Raw fishKorean

Samsam Hoetjip

삼삼횟집 Hoetjip means a raw-fish restaurant; the posts give no meaning for samsam, which can be read as 'three-three'.

Compiled from 7 blog posts read in fullSources →

A raw-fish restaurant in the basement of the Millak seafood market building on Gwangalli beach. You order sashimi one portion per person, three seasonal fish arrive in turn, you lay them on balls of sushi rice, and finish with a clear fish soup. The four posts that give prices all say 28,000 won per person; one couple paid 86,000 won for two portions plus rice, soup and three bottles of soju. We read 30 posts from November 2025 to October 2026; 8 are about this place (November 2025 to July 2026) and 7 describe actually eating here.

What sets it apart

  1. There are no free side dishes. Two posts say so outright: nothing but fish. What reaches the table is lettuce, perilla, garlic, chilli, dipping sauces and a house ssamjang, then the fish. Several posts list mullet, skin-scalded red sea bream and flatfish in that order, and one says you can ask for a particular fish.
  2. A place people come back to. Four posts describe repeat visits: one writer has come with family since primary school, one comes every trip to Busan, one was greeted with 'why has it been so long?'. One notes that on an off-season weekday evening most guests were long-time regulars.
  3. Seating is four-person tables. Two posts mention it, counting about ten and about eight tables respectively.

These are raw counts, not percentages. Someone who did not mention something is not someone who disagreed.

The most ordered dish is saengseonhoe (생선회) — 6 of 7 posts.

The prices here are what bloggers wrote down in their posts, and they may have changed since. Check Naver Place for the current menu and prices. This list is not a menu board — it counts what bloggers actually ordered and ate. Check on Naver Place

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

In a basement6 of 7 posts

It is underground. Six of the seven visit posts say you walk down stairs to a basement. The ground floor is the Millak seafood market, and since another restaurant shares the name, one post points out that of the two that come up in a search, this is the one you go downstairs to.

No one wrote about steps at the door or wheelchair or pushchair access. Posts mention stairs down to the basement but say nothing of a lift, which means no one wrote about one, not that there isn't one.

No one wrote about where the toilet is or whether it is separated by sex.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 8 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Whether you can bring fish bought at the market upstairs seems to have changed. A March 2026 post paid upstairs and had it cut here; an April 2026 post says this is no longer allowed. That rests on two posts, so check before you go.
  • Another restaurant has the same name. An April 2026 post says the original owner moved elsewhere and the head cook who worked beside him still cuts the fish here; another warns that many places are called Samsam and they are not a chain. We do not know when the change happened.
  • Prices come from posts that copied the menu. One lists the clear soup in small and large sizes, another gives separate prices for clear and spicy soup. Posts disagree on whether the sushi rice comes by default or is charged per plate. No one has recorded prices after April 2026.
  • Two posts give the same opening hours, noon to 10 pm, but both copied them into an info line. One says it never closes, adding that you should call to check; a May 2026 post found it shut that day and went elsewhere.
  • Phone numbers differ between posts: two November 2025 posts give different numbers (one as a reservations line), and an April 2026 post found no number on Naver. Nobody wrote about actually booking.
  • No one described getting here by subway or bus; posts only place it near Gwangalli beach, just behind the Millak raw-fish market.
  • No post mentions waiting. One describes a quiet off-season weekday evening; we don't know about weekends or high season.
  • Who people came with doesn't settle into a pattern: one post each with family, a spouse and friends.
