weekday evening, five o'clock, and one who notes she came early and it made no difference. One switched to the stick-shaped butter tteok because the basic was gone; one happened to catch a fresh tray and bought two boxes; one had been turned away twice before. A staff member told another that a delivery had not arrived. One writer's advice: ring ahead and ask what is left. Do not assume the list on this page is what will be in the case.
- March 2026 draws a cluster of posts, and all five of them went for the butter tteok. It was the item of the moment then, and two writers note it was shown on a national variety programme on 29 March. That tilts what those posts see — four of the five bought and left, with almost nothing about sitting down. In the same weeks another writer judged the Dubai-style cookie already past its peak. What this shop is famous for keeps moving, and our ten months catch one turn of it.
- Nobody describes getting here on their own feet. A line reading '212 metres from exit 4, about four minutes' appears in six posts, but all six are the same copied sentence, and none of them say what the walk was like. The nearest thing to first-hand advice is one writer's note that parking on this street is hard, so take the train. Which way into the lane, and whether it climbs, we do not know.
- Whether the bun is tough or tender is the sharpest disagreement here. Five call it chewy, dry or soggy; three call it crisp outside and moist within. The split has a shape to it: two of the five had ordered cream-filled buns, one guessed hers had dried on the shelf, and another wrote that a bun without cream might have been fine. They may not be disagreeing about the same bread.
- Not one post declares a sponsorship. Eight state in their own words that they paid; the rest say nothing. Two are worth naming: one is the blog of a luggage-storage business in Haeundae writing up its own neighbourhood (she did go and eat), and one repeats the phrase 'Haeridan-gil mocha bun spot' more than ten times in its body. Saying nothing is not the same as having taken nothing.
- Twenty-six posts give the hours and all twenty-six say ten to nine. One, and only one, adds a mid-afternoon break from three to five; another states flatly that there is no break and no closing day. We could not tell which is right, so we loaded neither. The post claiming the break also gives a last order at nine — the same minute the shop shuts — and nobody reports arriving between three and five to find the door closed.
- This is a young shop. Our posts cover ten months, December 2025 to September 2026 — one winter, one summer. The only price we can watch move is the butter tteok: 5,500 won for four on 27 March, 6,000 from three days later. A rise, or a different box? We cannot tell. Three writers introduce it as a branch of a well-known Seoul shop, which means some of what they say may belong to the original rather than to this room.
