HAUTE

카페오뜨 광안비치점 Cafe Otteu Gwanganbeach-jeom A three-level ocean-view cafe across the road from Gwangalli beach, where the glass wall faces Gwangan Bridge head-on and the cakes are all one price.

Data as of · Published ·

Cafe Haute's Gwangan Beach branch takes up two indoor floors and a rooftop above a convenience store, directly across the road from Gwangalli beach. You climb a flight of steps from the seafront, order and pay at a kiosk just inside, and choose from coffee, tea, ades and smoothies plus a long case of cakes sold by the slice, all at one price whatever the flavour. Almost everyone comes for the same thing: Gwangan Bridge, head-on, through a wall of glass. The writing bears that out — people describe the view and the seat before they describe the food. The posts we read run from June 2025 to September 2026.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

These hours are counted from the posts we read. Shops change them without notice — check Naver Place before you go. Place — check hours

What sets it apart

  1. Getting a window seat is what most of these posts are really about. Six writers arrived to find the window line already taken — on a Monday afternoon, and even on Lunar New Year's Day. Every one of them adds the same consolation: the glass is so wide, and the seating so squarely aimed at the water, that the bridge is still there from a table further in. On mild days the windows are slid open altogether. Three writers who came on a weekday found the room half empty.
  2. There is a rooftop, but hardly anyone stays on it. Most writers climb up, take a photograph and come back down: one because of the heat, one because the rain turned cold, one because the chairs and tables were under a layer of dust. The exception is a writer who loved the terrace in the rain and sat there alone until the owner came up to close it as the downpour got heavier. It is a seat you go up to only if the weather is with you.
  3. The same posts call it expensive and then explain why that is fine. Five writers flag the prices; four of those answer themselves in the next breath — you are paying for the ocean, you are renting the seat. Two others thought it fair for a beachfront. What divides them is not the number on the board but whether the view counts as something you bought.
  4. You order and you clear. The kiosk stands at the top of the entrance stairs; you pick, pay first, and get a text or KakaoTalk message when the drink is ready. One writer found it a nuisance that the empty glasses have to be carried back down to the second floor on their tray. Another noted a one-drink-per-person rule.
  5. One wall and a pillar are covered in signed celebrity boards. Four writers noticed them, and several take it as proof the place is well known. Not one of them names a single signature.
  6. One writer says outright that the food is not the reason to come — not that the drinks or cakes are especially good, but that the bridge is. The same post then praises the strawberry cake for its soft sponge and light cream. Several others call the cakes the best thing here. The verdict does not settle.
  7. Both floors are large and the seating is mixed — terrace chairs, tables for four, sofas, long tables for six or eight, laid out differently on each level. The third floor is wider, higher-ceilinged and unobstructed, and several writers tell you to go straight up. One complains about a utility pole standing in the second-floor view. Two mention a separate room upstairs for people who want quiet.
  8. A fair number are return visits. Six writers say they had been before; one has been dropping in since university, another simply titles the post "nth visit". The posts mix Busan residents with travellers passing through.

Getting inside

Second floor22 of 25 posts
Lift to the flooryes 0 · no 1 (of 25 posts read)
Toilet inside2 of 25 posts

Nobody wrote about getting in with a wheelchair or a pushchair. Across twenty-five posts the words wheelchair, pushchair, ramp and threshold never appear once. Here is all we know: the entrance is up a flight of steps from the seafront, and one writer states that there is no lift, so you walk up. The upper floors are stairs too. How many steps, whether there is a lip at the door, what is possible once you are inside — we do not know.

The toilets are on the third floor only. Two writers say so, one of them spelling out that the second floor has none. If you are seated downstairs, it means a flight of stairs each time.

We could not confirm whether the toilets are separated by sex. Five posts contain the phrase, but all five carry it inside the same copied block — pets welcome, takeaway, delivery, wi-fi, separate toilets. The only first-hand observation about the toilets is that they are on the third floor. For the same reason, nobody writes about actually bringing a dog — the listing says it is allowed, and that is all.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 27 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Not one post describes queueing. No one put their name down, took a ticket, or walked back out for want of a seat. What waiting there is takes another shape: a writer who lingered for a window table, gave up and sat further in; one who called the scramble for seats fierce; one who spotted an empty table from across the road and ran up the moment the light changed. How long the wait runs on a summer weekend evening, we do not know.
  • Only one writer explains how to get here without a car: about ten minutes on foot from exit 5 at Gwangan station. The rest mostly wandered in off the beach — several describe walking the seafront, deciding that must be the ocean-view cafe, and climbing the steps. Nobody writes about buses, or about coming from any other station.
  • Not a single post declares a sponsorship. Seven state plainly that they paid; the rest say nothing either way. One writer's drink was bought by the friend she came with — not a comp — and one describes the owner topping up her drink, warm, while she sat alone on the terrace in the rain. The twenty-five posts we read were written by twenty-three people: two bloggers appear twice.
  • Come in the evening and the cake case may be picked over. Three writers arrived late to find a lot sold out — one after work, one who put it simply: went a bit late, not much dessert left. At what hour it starts thinning out, nobody says.
  • Writers count the floors differently. Most call it floors two and three plus a rooftop; some write "floors two to four"; some keep the indoor rooms as two and three and name the rooftop the fourth; at least two simply call the first room you reach the ground floor and the one above it the second. The registered address says floors two to three. When you read someone else's post here, check which floor their "third floor" means.
