Bar

Better Than Bottle

베러댄보틀 Beoreodaenboteul An English phrase, 'better than bottle'; no post explains the name.

Compiled from 7 blog posts read in fullSources →

Better Than Bottle is a wine shop with a bar, at 66 Gwanganhaebyeon-ro 277beon-gil in Millak-dong, Suyeong-gu, Busan, near Dongbang junction. Most people come to buy bottles. On days the bar is open, you can book a seat and drink wine by the glass (poured with a Coravin) or by the bottle. The kitchen does no cooking, just Maison Jo charcuterie, cheese and crackers, and all three posts that sat at the bar brought in food from outside or had it delivered. A December 2025 magazine piece says the shop moved to this space 'last year' and added the bar then. We read 9 posts, from December 2024 to September 2026. Seven describe a visit, one is a magazine feature, and one was about a different restaurant, so we set it aside.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. You bring your own food. All three posts that sat at the bar ate something from outside: a ham, brie and apple jambon-beurre from a nearby bakery, another jambon-beurre from a local grocer, and Mom's Touch fried chicken with a Papa John's pizza. One writer says the staff sliced the sandwich and plated it for them. Two posts say the food should not have a strong smell.
  2. Book before you go to the bar. Two posts say reservations go through CatchTable. One says booking is a must because there are only bar seats, and that the bar does not open every day, so check Instagram or CatchTable first. The other says same-day bookings are taken up to three hours ahead. We did not count the bar hours (from 4 pm on weekdays, 2 pm on weekends) because that writer only heard them.
  3. Three posts say the owner was kind. One calls him really warm. Another showed him photos of wines they had shared with the person they were buying for, and he found the same grape at a sensible gift price. The two posts that drank at the bar say each pour came with an explanation of the producer and how the wine is made. One post lists the owner's sommelier competition titles, but those come from the shop, so we did not count them.
  4. Three posts describe going back: one had bought wine there several times before first trying the bar, one returned a few days later for more wine and pâté, and one stopped in twice during a two-day trip to Busan.

Map showing where Better Than Bottle is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

No post describes what floor the shop is on or any stairs; only the address says ground floor. That means nobody mentioned it, not that there is nothing to know.

Nobody mentioned whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in.

Nobody mentioned where the toilet is or whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 8 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • A December 2025 article says the shop moved to its current space 'last year' and has run as a shop and bar since. A November 2025 post likewise says the move added a bar. No post gives the old address, and every visit we read is checked in at the current one.
  • We know very little about prices. One post says the cheapest bottles run 20,000-30,000 won and that Maison Jo charcuterie costs 12,000-13,000 won to take away. Nobody gave the price of a glass or what they spent at the bar. One post calls the prices reasonable. Another hedges without really deciding.
  • Two posts list the same opening hours, Monday to Saturday 12:00-21:00 and closed Sundays, but both copied them from the shop's listing. One post says the bar keeps its own days and is not open every day.
  • Only one post covers getting there. It recommends the bus over the subway, and the directions it copied say it is a 10-15 minute walk from Gwangan station (Line 2) or Suyeong station (Lines 2 and 3).
  • No post mentions waiting. That means nobody wrote about it, not that there is never a wait.
  • We can't say who this place suits best. One post shared bottles at the bar with a group of friends, and others came to buy wine with a husband, a boyfriend or visiting friends, but no two posts say the same thing.
  • The only phone number is 0507-1365-0510, which one post copied from the listing. Two posts say bar bookings go through CatchTable.
