Grill houseKorean

Chongye Sutbul Chondakgui

촌계숯불촌닭구이 Chongye reads as 'country chicken' (chon, village, + gye, chicken), and the full name means 'country chicken grilled over charcoal' — the house serves native Korean chicken (tojongdak) grilled on charcoal.

Compiled from 16 blog posts read in fullSources →

A native-chicken charcoal grill in a residential-tower arcade in Millak-dong, Suyeong-gu, Busan, near the Gwangalli waterfront park. You pick salt, soy or spicy, order a half or whole bird and grill it over charcoal at the table; five posts ordered the 'everything but the head' set (half bird, gizzards, boneless chicken feet), and seven finished with chicken porridge. Prices are rarely given: a half bird in salt at 35,000 won (April 2026) and a whole bird split two ways at 49,000 won (January 2025), one post each. We read 16 posts from January 2025 to August 2026, all of them actual visits. Five went with family, four with friends.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. They grill for you. Ten of the 16 posts say staff or the owner grilled the chicken at the table, one adding that they deboned it too, another that soy-flavored pieces were seared, re-sauced and grilled again. Three posts say it was only at the start or just a helping hand, and two put it down to a quiet night, a diner in a cast, or the late hour.
  2. The birds are big. Six posts call the portions large: one whole bird stuffed two people, and a couple was overfull after the set. One post found the set plus porridge and ramyeon just right for three.
  3. Four posts say there was no gamey smell, in the meat, the gizzards and the feet; one says not even in the raw chicken. No post reports any off smell.
  4. The spicy marinade and the chicken-feet sauce are hot. Six posts say so, including a self-declared spice lover who called it brutally hot. One found the feet only mildly spicy. These are separate from the three standard dips (curry powder, a mild hot sauce, garlic oil).

Parking

2 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park2 of 16 posts

Parking is in the building's garage. Two posts parked there; one says the restaurant is right there when you come up. A claim of two free hours is secondhand, so we did not count it. Other parking mentions are copied listing info.

Getting inside

Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 16 posts read)

No post describes the floor or any stairs from experience. The address says ground floor, and one post says it is right there when you come up from the garage.

No one mentions a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. That means we don't know, not that there is none.

One post says you use the arcade's shared restroom, not one inside the restaurant, with a door code posted. Separate men's and women's restrooms appear only in copied listing info, so we did not count it.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • No post describes getting there by subway or bus; bus numbers 41, 83 and 210 appear only in one copied info block. One post says it is a bit of a walk from the main Gwangalli strip.
  • No post reports waiting. One walked straight in around 8 pm on a Saturday with the room more than half full; others note crowds on Chobok day or soon after opening. That is not proof there is never a line, only that no one wrote about standing in one.
  • Nine posts list the same hours, daily 16:00 to 01:00 with last order at midnight, all copied from listing info. None mentions a closing day.
  • Prices are scarce, and no post gives the set price. Chicken porridge is 2,000 won in two posts (Jan 2025, Apr 2026) and 3,000 won in two (Nov 2025, Jan 2026); the split doesn't follow the dates, so we can't tell whether it went up. One post called the 35,000-won half bird not cheap, and another said friends balked at the price.
  • Seven posts list the phone number 0507-1406-0542, and copied info says bookings are taken, but no post describes actually phoning to reserve.
