Westside is a dessert cafe in Daeyeon-dong, Nam-gu, Busan — a few minutes' walk from exit 1 at Kyungsung University·Pukyong National University station, down a lane by Pukyong's back gate. It occupies the ground floor of a two-storey house. Donuts and salt breads are baked on site; the one people come for is the wakppu salt bread, sheathed in white chocolate. You order at a kiosk, and everyone must buy a drink. Noon to half past ten on weekdays, from ten on weekends. There is no car park. The posts we read run from March to September 2026.

What sets it apart
- Everything goes through the kiosk — thirteen posts say so and none says otherwise. You look at the case first, then choose at the screen beside it. One writer likes being able to take her time without anyone watching; another simply tells readers the drink list is only on the screen. Four note that every person must order a drink.
- Nine posts describe the terrace: a white-fenced strip with rattan and camping chairs under a red-striped awning. It is small — one writer counts two tables, another says it seats about two parties, and a third found it full on a fine day and went inside. One notes that a fair number of customers pick the outdoor seats when the weather holds.
- Eleven arrived on foot. Three give the distance as 320 metres from exit 1; five give a walking time, and the times disagree — three, four, five, six, ten minutes — presumably measured from different points. The landmarks agree: come out of exit 1, take the lane past the KFC or the Kyobo stationers, turn at Jasmine Coffee, and you are at Pukyong's back gate. Two admit that, this far down the lane, they wondered if they had the right place. Nobody came by bus.
- Two call it roomy, two call it small. Both counts agree on about eight tables indoors: one writer adds the outdoor tables and calls it ample, another says it is not big although the tables are spaced. The one who brought a pram puts it between the two — the gaps are not wide, but there was somewhere to park the buggy. Only those two counted the tables at all.
- One person brought a dog, and she is the only one who learned the indoor rule: inside, the dog stays in its carrier. Seven more posts carry the words 'pets welcome', but mostly as copied listing text, so we left them out. Separately, four writers noticed posters at the door and on the wall about fostering and adopting rescued dogs — one mentions a QR code, another that three dogs were in foster care at the time.
- Nobody calls it dear. Of the four who discuss price, two say it is reasonable and two simply copy the numbers down. The cheapest item recorded is the Shanghai butter tteok at ₩2,500, the dearest a matcha gateau at ₩8,000. One writer did find the butter tteok pricey — elsewhere, she says, ₩2,000 is the ceiling — but she only ever had it delivered, so her post sits outside the count.
- Twelve say they will come back, and they are specific about what for: the wakppu salt bread they found sold out, a donut flavour they have not tried, the Shanghai butter tteok, the terrace table. Three actually did return and wrote it up — one who first met the place through a delivery order, one who had liked it once before, and one who came back alone to somewhere she had been with a friend.
- Video runs on the wall all the time — three writers mention it: a projector beam, moody clips with music, foreign footage. One calls the place less a cafe than a small cultural space; another describes American DJs on screen and a beat thumping through the room. Three others call it quiet, but they are talking about two in the afternoon, about the lane outside, and about being able to hold a conversation — so how loud it is seems to depend on when you go.
- One post reports a socket at every seat, and calls it handy for getting a bit of work done. Nobody actually studied or opened a laptop here, and no post mentions a time limit or any rule about seats.
- Two came with a baby, and both report the absence of equipment rather than its presence. One found no high chair and chose a soft sofa seat instead; the other carried the pram up the steps. No post mentions a changing table.

There is no car park, and the three people who drove each left the car somewhere different: a private lot nearby, the Seongjeon lot at ₩3,000 an hour, and the university's own lot. Two posts mention that you can maybe pull in briefly at the studio building to the left of the shop — both hedge it, and nobody actually did. Three writers say the lane is narrow.

Only one person looked at the doorway with her own eyes. In May 2026 she arrived with a pram and found steps at the entrance — she had to carry it up, though she adds there were only a few and they were low. The other twenty-six posts say nothing at all about steps, ramps or thresholds. Several carry a stock line about wheelchair access, but that is lifted from the venue's listing, so we did not count it. Whether a wheelchair can get in, we do not know.

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Three people saw the toilet; one says with her own eyes that it is split by sex. All three place it inside the shop, and two of them were mostly taken with the lighting and the posters — good for a mirror shot. Four more posts carry the line 'separate men's and women's', but it sits in a row with wifi, reservations and pets, so it is copied from the listing and we did not count it. How many stalls, how big, where the basin is: nobody writes it down.
- Nobody reports queuing. What they report instead is running out: three posts found something sold out, and all three wanted the wakppu salt bread — one of them arrived in the morning and still missed it. One writer found customers still arriving at nine at night, one found every seat indoors and on the terrace taken, one advises turning up at opening because peak hours leave nothing free. Against that, one went at two in the afternoon and had a quiet room to herself, the students being in class. Two mention a bench for waiting.
- One writer looked and said so: a two-storey house with the cafe on the ground floor. The registered address says ground floor too. What is upstairs, and whether the cafe uses it, nobody writes.
- Not one post declares a sponsorship. Yet four claims — dough rested overnight, no preservatives, top-grade ingredients spared no expense, group orders a day ahead — recur in more than ten posts in near-identical wording, and six of them end with the same three hashtags in the same order. We kept them in the count anyway: each names different dishes at different prices and reports its own sold-out items, seats and parking, so these read as visits. Six writers state they paid their own way; one says a friend bought her drink.
