Haejeok Ssallong

해적쌀롱 Haejeok means pirate and ssallong is the Korean spelling of saloon — the house is fitted out as a pirates' tropical-beach hideout, with shells, ropes and a crocodile figure.

Compiled from 25 blog posts read in fullSources →

Haejeok Ssallong is a sashimi house on Gunam-ro 12beon-gil, just out of Exit 5 of Haeundae Station, done up as a pirates' tropical-beach hangout over two floors with outdoor street tables. Sixteen of the 25 visits we read ordered the 65,000-won set for two: six kinds of aged sashimi, then seafood, corn cheese, a pancake, tempura, yaki udon and grilled fish, and finally a spicy fish stew. It opens at 4 p.m. and runs to 1 a.m. We read 28 posts dated 15 January to 19 October 2026; 25 of them describe an actual visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. The outdoor street tables are the draw. Seven posts sat at them or described them. One October post found plenty of room around 6 p.m., more people by 6:30, and every outdoor table taken by 7. A September post noted there are only a few terrace tables, so they go fast.
  2. Ten posts called the spread generous, and several said the table was full of side dishes before the sashimi even arrived. One post disagreed: the seafood was smaller than expected and the tempura so scant they ordered more. Two said the sashimi itself was modest but the sides made up for it.
  3. Eight posts said you get a lot for the money, and none called it expensive. The January post compared it with neighbouring places, where a meal for two starts at 80,000 won. A July post argued that a big, fast-turnover tourist place like this one is actually the better value.
  4. Four posts left a review and got soy-marinated shrimp and salmon in return; two mentioned staff peeling the shrimp for them. Two more got the same dishes as an on-the-house extra.
6 more
  1. Six posts described a big room with well-spaced tables. One said it looks small from outside and turns out much larger inside.
  2. Seven posts said the staff or owner were kind; two of them describe the same June visit by the same blogger. The January post noted that the kitchen staff were from Southeast Asia.
  3. Three posts noticed many foreign diners; one in October said they far outnumbered Koreans.
  4. Two posts ordered on a tablet at the table; one added that the side dishes came out quickly while they waited for the sashimi.
  5. Seven posts said it is an easy walk from Haeundae subway station, right by Exit 5 and in the second side street. The '121 m from Exit 5' figure is copied from the same listing in several posts.
  6. One post brought its own sake and champagne because corkage is free. Another post's info box also says corkage is free except for drinks the house sells, but that line is copied from the listing.

Parking

Posts saying you can park2 of 25 posts

Eleven posts mention an hour of free parking at the nearby Hyundai or Haeseong lots, but most just copy the listing. Two actually parked that way; one said the lot charges in 15-minute steps, so running over didn't cost much. Two posts pass on hearsay that about three cars fit at the restaurant itself, and the January post says it has no lot of its own.

Getting inside

Second floor4 of 25 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 4 (of 25 posts read)

Four posts said the restaurant is on the first and second floors, so there are no stairs down to a basement. In January one visitor went upstairs and found the second floor closed, probably for winter. The same post said the tables by the ground-floor entrance filled first while the large back room stayed empty.

No one mentioned a step at the entrance, wheelchair or stroller access, or a lift to the second floor. We don't know; that is not the same as saying there isn't one.

Two posts noticed mouthwash in the restroom and one took mirror selfies in the red-and-blue retro bathroom, but none said whether it is inside the restaurant or split by gender. We don't know.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 27 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Waits are split two and two. One October visitor queued about 15 minutes; a sponsored August post walked straight in, but said a line formed right after. An October visitor at around 6 p.m. and an August holiday-season visitor had no wait at all. One post says you can join the queue through CatchTable.
  • Thirteen posts list opening hours, and twelve agree on 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. daily with last orders at midnight, mostly copied from the same listing. One August post gave 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. No post mentions a closing day.
  • Price: the basic set for two is 65,000 won in every post from January to October. One August post called it 80,000 won, which the copied menu shows as the price of the sashimi-plus-seafood set. No post gave a full bill including drinks.
  • Template posts: many September and October posts share the same info box (hours, last order, one hour of parking, 121 m from Exit 5) and list the set in identical order. Two disclose sponsorship; the others follow the same template and may be sponsored too. Six say they paid their own way.
  • One visit at the August peak found the room nearly full, not very cool despite the air conditioning, and rather hectic. It warned that anyone hoping for a calm, polished traditional sashimi restaurant may be disappointed.
  • One August post found the set just ordinary; another said it wasn't bad, but not right for people who wanted a big pile of sashimi.
  • Many posts list the phone number, 0507-1327-8765. One post booked ahead; another points to CatchTable for reservations.
