Raw fishBar

Cheombeong

첨벙 Cheombeong is the Korean sound of something splashing into water — one post notes the deep-blue, wave-patterned interior plays on the name.

Compiled from 21 blog posts read in fullSources →

Cheombeong is an aged-sashimi house at 16 Millak-ro 33beon-gil, ground floor, a short walk into the Millak-dong alleys from Gwangalli Beach. A small assorted platter (for 2–3) comes as a full spread — barley bibimbap, tempura, sushi rice and laver, and a spicy fish stew — and you wrap the fish or shape your own sushi. It is a drinking-hours place: 5 p.m. (4 p.m. on weekends) to 1 a.m. The current shop moved a few years ago from a cramped spot at the Dongbang intersection. We read 30 posts dated June 25 to October 16, 2026; 21 describe an actual meal. We set aside 5 that were about other businesses (a cake café upstairs, other Cheombeong branches) and did not count 4 multi-restaurant listicles.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Waits depend on the day and hour. Eight posts waited and two walked straight in. One joined the CatchTable queue at 5 p.m. on a Saturday and was seated around 6:30; another queued ninth at 7:20 p.m. on a weekend and got in at 9:46; a third saw 49 parties queued at 6:30 p.m. on a Saturday. One waited only five minutes. The two walk-ins came around 7 p.m. on a Monday and 9 p.m. on a Thursday. One more sat down at 5:30 on a Sunday and watched the queue reach 14 parties soon after. Most people queue remotely through CatchTable.
  2. There is somewhere to sit outside: four posts mention chairs, a bench or seating in front of the shop.
  3. Thickness is the most repeated point: 12 of the 21 meal posts say the fish is cut thick. One adds that the platter looks modest in photos but fills you up because of the thickness and the sides.
  4. Nine posts call the included tempura crisp. Three say staff cut the eel at the table; one heard the crunch as it was sliced.
4 more
  1. Six posts say a bowl of shrimp-chip-style crackers arrives as soon as you sit down.
  2. Five posts order from a tablet or kiosk at the table, where a card also explains each side dish and how to eat it.
  3. Seven posts went with friends, five with a partner or spouse, and two in groups of four or more; three came here as a second stop of the night.
  4. Five posts are return visits; one of them felt it was not as good as it used to be. One post said it would not return.

Map showing where Cheombeong is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

No post describes the floor from experience; '1st floor' appears only in the address. This means nobody wrote about it, not that there is an issue.

No post mentions an entrance step or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. We do not know.

Only one post mentions the restroom — inside the building and not dirty — so we cannot say whether it is inside the shop itself. Separate men's and women's rooms appear only in copied listing text.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 25 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Two posts report slow or missed items: one weekend table had to ask two or three times each for a highball, soy sauce and the stew (while calling the staff polite), and another thought its salmon roll had been forgotten. Three posts call the staff friendly.
  • Opinions on size split: four posts found it roomy, two said it is smaller than expected, and one said not huge but with plenty of seats; one notes mostly four-person tables. One post warns it is not a quiet place to talk.
  • One post saw a notice that tables are limited to two hours when the queue is long; no other post mentions it.
  • The shop has moved: four posts say it relocated from a cramped spot at the Dongbang intersection, some years ago. All posts we read are about the current shop, so nothing from the old one is mixed in; memories of two-hour weekend queues there are not counted. Two returning visitors note the set used to include cup ramen and doenjang stew and now comes with barley bibimbap and fried eel.
  • Prices disagree across posts: the small platter appears at 58,000 won (October), 68,000 (September) and 87,000 (one August post), and a platter-plus-salmon-roll set at 76,000 on a July receipt. We cannot tell whether these are different items or a price change. Two posts say it is not cheap without going further; one calls it good value. Two mention a free highball for posting a receipt review.
  • Fourteen posts give the same hours — weekdays 5 p.m.–1 a.m., weekends 4 p.m.–1 a.m., last order midnight — mostly copied from the listing. None names a closing day; one copies a note that days off vary.
  • Nine posts list the phone as 0507-1341-9154; one gives 010-6283-4930. One post relays that CatchTable takes reservations Monday to Thursday, but nobody actually booked — everyone used the remote queue.
  • No post describes arriving by subway or bus; 'a 10–15 minute walk from Gwangan Station' is copied directions.
  • We did not count four listicles, three of them from one blog using the same template. One post discloses sponsorship.
