Daega Hoetjip

대가횟집 Daega is written 大家 on the sign, 'great house' or 'master', and hoetjip means a raw-fish restaurant.

Compiled from 17 blog posts read in fullSources →

Daega Hoetjip is a conger-eel (anago) restaurant on the Chilam eel street in Ilgwang, Gijang, Busan, right in front of Chilam harbour. Thirteen of the seventeen visit posts ordered the two-person set of raw conger eel plus grilled eel (60,000 won); there is also cold raw-fish soup (20,000 won) and raw-fish rice bowl (20,000 won), and a spicy fish stew (4,000 won) is ordered separately after the set. It now occupies a rebuilt two-storey building: six posts explain that the first floor is where you grill the eel yourself and the second floor is where it arrives grilled. A post from December 2024, before the rebuild, describes a single-storey place where charcoal was brought to the table. We read thirty posts from December 2024 to October 2026. Three were about other places and were set aside; ten ate delivery or takeaway at home or listed the place in a multi-stop itinerary, so we did not count them as visits.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. On the second floor the eel comes out already grilled. Eleven posts say their grilled eel arrived cooked. Six posts explain that the first floor is for grilling at the table and the second floor serves oven-grilled eel, and some first-floor diners also ordered it cooked ("grill it for us, please"). Only one post, from December 2024 before the rebuild, says charcoal was brought to the table after the raw eel.
  2. No post says it waited for a table. Three posts that arrived at 1 pm on a weekday, 1 pm on a Sunday and 1:30 pm found plenty of seats. One post says weekends and holidays mean waiting to get in, but it is a sponsored post that arrived at the 11 am opening, so we did not count it as a wait experienced.
  3. Many posts call it clean because the building is new. Twelve posts say so, several pointing to the rebuild. The December 2024 post, before the rebuild, also called the interior very tidy. Two posts note that swallows returned to nest in the new building and the shop put up a sign pointing to the nest.
  4. Three posts went with a child and wrote about what the child ate: seaweed soup comes with the sides so there was no worry about feeding the child; staff brought extra corn and fried shrimp when they saw the child; the child happily ate the soft raw eel. One post saw a high chair.

Parking

7 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park7 of 17 posts

Parking is in front of the shop or in the Chilam harbour car park. Seven posts parked and wrote about it. One says to use the harbour lot opposite when the front is full, and another says that lot has no barrier and is free anywhere. Two posts say they drove.

Getting inside

Second floor13 of 17 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 4 (of 17 posts read)
Toilet inside1 of 17 posts
Separate restrooms1 of 17 posts

The sea view is from the second-floor windows. Thirteen posts mention the second floor. Two say the window seats there were already booked or should be reserved ahead, and five mention private rooms. Four posts sat on the ground floor; none mentions a basement. The post saying the old building was single-storey with no upstairs view is a sponsored one.

No post describes the entrance step or getting in with a wheelchair or pushchair. One post's info header says wheelchairs and pushchairs can get in, but that is copied information and we did not count it. No one says whether there is a lift or only stairs to the second floor; that means we don't know, not that there isn't one.

One post describes the toilet: on the first floor beside the kitchen, separate for men and women, one stall each, clean but with a slight fishy smell; it adds that there is a public toilet by the car park. No one wrote about a second-floor toilet.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 27 posts we gathered, 10 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No post went by train or bus, so we don't know how practical public transport is.
  • Prices are rising. The menu in a post of 22 September 2026 shows raw conger eel for two at 50,000 won; a post of 27 October 2026 says it went up by 10,000 to 60,000 won. The two-person set stayed at 60,000 won in both. Two October posts saw a notice of a price rise from 1 January 2027, but no one has recorded the new prices yet. Three posts called the prices reasonable.
  • Eight posts from 1 to 28 September 2026 carry the same Coupang link for the 200 g delivery kit and the same block of hashtags, which looks like promotion for the delivery product. Those that ate the kit at home are not counted as visits. Two posts disclose sponsorship; five say they paid themselves.
  • Twelve posts give the same hours, 11:00 to 20:00; nine give last order at 19:00 and eleven say closed on Mondays. All of it is copied from info blocks. Three posts write "daily" alongside the Monday closure, so it reads as Tuesday to Sunday. The December 2024 post adds that it may close early when ingredients run out. The phone number is 051-727-0991, and several posts copy that bookings are taken by phone.
