Hone

호네 Hone is the Japanese word for bone; none of the posts explains the name.

Compiled from 13 blog posts read in fullSources →

Hone is a charcoal fish-grill restaurant in an alley behind the Sealand raw-fish centre in Millak-dong, Suyeong-gu, Busan. It grills mackerel, sablefish, hairtail and Spanish mackerel over charcoal and serves them as sets with side dishes, soup and rice; in summer it adds cold noodles such as green-tangerine mackerel soba and Kyoto matcha soba. Prices in the posts: mackerel set 15,000-16,000 won, sablefish set 23,000 won, matcha soba 12,000 won, tangerine mackerel soba 15,000 won, plus 3,000 won for pot rice or 5,000 won for vegetable pot rice. We read 27 posts dated 19 June to 24 September 2026; 13 of them (19 June to 21 August) describe a visit. Thirteen were about the similarly named bakery Bake Hone in Mangmi-dong or other nearby places and were set aside, and one only lists the restaurant without visiting.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Six posts give the same number: four cars. One adds that it is free.
  2. Solo diners are catered for: eight posts describe a counter alongside regular tables. Posts mention six-, four- and two-seat tables, roughly six tables in all, and a group table for up to eight.
  3. The grilling happens in view: five posts watched the fish cooking over charcoal through the open kitchen, and one notes the counter seats give a front-row view.
  4. Six posts say the fish was not fishy, including the grilled mackerel served on cold soba. A family of eight did note that the charcoal smoke clings slightly to clothes.

  1. Three posts saw high chairs. A family of five adults and three children say the kids each finished a bowl of rice with the deboned fish, and another child had the cold udon.

Parking

8 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park8 of 13 posts

Unusually for Gwangalli, you can park right in front. Eight posts mention parking outside the door, and one visitor with a friend simply parked there. One post warns the alley leaves little room, and another that spaces may run short at busy times. Two posts about the nearby izakaya Mut say its customers can also use the spots in front of Hone, so the two places share them.

Where it is

Map showing where Hone is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

No post describes which floor the restaurant is on from experience; only the address says ground floor.

No post says whether there is a step at the door or whether anyone entered with a wheelchair or stroller. One post copied a facilities list that says seats are wheelchair-accessible, but that is the restaurant's own listing, so we did not count it. This means nobody reported it, not that access is lacking.

No post says where the toilet is. Separate men's and women's toilets appear only in a copied facilities list.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 14 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No post describes arriving by subway or bus. One copies directions from Gwangan Station (Line 2, exits 3 and 5) along the beach, and bus 210 to the Jinro Beach Apartment stop. One local walked there.
  • No post reports queuing. One found tables already occupied at an early lunch, and one booked ahead. We do not know how long the wait is at busy times.
  • Opening hours: twelve visit posts give 11:00-21:00 and ten of them say closed on Wednesdays, but all copy the restaurant's listing. The break time varies: eight posts say 15:00-16:30, two from July say 15:00-16:00. Several say there is no break at weekends; last orders are 20:00, and 14:30 for lunch. A September roundup says open every day, but it is not a visit and disagrees with the rest.
  • Prices come from June-July 2026 posts; none after August gives one. The mackerel set is 15,000 won in a 19 June post and 16,000 won in a 4 July post. The assorted grill appears as 50,000 won for two in one post and 20,500 won (two or more) copied from the menu in another, so we cannot tell if the latter is per person. The 20% discount for soldiers, police and firefighters, the birthday seaweed soup and the ice cream for a receipt review are the restaurant's own offers, repeated by several posts.
  • Seven posts copy the phone number 010-9742-7782. Several say bookings are taken through CatchTable, but only one post actually booked.
  • Several June-July posts share the same hashtag block, the same directions ('behind Sealand raw-fish centre, between Eunhae Galchi and Hamo') and the same list of side dishes. Two disclose sponsorship; the others do not, but they may be part of the same promotional batch.
