Wandduk-sundubu Busan Oncheon-jeom

완뚝순두부 부산온천점 A soft-tofu-stew house behind the Heosimcheong baths in Dongnae that never closes, serving each bowl with its own pot of stone-cooked rice.

Data as of · Published ·

Wandduk Sundubu Busan Oncheon is a soft-tofu-stew restaurant in a lane behind the Heosimcheong baths in Oncheon-dong, Dongnae, Busan. It never closes — the posts come from office workers at lunch, market shoppers in the afternoon, and people sobering up at four in the morning. You pick one of some fourteen stews and one of four heat levels; three posts quote the menu board saying the middle one is about Shin Ramyun and the hottest adds green chilli. A pot of stone-cooked rice comes with the price, and the side dishes are unlimited from a self-serve bar — twenty-five of the twenty-nine posts write about that bar. It is one of several branches around Busan. The posts we read run from January 2025 to August 2026.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

These hours are counted from the posts we read. Shops change them without notice — check Naver Place before you go. Place — check hours

What sets it apart

  1. The rice is cooked to order in a stone pot, and that costs you fifteen minutes. Nine posts give the figure (one says sixteen), and two note it drops to five at lunch when pots are already going. Only one person complains about the wait — someone arriving at three in the afternoon on an empty stomach. Everyone else spends it on the side dishes. There is a procedure: tip the rice into a bowl as soon as it lands, pour hot water into the empty pot, put the lid back, and drink the scorched-rice tea once the stew is gone. Twenty-five posts describe it, and one adds that half a pot of water makes a better crust. If you would rather not wait, they will swap it for two bowls of plain rice.
  2. Half of what gets written here is about the side dishes. Five or six arrive with the table, and anything more comes from the self-serve bar. Six posts name the acorn jelly specifically; two of those went back for it repeatedly. Two note that the toasted seaweed is not on the bar and has to be asked for. Three writers say the spread changes between visits — one found only the acorn jelly, seaweed and kimchi constant; another found braised potato where anchovies had been. A raw egg comes per person, and one party of four who only ordered three stews still got four eggs.
  3. The prices went up. One post from March 2025 copies out the whole menu: the stews were ₩10,000 for most and ₩11,000 for four of them. A post doing the same in August 2026 gives ₩11,000 and ₩12,000 — most moved up a tier, and a few (seafood, oyster, beef, kimchi-pork) moved up two. Ten thousand won still appears in an August 2025 post and twelve thousand in a September one, so the change landed somewhere in between. Even so, only one writer calls it expensive — pricey for a tofu stew, they say, though the stone-pot rice justifies it — against eight who call it good value.
  4. It is a chain, and people compare the branches. Seven posts say so, and four of those writers came here after eating at another one — Hwamyeong, Jangnim, Centum all turn up. One pinned down the difference: the Hwamyeong branch puts out extra side dishes by time of day — mini cutlets, hand-made tofu, tteokbokki, blood sausage — and they found on asking that this is peculiar to that branch. The stew, they say, tastes the same at both; only the sides differ. Another came in on the strength of their mother's memory of the Centum branch.

Parking

11 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park11 of 29 posts

There is parking, but the counts disagree. Four writers actually counted: seven or eight, about six, five or six. One says there are spaces in front and down the side and that people also use the kerb. Two say it is tight — a new driver found it hard, and another warns that the space is cramped enough to be awkward if you are inexperienced. One post says something else entirely, mentioning only a public car park nearby and nothing in front. Whether it costs anything is answered by exactly one post, which says the private lot is free — and that line comes from a copied facilities list.

Getting there

Map showing where Wandduk-sundubu Busan Oncheon-jeom is

Getting inside

Nobody says what floor it is on in their own words. The address ends in "1F" and all twenty-nine posts copy that address, but no one writes that the restaurant is at street level, and no one mentions a second room upstairs or down. There are two hints: one writer calls it a free-standing building with its own car park, and another — an estate agent — eyes the room at something over twenty pyeong. Whether there are steps, nobody says.

Nobody has looked at whether you can get in with a wheelchair. One post carries a line saying the entrance, the seating and the toilet are all wheelchair-accessible — but it sits in a copied facilities list alongside takeaway, separate toilets and wi-fi, and nothing in that post suggests the writer checked the doorway. Across the other twenty-eight, the words for wheelchair, pushchair, threshold, ramp and stairs never appear. One writer did notice a high chair by the entrance, which answers a different question.

Nobody has been to the toilet. Five posts say the toilets are separated by sex, and in all five it is one line inside a copied facilities list — the giveaway is the takeaway and wi-fi entries sitting beside it. What a post states and what its writer saw are different things. Whether the toilet is inside the restaurant or out in the building, whether it is clean, whether it is open at four in the morning in a place that never closes — not one of the twenty-nine says.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Ten posts say how far it is from the subway, and they do not agree. Four settle on Exit 5 of Oncheonjang station; two give 686 m, one says a five-minute walk, two say ten. The rest navigate by landmarks instead — behind the Heosimcheong baths, near the market, a little way in towards the noodle street. We have not been able to check which is right. Not one post explains how to come by bus.
  • Sometimes there is a queue and sometimes there is not, and the only thing that separates them is lunchtime. Three posts report waiting, all at lunch: twenty minutes (on chairs they keep outside for it), five minutes, and one who walked in to find nowhere to sit at all. Against that, one writer states flatly that a place open around the clock never has a queue, and another found a Saturday lunch nearly full but the room big enough to seat them anyway. Nobody reports waiting at night or in the small hours — the people who go then describe it as quiet.
  • Two posts flatly contradict each other about the local-currency card. A May 2025 post says Dongbaekjeon is not accepted and offers the review discounts instead — 10% for a receipt review, 20% for a blog post. A May 2026 post says it is accepted. It may have changed in the year between, or one of them may simply be wrong; we cannot tell. The review discounts are given identically by two posts from March and May 2025, and are redeemed on your next visit.
  • Not one post was written by someone who brought a child. One writer saw a high chair; one more has "high chair: yes" in a copied facilities list. Four others speculate that the mild setting or the cutlets would suit children — guesses from people who did not test them. Nobody mentions a changing table or anything to occupy a child.
