Jangssi Haenyeojip

장씨해녀집 Jangssi Haenyeojip reads 'the Jang family's haenyeo house' — haenyeo are the women free-divers of Korea's coast.

Compiled from 15 blog posts read in fullSources →

A two-storey seafood house on the waterfront at Yeonhwa-ri, Gijang, across from the haenyeo tent stalls. The core is a mixed platter of abalone, sea squirt, sea cucumber, spoon worm, conch and live octopus (35,000 won small) or the Bada Hana set that adds sliced fish and steamed scallops (55,000 won for two), finished with abalone porridge (12,000 won a portion, two minimum) or haenyeobap (35,000 won). Four posts came here because the tent stalls were shut that day. We read 30 posts dated 16 January to 19 October 2026 and counted 16 as visits.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. A bowl of mussel soup arrives before anything else. Nine posts describe free sides of mussel soup, gosiraegi seaweed and acorn jelly; two mention a steel bowl heaped with mussels.
  2. Waits depend on when you come. The two diners who waited report 20 minutes and 10 minutes (five groups ahead); the two who walked straight in came at 6 and 7 p.m. on weekdays. Two posts say the queue runs on Tabling, on site or remotely, and two booked ahead — one via Catchtable, one by phone — to get a window seat upstairs.
  3. Three visits were with family (parents, a family of four, a mother with two children), two with friends, two as couples, one alone. The family with children found high chairs; the kids ate the octopus and the porridge.

Posts saying you can park5 of 15 posts

Five posts parked here. There are bays in front of the restaurant and a free public lot along the seafront opposite. One weekend visitor found the front full and had to hunt nearby; another found plenty of room. Three came by public transport: bus 100 or 181 from Haeundae (about 40 minutes), a 50-minute bus from Haeundae station, and the Donghae line to Osiria followed by the on-demand Tabara minivan.

Getting inside

Second floor12 of 15 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 3 (of 15 posts read)
Toilet inside1 of 15 posts

The sea view is upstairs. Twelve of the 16 visits mention the second floor, seven say they saw the sea through the window, and six sat on or saw the outdoor terrace. Two found the terrace full; one, in high summer, says the wind and heat on the terrace wore them out. The one diner seated downstairs at 7 p.m. on a weekday says the upstairs window seats were already taken.

Three posts sat on or described the ground floor, so it is not a basement. Nobody says whether the way up to the second floor is stairs only or whether there is a lift.

We do not know whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or pushchair can get in. Nobody wrote about it — that is not the same as saying there is none.

Only one post says the toilet is inside the restaurant, as a point in its favour over the tent stalls. Nobody mentions whether it is separated by sex or how big it is.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 14 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-10-1910 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Opinions on value split. One post calls it cheap and generous; two say the value was not remarkable or that they could not tell if it was cheap. One post found the small platter about 5,000 won dearer than at the tent stalls. Three call the portions large, one says not lavish but enough for two. Bada Hana plus two portions of porridge comes to 79,000 won for two.
  • Seven visit posts copy the opening hours; six agree on 9:00 a.m. to 8:20 p.m. daily with last orders at 8:00. One lists closing at 9:00 p.m. and was told on a Saturday night that the upstairs closes around 8. Two say there is no regular day off. All of this is copied rather than observed, so check before going.
  • Three posts give the phone number 0507-1482-2427; one gives 051-721-2425. One diner booked by phone and one through Catchtable.
  • Twelve of the 30 posts repeat the same phrases in the same order — ten went up on 19 October 2026 alone — mentioning a central location, free parking, floor and couple seating and a 'sea set', with no prices at all. We did not count them. One post that discloses sponsorship, and another in the same style, include first-hand detail and were counted.
