Gijang Wonjo Susan Hoetjip

기장원조수산횟집 Gijang is the seaside town it stands in; wonjo means 'the original', susan means seafood, and hoetjip is a raw-fish restaurant.

Compiled from 2 blog posts read in fullSources →

An eel-grilling house right on the Gijang coastal road (Gijang-haean-ro 878). It is called a raw-fish restaurant, but both posts we read ordered a kilo of grilled eel, and the July 2025 post noted there was no raw fish on the menu at all. The eel comes pre-grilled and you finish it over charcoal; that post paid 48,000 won per kilo. We read 2 posts, from July 2025 to September 2026, and both describe actual visits.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. The eel arrives already par-grilled; both posts say so. One says it is browned right through, so it needs only a moment more over the coals; the other says the owner explained how to eat it at the start.
  2. Besides indoor tables there is tented outdoor seating. One post sat in the tent, street-stall style, and found the sea breeze cooler than air conditioning; four or five cats came by, and there is a request not to feed them. The other post describes a main building and an annex, with the sea visible through the annex windows.

Posts saying you can park2 of 2 posts

Easy to reach by car: both posts found parking simple, one using the spaces directly in front of and beside the restaurant, the other calling the lot roomy. Nobody said how many cars it holds.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

No post says which floor the seating is on; we only know there is a main building and an annex.

Nobody wrote about steps at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in.

We don't know whether the toilet is inside. One post copied 'separate men's and women's toilets' from an info block, which we didn't count.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Prices come from a single July 2025 post (eel 48,000 won per kilo, soybean stew 5,000, soju and beer 4,000 each). The September 2026 post gave no price for the eel or the seafood platter, and the abalone prices it lists were copied from a menu. We can't confirm what a meal costs now.
  • Both posts give the same hours, 10:30 to 20:00 with last orders at 18:30, and one says it closes every Tuesday. Both copied this from an info block, though, so nobody checked it in person.
  • The phone number 0507-1340-2845 and the note that reservations are taken were both copied from info blocks; no post says they actually booked.
  • We don't know how it works by public transport. One post copied the nearby bus stop name, but nobody went by bus or train; one post drove there.
  • We don't know about waits. One post had earlier noticed the place was always busy, but no one wrote about waiting for a table. That means nobody mentioned it, not that there is none.
  • The posts say little about who they went with. One drove out for the trip; the other only noted that most other tables were groups of older adults.
