Cafe

Jeongum

정움 Jeongum is a contraction of jeongseong-euro gu-um, 'baked with care' — the meaning the shop itself gives for its name.

Compiled from 26 blog posts read in fullSources →

A baked-goods café in a side street of Millak-dong, at the left end of Gwangalli beach, on the ground floor of a converted house. Madeleines and financiers are the core, alongside petits gâteaux, coffee and tea. Posts list madeleines at 3,500–3,900 won, financiers at 3,000–3,400 and an americano at 4,500, with no sign of price changes between June 2025 and October 2026. The shop moved here from Mangmi-dong before our earliest post. We read 30 posts from 13 June 2025 to 7 October 2026; 29 describe an actual visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Eleven posts mention an outdoor terrace. Several describe its awning and potted plants; one writer says the owner wiped down a table and pulled out the awning when she worried about the sun. Another skipped the terrace on a hot day and went inside where it was cool.
  2. Seven posts mention sunlight through the windows. One writer seeks out the sun-filled window seat; another avoided it because it was too hot. Six posts call the café quiet, and two of them say it worked well for laptop work.
  3. Eight posts took food to go. They describe gift boxes, paper bags with handles and individually vacuum-sealed pieces; one writer bought three madeleines and three financiers in a small box as a leaving gift. Another was told packing would take a while and sat down to wait.
  4. Six posts say the owners or staff were kind. One writer, having paid for desserts, asked to take just the coffee and come back for the pastries later when a nearby restaurant's queue moved — and was told that was fine.
3 more
  1. Two posts say prices are reasonable and none call it expensive. One got a mini chocolate madeleine for leaving a receipt review.
  2. Two posts reserved ahead or recommend doing so: one pre-ordered a pistachio cake, another advises booking to get the flavours you want. Neither says how bookings are taken.
  3. Three posts give bus directions: get off at the former MBC stop and walk downhill past the CU store, or walk a short way from the Millak bus depot or the left end of Gwangalli beach. One post puts it 20 minutes on foot from Gwangan subway station.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 1 (of 26 posts read)

No one says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair can get in — that means we don't know, not that there isn't one. One post notes from experience that it is on the ground floor. The line about strollers and sling bags being allowed inside is the shop's pet policy, copied by bloggers.

No one says whether the restroom is inside or separated by gender. One post photographed the restroom but didn't say where it is.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 27 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Desserts sell out early. Posts describe items already gone after an early lunch, only a few left just before 3 pm, an empty cake shelf at 2:30, and a visit where the financiers were gone and only tea was left. The note that the shop closes early when it sells out is copied from its Instagram.
  • Three posts say the shop moved here from Mangmi-dong. The move predates June 2025, so we have no posts about the old shop; everything here describes the current Millak-dong café.
  • Opinions on size differ: three posts say it isn't large (one counted six two-seat tables, three on each side), one found it bigger than expected. Another counted about eight two-seaters that can be pushed together for groups.
  • Charging is split one to one: one post warns there are no power outlets, another says phone charging is provided.
  • No post mentions queuing. The recurring problem in the posts is desserts selling out, not waiting.
  • Eleven posts agree on 11:00–20:00 with Wednesdays off (one copied it as 'daily' with no closing day). One writer turned up on a closing day, and the shop is said to close early once desserts run out.
  • Two posts copy the phone number 0507-1313-1470. No one says whether the shop takes reservations or orders by phone.
  • One post (June 2025) disclosed sponsorship, and one reads like a promotional template, so we didn't count its claims. The 'five-star hotel pastry chef' and 'French butter and Valrhona chocolate' lines appear in many posts but are the shop's own marketing, so we don't rely on them.
